  You can buy 1TB portable USB3.0 drives for $90-$100 locally. e.g Hitachi Touro 1TB, Toshi Canvio
  Was also a WD Digital at JB Hifi last week for $100 ish.

  Buying overseas means you have to ship back to Amazon when the drive goes kaput, not worth it.

  I thought all repairs or replacement under WD warranty need to be sent to Singapore?

    Only if you buy in Asia Pacific region, WD warranty will be sent to Spore/Msia. Try to put in Serial Number from US region store (ie. BestBuy) into WD web, you have to return it to US too.

  No it's not cheap. I paid that much more than a year ago before prices went up due to flooding in Thailand.

  FYI - unsure what price and shipping will be but an Amazon Lightning Deal starts at 11:40 AEST on the 2GB version.
