Well that's weird, played Enchanted Castle (I think) on the Sega growing up and always thought the title was Alex THE Kidd. Guess I was a stupid kid who didn't read properly.
Every person I knew called it Alex the Kid and always have the same reaction to this revelation haha

always enjoyed sonic and this more than mario 2d for some reason. I guess Mario World was good, but never really enjoyed the others
this and sonic were all i had for like 4 years of my life and you believe i played the hell out of them. never finished Alex Kidd though, it got pretty hard for young me
I didn't beat it either, i was like 5, 6 years old, and i kept getting to what i believed was the final part or boss, but i'm not sure why I thought that. I'll play through it on my switch and try to pinpoint where i thought th finish was :)
I would always die at the lava or forest levels. Never managed to finish it. My friend did and rubs it in my face now and then!
This one is cool as you can switch between updated graphics or the old school look seamlessly during gameplay whenever you want. The updated graphics is actually well done but always difficult not to switch over for that nostalgia.
Also you definitely need a controller for this one, trying to play with a keyboard is a lot harder and kinda sucks the fun out of it a bit.
also you cant move the keyboard in the air when you jump so you go higher

I followed the prompts and successfully connected Prime to Epic. Alex Kidd is now apparently available in my Epic library.
Interesting. If you cancel prime in the future do games get wiped from your epic account?

I can still remember my heart rate over 25 years ago when I got to the final stages and was on that motorbike with 1 life left.

Or watching your brother play because you had to do a level or life each and he was rubbish on the swim levels and he seemed to always get the swim levels

Thank goodness I stumbled across the cheat where you hold up and hit button 2 eight times you can continue (you need a certain amount of money though)
Must have read it in one of those Segazone magazines, and it wasn't so bad after that haha

You have ruined my day.
My first console was the Mastersystem with this built in, so many fundamental memories born from it. Another is when mum would send me off to the kids club at Sharkies at Southport while she played the pokies and I tried my best to beat this bloody game. They even had all the rock-paper-scissors answers for the end of level bosses on a piece of paper inside the cupboard containing the console.
Oh man I remember playing this with my dad.
We were jotting down all the scissors paper rock ordering on the back of an old shopping list.

Sweet as, this came with my sega master system back in the day. Not the best game but half decent and a lot of hours in back then.
My memory was always trying to play another game but unless you put the cartridge in at the right angle and gave it a good blow you would get Alex Kidd instead. You'd have to restart a bunch of times and wiggle the cartridge before you could play it. Half the time you'd just end up giving up and playing Alex Kidd.
Amazon can bring back the super mario original and Metal Slug 5 and up.
