NB: For those not caught yet, YouTube has been cracking down on foreign accounts so most international countries are blocked for new signups, and they are cancelling Premium subscriptions once your current term runs out. And they know exactly what they’re doing because all of the countries with similar high pricing to Australia still allow signups. There seem to be pricing bands.

This is the only region I can find that is a worthwhile amount cheaper than Australia. Nothing like the past, but it’s something.

  1. VPN to Mexico (I used the cheap TorGuard deal).
  2. Navigate to YouTube Premium (https://www.youtube.com/premium) in the browser and sign up.
  3. I don’t know if this is required but for the post code I added an extra zero to the end of my Australia post code (which ends in zero) so it just looked like a typo. I used Revolut.

That simple. No special accounts required.

                I'm going to do this on the weekend as I already have the M365 setup, but to clarify, did you subscribe to Google One through itunes Turkey also? I already have that in AU.

                Obviously I will need to deactivate my Ukraine Youtube Premium Family, but if family manager is already functional with Turkish payment profile, it should be fairly straight forward using the itunes balance for payments?

                  @dmbminaret: Hi, my Google One is direct subscription using an Android phone and an Turkey payment profile.
                  For your YouTube Premium family I think you will be alright, I believe the TRY pricing is referencing the Apple ID's billing address not the Google account.

                    @Jasongood: For clarity, this is what I did:
                    Cancel YouTube premium family Ukraine (still has nearly a month left).
                    Go to iPhone, download YouTube app, go to account and subscribe. Automatically debits apple balance from TRY gift cards.

                    I did not disband family and used same google account even though apple account is different.

              @illumination: Well, I have an AppleID and Apple TV+ subscription and bought Apple gift cards on Amazon for the subscription. All I use is Windows laptop and Android phone.
              I also have the Apple TV app installed on both my Android phone and TV

                As I've done it myself, from my understanding, provided you have a device that allows you to subscribe to YouTube via an AppleID (which, I think must be via the YouTube app from an Apple App Store), I think you can do it

                Can you do it with a Windows, or an Android? Most definitely not, cause there's obviously no Youtube "app" via the iOS App Store on them (it doesn't even run iOS lol)

                I don't even think you can do it with a Macbook as there's no YouTube "app" on the Mac App Store

                  @illumination: Yes, that's what I thought, I'll probably will not be able to do it as the Youtube app needs to be linked with the AppleID.

                  All good then, i'm using Serbia at the moment which is a little bit cheaper than Mexico.

          You say that you had an Indian family plan. Just a couple of questions, if you can remember:

          (1) Did you have to wait until the Indian plan expired before going through Turkish iTunes?
          (2) Assuming you kept the rest of the family structure in place when you 'moved', did you create a new family (with the Turkish iTunes account as the family manager) and then invite all of the existing members, or were you able to add your Turkish iTunes account as a family member to the existing family?

    Created an Indian Apple ID.
    Logged in with it under Media & Purchases.
    But YouTube app still offering Australian prices.

    Didn’t buy gift cards from Amazon India yet. Wanted to see if YouTube would offer the Indian subscription.

    What have I missed?

      not sure what you have missed.
      i did this process for yt premium and nba league pass and they both worked fine.

      set up indian apple id.
      log out of existing apple id on iphone and login with indian one .
      put some gift cards on the account purchased from amazon india.
      go into the app and you get prompted to pay in inidian rupee ₹ with the funds loaded onto your apple id..

      What worked for me was turning Location off in and refreshing the Youtube membership page.
      I was on VPN at the time as well, so don't know if that was also required

    I can confirm the Apple ID method for India works. I set it up last week by following this guide:

    That was for something else but it works for YouTube as well.

    I got charged 389 rupees for the family plan charged to the Apple account balance. I just need to remember to buy Apple gift cards from Amazon India every month to top up the balance.

        Yeah it took me a while to set it up but eventually got there. I don't want to stock up on a bunch of Apple gift cards from Amazon India in case they stop this method and now i am stuck with so much gift card credit with no real use for other things. So buying just enough to cover the family plan monthly is safer for me.

    My Goal: Google One Turkey and YouTube Turkey
    Result: TRY 425.99 2TB Google One Annual, TRY 149.99 YouTube Premium Family Monthly

    You will need: an android phone for Google One, an iDevice for Youtube Premium, VPN not required

    Google One
    1. Create or use your existing throwaway Google Account https://accounts.google.com.au/
    2. In the throwaway Google Account, create a family group https://families.google/families/
    3. Do not create any payment profile just yet, invite your main accounts to the family first
    4. Accept the invites before continue. It may fail if your main accounts' payment profile is not in Australia, either switch back or delete the others and leave Australia only.
    5. Create a Turkey payment profile in the throwaway account https://payments.google.com/gp/w/home/settings
    6. On the android phone, open Google Play and sign in the throwaway account.
    7. Install Google One app, when open, choose to sign in as the throwaway account, you will see TRY pricing, subscribe with a International fee-free card.
    8. Share your Google One to the Google Family https://one.google.com/settings

    Youtube Premium
    1. Create or use your existing Apple ID, billing address in Turkey. The Apple ID can be the same or different email of your Google throwaway account

    2. Sign in that Apple ID on an iDevice
    3. Go to your favourite store to buy TRY iTunes gift card, such as Turgame
    4. Redeem the TRY gift cards to your throwaway Apple ID
    5. Open YouTube app, login with your throwaway Google Account
    6. Find the option Purchases and Membership, you will see TRY pricing of YouTube Premium. It will deduct your Apple ID's TRY balance to pay for it.
    7. Remember to check and recharge your throwaway Apple ID with TRY iTunes gift card
    8. (Family plan) after subscription all Family member will auto get Premium, no further action required

      Following the steps but when try to purchase the subscription from YouTube app it show the error in the Apple iTunes side "Apple ID not yet used in iTunes Store please review"

      Do I need to add payment details on my Apple id account? Currently it show none and I already loaded the TURK currency

        I just went through this whole process and it was a little annoying but managed to make it work.

        Was getting the same error of 'Apple ID not yet used in iTunes store please review' which had me stuck in a loop of the page not loading. I found online a solution which was to 'Upgrade iCloud plan':

        1. Reset All Settings — Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset All Settings — try to download an app
        2. Go through like you're going to purchase iCloud+ (you do not have to purchase). Settings > [name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Upgrade iCloud+ > follow prompts until you get to a screen asking you to verify the payment method (if one is added) or prompts you to add a payment method
        3. if you are prompted to "verify" the payment method, stop there. Go back and remove the payment method. Then try to download an app
        4. if prompted to add a payment method, stop there. Try to download an app.

        I ended up accidentally purchasing one month of iCloud upgrade for TRY25, which isn't much anyway, so I cant confirm if removing the payment method will work or not. Otherwise just make the upgrade then cancel immediately.

        Then back to YT premium and subscribe and pay with TRY gift card balance.

        I ran into another issue which was inviting YouTube Premium Family members which 'were not from the same country'. If you have this issue with accepting the family invite from your main accounts, the solution is to use a VPN from the Premium Account HOLDER's Country (Turkey in this case) and THEN accept it through the link in the email.

      Followed the YT, works perfectly. Just a note, if you already have a family already set-up, make sure that the family manager is the one login to the YouTube app in Apple device before getting the family plan so everyone in the family can get the benefits immediately. You can still use the Apple ID to pay.

      Btw, family plan is now TRY209.99

          Im not sure, but you can try to use your Indian account to sign in to IOS YT app in step 5 above and then follow step 6. Just make sure you see TRY pricing.

    Instead of recommending signing up with a new VPN we’ll need to find a foreign payment method that works.

    I was on Indian for a year got cancelled, switched to Ukraine got cancelled. You might get away with it for a few months but if you “payment method” is an Australian Card your account will always get flagged.

    My Indian Payment via Commbank has been cancelled and will expire Dec 24. Tried the PNG route but no joy by changing my address to PNG and using NordVPN to tunnel to Port Moresby, but on Safari they give me a "we don't know your country" message, which says to do it via my iPhone, and when I do that, it shows me AU pricing, even though the iPhone is also tunnelling into PNG.

    May just wait until Dec 24 passes and try something like a Wise debit card to see if that ticks enough boxes for YouTube to assume I'm in PNG.

    Gave this one a try with a VPN, set address and VPN to MX - however, the payment displayed was in USD, would not display Mexican Pesos despite IP in Mexico. May have closed this loop, depending on VPN. For non-IOS, Kazakhstan is one of the only ones remaining that work on monthly subscription with just a CC at AUD $8.10 single monthly sub; no annual.
