Kogan - Samsung Galaxy Note II (Grey/White) $569, S3 Mini (White) $379 + $19 Shipping

680

Samsung Galaxy note II Grey/White 16GB Grey import stock. It was $599 with free shipping a few days ago. I believe this small price drop is due to the nexus 4 release and we might expect this phone to slowly drop in price in the next few weeks due to the fierce competition even though the note II is for a different consumer market to the S3, nexus 4, Lumia 920

Seems Samsung have also released the i8190 "S3 Mini", currently priced at $379 and only available in white from Kogan at present - http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/samsung-galaxy-s3-mini-white-and…

    Must… wait… till… Christmas!!!

Come on Kogan, isn't it about time Galaxy S3 3G come down to $400 in price now that Nexus 4 is out? (Even thought Nexus 4 was sold out in doubly quick time, what a farce).

    • Farce, or Apple Marketing Tactic mimiced, you choose.

      • Value for money is why we are here for. Since nexus 4 can be owned for 349 many people would agree S3 for 400 is reasonable because they have similar specs and same os but in different brand.

        • +2

349 is for 8gb which is a very very very small storage

        • +1

and don't forget ANOTHER new high end specs Android phone (i.e. Droid DNA) is always just around the corner.

  • +1

Tempting…did have the Nexus 4 in mind though..

    • +1

I was completely, 100% sold on the Galaxy Note 2, until I read the Nexus 4 review.
      Now I'm oh so conflicted.

  • +4

got one for 599+19 shipping off them a couple of weeks ago…BEST phone
Anyone on the fence go for it

    • The main uncertainty is the size. I like to carry my phone in a belt-clip pouch, I just think it is too awkward hanging on my waist.

      • +4

no one carries phones on a belt clip pouch anymore. Any smart current smartphone is just too big to place on a belt clip let alone the note 2

        • americans still do that..

        • I still carry my iPhone 3GS in a belt-clip pouch. How else am I going to carry mine if I don't want to hold it in my hand all day long?

        • +1

pants pocket, backpack, laptop bag. those are the places where I put my phone.

        • My pants pocket not big enough to fit Note2. I don't carry backpack or laptop bag.

        • +1

what, you don't have a servant to carry your phone for you? :P

        • Well if I know a hot bikini clad lady by my side all day everyday, yeah then I might get her to carry it for me. Sadly, no.

      • +1

You should be hired as an extra for the Tim & Eric show.

Do you wear a blue-tooth as well?

They actively seek out people like you on Craigslist.

      • I have been using a belt clip for my Note 1 for many months. Love the phone and love the belt clip. My 13 yr old son thinks it's soooo daggy. He concedes it makes better logical sense, however, than carrying a man bag or (like he does) frantically trying to retrieve the phone from the pocket of his skinny jeans when it rings.

To reduce the dag factor, wear a shirt that covers the clip. No one can tell whether it's in a city or your pocket then. I use an apple corded headset so i look creative too.

My son has my old S2 and for a while used the belt clip for that phone to rent it out to other kids in class so they could hide their phones and listen to music instead of the teacher. $1 per class.

Glad I bought this on my 28 Degrees Mastercard! Can't wait for it to go down in price so I can claim it back…

    • By the way, does anyone know if you are able to make multiple claims on an item??

      • Claims? What claims?
Also does these guys give a Tax Invoice with ABN on it? Thinking of claiming GST back on it since im traveling soon.

        • Kogan do not give you a tax invoice for phones they are grey imports :)

        • Doesn't matter. Just got $43 dollars back from ge money for note 2 purchased from uniquemobiles.

        • I've ordered a vacuum cleaner from them before, and they emailed me a tax invoice when the order was placed. Even has an ABN on it….

Wonder if that is enough to claim TRS on it, anybody know?

        • +11

You are going to take a Vacuum Cleaner on a plane overseas?

        • such a hassle and too much effort just to claim TRS, i guess its the ozbargainer way! It would be such a pain if you did decide to bring it and they deny the TRS claim at customs

        • +1

take the vacuum out of the box. stuff it with other things you were gonna carry. they won't open it to check.

      • For Merchandise:
        Each item is covered up
to $1,000. If more than one
        thing happens to an item
        (for example it is stolen
        and then found damaged),
we will only pay up to
        $1,000 for that item.
If more than one item is lost,
        stolen or damaged at the
        same time, then we’ll pay
        up to $4,000 in total.
        In any 12-month period we’ll
        pay a maximum of $8,000
        for all items.

        • For price protection:
          Each item is covered up
to $600 and we pay a
          maximum of $2,000 for
          all items in any 12-month
          period.
          For example, if you
          purchase an item for $600
and then see it at a reduced
          price of $400, we’d pay
          $200 to your card account.

    • I thought you could only claim with them if it is an Australian store? http://www.gemoney.com.au/en/documents/insurance/pds/28_Degr…

      • Kogan is an Australian online store selling grey imports. so why not?

    • How much extra do you pay for shoppers insurance?

      • 0.5% on closing balance.

        • I think I need a 28 degrees card. For technology purchases the odds of a price drop are fairly high…

      • If you pay off your card as soon as you purchase things on it (like I do), you don't have to pay anything for the insurance, as your closing balance will always be $0. :)

    • I think I saw someone comment in another deal that Kogan transactions are covered by the 28 degrees price protection, which is really awesome.

I actually bought a 16GB S3 for $729 back in July from Mobileciti knowing that I could could price protection on that too (and claim GST), but the price has only dropped $44 (and I still haven't claimed it, because I think you can only claim once).
Had I known Kogan was also covered I would've definitely ordered from Kogan instead.

      • there is a total limit of how much you can claim back for the lifetime of the card. its about 20k.

        • I'll take my hat off to anyone that hits that limit. I wonder if it would result in an evil credit score.

        • What happened if 20k limited is reached?
Cancel existing one and then apply a new one?

        • the policy will end (according to the pds), and i reckon they might choose to deny you a policy next time.

i'm not sure if that will affect the "have any other provider denied you an income protection policy before?" questions when you sign up those insurances in other places.

@ProggerPete: If you think about it, it's quite easy to reach if you hold on to the card for 5-10 years.

the 20k pool seems to be for everything (price protection, purchase protection.etc)

      • no limit whatsoever.

        • bad advice, go read the pds properly.

the only thing that is "no limit" in life, i've learnt, is the BS stories from kids and crap from toddlers.

        • I was referring to how many times you can claim on a single item. Sorry for the confusion.

My wife loves the heck out of her Note 2. We got it from Kogan a couple of weeks back for $599 + shipping. This is a pretty sweet price drop.

  • When is note 2 32gb coming out?

  • -5

i wouldn't trust kogan, i ordered the iphone with kogan days before my friends ordered theirs with apple… i'm still waiting… as good as kogans deals can get he is not reliable for anything

    • it is a case by case basis with any company which should not be deemed a negative vote. I bought a note 2 from uniquemobiles on the 19/10 and i still havent received it. I found that it was lost in the mail by DHL and it took uniquemobiles so long to replace my note 2 that i had to ask for a refund which i only just received.

      • I ordered 2 iPad 3 from uniquemobiles and received them within 3 days. Very happy - never had experience with Kogan.

      • I had the same issue with Mobileciti & the original Note, had to get the bank to force a refund.

    • +2

You're not comparing apples with apples.

It's grey import vs local stock of course it's going to take longer to get to you.

      • we have all been waiting two months

sorry but i'm comparing a company and how it works.

i have many friends receive many items but i can only comment on my items. just because some ppl have a good review of items from kogan, i can't have my negative review?

  • ok so basically this is the NOTE 2 for $600 bux +/-
Now is this the 3G or 4G version?

    • +1

3G, for 4G i would wait for unique mobiles beat the clock deals as they last had it for $700

      • I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these but wanted peoples advice;

if I'm going to be using it mostly in and around Hobart, is 4G a waste of time?

I'm thinking by the time Tas gets 4G we'll be in Note 4 era >.<

        • i thought 3G in taz would be a waste of time as well… might varies, as my mate was with voda and in hobart.. so could be the most unwisest decision.

  • -8

Sweet price. Anyone wanna swap their Note 2 for my White SGS3 32GB with cash top up on my end?

  • +1

Posting this comment from my Note II.
Bought mine many weeks back when it was $649. It is the best phone I've ever owned (upgraded from Galaxy Nexus) and you wouldn't regret it.
Was also initially worried about size but the phone is very slim so it fits in your pocket nicely (unless you wear ridiculously tight jeans)
Bottom line is, get it! You won't regret.

    • same, i got the 4g version and omg, it craps all over my iphone 5 which I have now sold :P

  • Guys, think carefully when order to Kogan. I have ordered a galaxy s III, and changed mind and trying cancel it. I cannot see any phone number to call, and only way to communicate is email. Sent email and asked for cancel the order, but I have not received any response for more than 5 days. I have not activated order by entering payment, so I believe the order didn't go through .. No idea what to do now… I would not buy anything from Kogan even though it's cheaper .. If anyone had a similar experience, will be very appreciated for any advice regarding the cancel order. Just be careful when you buy something through internet. This world is not safe as much you think.

here is the number you are after: 1300 304 292
      http://www.kogan.com/au/contact-us/#

      • oh.. thanks a lot.

        • You are my hero.:-) I called Kogan today, and they canceled my order immediately. Kogan's service is not bad, but just slow response in the email.

  • .

  • +1

When is this phone going to go below $500 shipped?! Oh the anticipation

    • Same here. I've been on the sideline for a few weeks now. I think it will drop that much by Jan/Feb. Post xmas = surplus stock and hopefully more nexus' floating around to drive the price down.

      C'mon Kogan $500 incl ph!

    • +8

Congrats on today's most irreverent comment. Your prize, neg votes!

    • +3

Your 680 worth it? Its absolute rubbish. I still cant work out how to make calls on

      • Different strokes for different folks! Hey whatta talkin bout willis!!! :)

    • On the contrary, you just spent $550 on a graphics card which you will use to what, play games? Woo-effen-hoo?

      • -7

Its a PHONE. Utter rubbish. At least I actually use that GPU.

        • Well this is a PHONE deal we are discussing here, not about computer graphics card. Why bother coming here if you are more interested in computer games than phones?

        • GPU:

          • Gaming
          • Graphics Editing - AutoCAD and other GPU assisted
          • SETI?

          Smartphone:

          • Telephone Calls
          • Text Messaging
          • MMS
          • Video Calls
          • Gaming
          • Internet Connectivity - Browsing, YouTube, Remote Desktop
          • Camera - HQ Video and Still
          • GPS Navigation - Maps, Voice Guidance
          • MP3 Player
          • FM Radio
          • USB Storage
          • Internet Tethering
          • MHL Screen Output
          • USB Host Mode - Plug in Keyboard, Mouse, USB Storage
          • S-Pen - Drawing/Creative Arts
          • Bluetooth / NFC Transfers
          • Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Compass, Barometer

Now that's just a quick list of this 'phones' hard functions. Rooting it opens it up to many, many more. ie. Ubuntu OS installs.

So ethereal88, you going to persist with your pointless trolling or you enjoying the neg votes?

    • +4

i spent $550 on hookers, and at least i got laid! boo ya!

      • Did you use a $20 phone to call them?

        • nah. ethereal88 bought the last one. i had to walk there to make my calls.

      • the only hookers I spend on is the ones my wife tells me to hang clothes on!!! $5

        • man your cheap! ;)

  • -1

I would be careful about buying a phone (phablet) like the note. I tried the note 2 when it came out but just couldn't get used to the big size. It felt really awkward to use, especially when making phone calls. I felt the screen was also too small for using a stylus. I had it for 3 weeks and still just couldn't get used to it. I am now with my iPhone5 and everything is going very well, loving it. I might try the s4 when that comes out.

    • +1

Once I saw you mention iPhone, it all made sense.. ;)

      • wait for it.

  • Ordered a Note 2 last Friday during the free shipping period. Used $25 voucher due to the delay of iphone5. Found price drop today, called their 1300 number, ask for refund for the difference since I haven't receive the phone and price dropped. Operator was friendly and initially offer store credit for the price difference. I said it is ok for me, but I prefer to refund to my credit card if possible, after she put me on hold for half minute, she said ok. Kogan is awesome!

  • Has the deal expired? The current price is 569?!

  • Speaking of price protection insurance, does the woolworths reloadable credit card have it? It says it does here - http://www.creditcardcompare.com.au/prepaid-cards/woolworths…

But I can't find any information about whether it does on the woolworths site itself.

  • Bought GN2 on 13/11 and item still has not been dispatched yet! Grrr…

  • I bought galaxy S3 from shopping square on the 5th of Nov and they SUCK! The shipping details they gave was a booking of a shipment, not a real shipment. I called DHL and they said they never receive a shipment to even start shipping to me. GRRRRR!!!!! DOnt ever ever buy from shopping square! Now im thinking of going for Kogan, if they are any better?

    • Kogan is not any better, look at my post just above yours.
I called them, and they said they messed up their stock level, and doesn't know when will it be shipped.

    • I sand them e-mail ask for tracking number,

Perhaps they had some trouble understanding you.
