2024 Renault Megane E-Tech Electric Vehicle from $57,500 Driveaway (Save $10,000) @ Renault

650

More price cuts for EVs, glad to see the prices drop despite already having paid full RRP last year on my Hyundai 😭.

The new BYD Sealion 6 is probably the best spec'd and priced plugin hybrid option though to keep both EV and ICE buyers happy. No deals on it so not sharing it as a bargain. 5.9s 0-100kmh for under $50k for a family SUV makes it highly appealing IMO

Until 30 June 2024 the Megane E-Tech Electric – available in a single EV60 Techno variant – is priced from $54,990 plus on-road costs, a saving of $10,000 from its regular RRP.

Drive-away prices range from $57,500 to $61,400, depending on where the vehicle is registered.
For a limited time it is cheaper than a Tesla Model 3 ($58,900 plus on-road costs) and Model Y ($60,900 plus on-road costs), and is priced in line with a base-model Hyundai Kona Electric ($54,000 plus on-road costs).

you wont be able to buy a fuel powered ranger in 5 years.

I’ve booked marked this comment to ensure your folly does not go without credit in 2029.

    • no one buying this electric rubbish made in china

This statement is simply wrong based on the evidence that so many "no one" are buying Chinese EV in the last few years.

    • -1

no one buying this electric rubbish made in china the govt is pushing on you

You realise the Tesla Model Y is now the best-selling passenger car globally, and that goes double for Australia, right?

      Which government? CCP?

I really like my 2017 Renault Megane GT. Good combo of power/comfort/sportiness. And I can have a tow hitch for my E Mtb. Which not many hot/warm hatches offer. Purchased used for $14000. The equivilent VW would be 5-10k more. I have also had a bunch of RS Clios and Meganes. All great cars.

But unless you get a really good lease deal. You would be nuts to buy one of these brand new.

The only new car worth buying is a new Toyota Hybrid.

  • I mean if it was Renault E van and 10k off the price, sign me up
    The Evan charges at 22kw
this vehicle charges like a BYD which is essentially useless. 7kw ac is like charging a phone with 5w usb adapter when there is 15w+ out there

7KW is plenty for the overnight charge, the car will be full and ready to take you to work every single day, even if you drive the full range in a single day.

Secondly, the faster you charge, the more wear you put on the battery. If you have the time to charge your phone at 5W then it's actually better for battery life.

      • It’s like you are trying to justify a mistake with your personal choice.

        • Sorry, what mistake ? I don't follow 🤷🏼‍♂️

        • Not really. Practically speaking even a slow charger that uses the standard outlet at 2.4kw can be usable for the average person who does something like 35km round trip per day. Would be plenty enough to top up the battery overnight.

  • Had 2004 Megane never had a fault, drove for 2 years never had to go to workshop. Best car ever for me wish these new car's comes with that reliability.

Bahaha euro's realising selling unreliable mid range cars for big money doesnt quite cut it anymore

  • Thanks, but 'no' to french cars.

    (now, where's Nubzy? haha)

    • +1

      @nubzy

  • I wish they had made this slightly larger, with a slightly largely battery and made the loading space a better shape (with Honda style fold flat seats). I rkn that'd do it. Gen 2 surely will cover it all in a few years time…

  • When we going to see decent EV for $40k driveaway?

    • Err, already??

  • -2

    $57500 DA

for a Renault? still 30k over priced in this market.
$40k driveaway would be too much

French cars are second only to Italian cars for electrical reliability.

    • +1

I know right. My SF90s been back to Maranello many times.

    • But would it be a big issue if its a dedicated EV? They would have gone the extra length on electricals when the whole car is electrical rather than being an afterthought with ICE.

  • Not gonna lie it's a nice design. Zipping around town all good but range anxiety on longer trips.

    • +1

EVs best use is overnight charging at home, with enough range for each single day of driving, and enough to get you to the airport for a longer trip. This suits the majority of Australians - but if you actually want to drive your longer trips then life becomes more complicated.

  • Is this on the same platform as the ID Buzz or ID3 from Volkswagen? Looks similar in a way.

  • Hmm.. I didn't think cars could depreciate any faster until I saw EV cars.
