Slightly higher than this deal shared in December, but pretty good value for a highly reviewed rugged sports watch if you're in the market for one!

I think I paid about this much for this model ~4 years ago.

Having only just recently upgraded from this model to the 2x, I'd strongly recommend getting a more recent model.

The main reason I moved on was due to it failing to sync, and it seems it had something to do with Garmin changing something in their Connect software, as the problem was quite common, but steadfastly not addressed by Garmin.

Without being able to connect, you lose a lot of functionality, and it does not keep time well without it.
Yes, you can still sync time with satellites, which became a morning routine, and its certainly a rugged and capable watch.
In fact, if it still synced with the phone, I'd still be wearing one, because it was great.
But hard to recommend as is for nearly $300, just save up a bit more and get a 2x, Venu, etc

Thanks @Magpye for swooping in with the user experience. Great for potential purchasers to have feedback like that before buying! (And be nice if Garmin could address in a firmware update, if that was possible.)

    • Unfortunately the sync glitches still occur on the 2/2X.

Mostly when I'm syncing GPS courses or gpx files. There's some weird limit of >50 nav point courses that can cause a bug that can nearly brick the watch.

It's happened to me few times on off track hikes where luckily I had decent visibility and guesstimating the track, the watch freezes and shows the Garmin logo.

A few times it's reset itself after 20-30 mins.
One time I had to track down the "Dev mode" via YouTube.

Still a great watch, but I'll probably save up and finally upgrade fully to a fenix since I use it a lot for hiking and running.

  • Instinct 2 has a slightly reduced price on amazon of $528.21 vs $679 RRP. But I have seen cheaper
