  • Is it consider a good deal if i can use the 350$ gift card to upgrade from 128gb to 512gb model?

    • do you need 512gb storage?

      • I do if i was to keep this pixel 9 pro xl, my old s20 plus has a 512gb sd card in it

    • I tried that but they didn’t allow

      • I asked them yesterday and they told me to come back today, they will do it for me, something about i should wait 24 hours(?)

        • Interesting. My store said there's absolutely no returns allowed on voucher-for-device plan deals, and this includes swapping to a different storage SKU as it involves a return on their system.

Well, you can return the device, but you forfeit the device voucher amount is what I was told.

          • @BradH13: Yeah, i was initially served by a cashier, then a manager came out after to issue the gift card because the cashier has no idea about it. After i got the gift card, i asked if i could upgrade to the higher storage model and she was a little hesitate but said i can do it, but told me to wait 24 hours. Today thry again need a manager approval to let me get the 512gb using the bonus GC.

          • @BradH13: Looks like they are making up the rules as they like.

      • Yeh when i was picked up the $350, i asked the same question and rejected on the spot and say not for pre-order and also mentioned every store are waiting for the 512GB variant.

Seem like we getting a mixed bags of respond.

  • I already subscribe to 2tb google one storage - $12.49/month.

I activated the gemini advanced trial for 12 months. 2TB is included in the free trial.

My current 2tb @ $12.49 suspended for 12 months saving me another $150 (12 months).

This google deal is just crazy but gooood…

    • +1

I wonder how this works if you're on a geo-pricing Google one plan….

  • Received SMS that my order was ready, went instore to pick it up and was given the $350 gift card without having to ask, great deal.

Got my Pixel Pro 9 XL and the $350 gift card in store. Confirmed with JB chat that the cancellation fee is $766.59 but no $99 refund for the first month

I’ll only cancel later on in the billing cycle

    • +1

      Well done.

    • How did you get a cancellation fee of $766.59?

      • Not sure how they calculated on the .59

        But the calculation should be ($800 / 24) x 23

        • Ahh that makes sense, I paid the full fee because they didn't charge me for the first month

    • +1

Thank goodness you got it sorted BG <3

  • I just crushed my pixel 7 in my car door :( is this deal to cancel and pay the charge still possible this weekend? (Pixel 9 for ~700 ? )

Apologies if mentioned already, there's a lot of comments to weed through!

    • The EXPIRED in title should help you out there

      • Yeah thanks mate. There were a few additional comments saying the deal (for the p9) went to the 25th after the expired tag went up. Not sure if that extended to gift card tho.

        • The 1700 gift card toward the price of pixel 9 pro XL has expired, however, when you check on JB hifi website, the bonus gift card( 350 or 250) still available, how much is depend on what model you buying. GL

          • @bargainfinder: Cheers. Looks like $1000 back for taking out the $79 plan on the pixel 9 (non pro) too. I'll head in and see what's the go

    • +1

You can still go for the phone plan cancellation but the deal is not as good as the original $1700 off pre-order

      Now it's either
$1200 off $79 phone plan with max cancellation fee of $550
$1400 off $99 phone plan with max cancellation fee of $800

$350 bonus GC is still available till 25th Aug

      • So it means $1200 off $79 phone plan with max cancellation fee of $550 seems to be a better deal.

      • This is correct for anyone getting the phone today
I grabbed the $79 plan as slightly better with less cancellation
Effectively $950ish for 256gb if you count the gift card as money and cancel right away

Just want to express overall feeling after getting my hand on the phone. Many thanks to @BargainsGrabber and glad it also worked out for him on the phone.

Been wanting to get this type of deal before but always missed out, now finally pull it through…of course without some kind of hiccup when the initial store that i placed my pre-order said they don't know when the stock were available on the release date. Luckily with the helpful bloke at JB can redirect me with a different store that had stock and I was able to pick it up without issue, received my bonus $350 GC as well.

Wondering what people going to spend their GC on?

    • No worries mate, enjoy your new phone!

I’m saving it for the new iPhone in 2 years 😂

    • +1

Considering the pixel watch 3 but hesitant going from a 2 week battery life on my Huawei GT2 watch to a 24hour battery.

    • +1

Thinking maybe some Pixel buds during the Black Friday sales if they drop the price.

  • I just realized JB HiFi signed me up for two $99 mobile plans when I signed up to this offer instead of one!
I already cancelled my plan on Thursday and paid the ETC but just got an email tonight saying "your order is complete".
Looking into it I can see it's a different number and it's listed on my JB HiFi app as an active service now.
I hope they can sort this out, I'm not paying another $800 ETC!

    • +1

Well if that's the case, they better give u another $1700 off voucher and an extra $350 GC for that

      • True otherwise I'm paying more that retail for this with 2 ETCs haha.
Spent about 30 minutes chatting to support in the JB support app with no resolve.
They told me to go in-store to JB or Telstra to sort it out.

        • It also means there is a Pixel 9 Pro XL waiting for you to be collected at the store too.

          • @CodeXD: Nope just another mobile service.
My local JB is raising a complaint for a fraudulent order raised in my name by the other JB store I ordered from.
Looks like they fraudulently signed my name on another contract to port another number because the first order wasn't progressing.
The first order came through eventually and now I have to deal with all this.

            • +1

@posthex: Lol. JB's system is so f-ed up.

  • Anyone who has cancelled the plan, are we able to pay the remaining amount with credit card ?

    • Yes MasterCard Visa or Amex

      • Thank you !!

  • +1

Lesson learned: if it is cheap buy two.
    1st order: 99+147+766.59
    The next day:
    2nd order: 147+799.82

    Thanks again BG

    • Why is the 2 amount different for the same phone?

      • When you have an account with Telstra they make you pay for all services in the same bill. Since snvl had an existing service from yesterday Telstra didn't charge another $99 but applied it to the future bill.

        • Ahh ok, so essentially still the same amount.

          • @bargainfinder: No, the full amount paid is stated there.

            • @snvl: Thats a great tip for future deal, saving another ~$64 on your 2nd order.

  • Cancelled my service and got an invoice, but there doesn't seem to be a way to pay it?

My service is gone from the JB App so I can't make a payment there. I logged in via Telstra portal and it's gone from there too.

It does mention it will debit my original payment method (credit card) on the due date - is that what everyone else is doing?

    • Correct

    • I paid mine early in the Telstra app.
Can't remember how long it took to appear there after I cancelled.

    • +1

You can pre-pay using a different payment method if you want via the My Telstra app.

      • They will direct debit.

        • Not if you pre-pay. This is for those who would like to use a payment method different from what's on their file.

          • @sridhar: Is there any issue with adding a new payment method in the JB hifi app and then setting it as the default payment method so that will be the payment method to be charged after cancellation?

Why did you choose to pre-pay instead of the above method?

Actually I can see my service and account in the JB hifi app but when I log into my Telstra I don't see any active services. I haven't cancelled yet.

  • Anyone still waiting to pick up the phone?

Still no SMS message from the JB Hifi store, despite the sales person said there hasn't been many signup before me, so I should expect to get it on launch day.

    • Go and give your local store a call mate

  • -1

Anyone else manage to return the phone for GC? My mate said she's returned 2.

    • smells like a fib

      • Kid you not.i have done it with past deals such as the iPad etc.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/848012

Go through this. Others on ozb have done it too.

        • So is it like you return phone and get full $1800 back ?

            • @[Deactivated]: Lol. Lodge a complaint against them for giving such a good deal … That will be heights 😄

        • I missed that ipad deal, and actually need an iPad myself. Such a great deal.

  • On a separate topic, if you know someone working in jbhifi and you can get staff discount, can you still pay with gift card?

    • +1

If you know the staff why not ask them

      • She is a part time worker so she has no idea…need to find out. need a MacBook but not sure if sure stock some giftcard tomorrow.

  • Hi everyone!!
I signed up on a new sim on 21/08 but still hasn't got my phone yet. Talked to store reps three times but they have no leads when would they get more stock delivered. According to them, it can take up to 3 weeks. Everytime they said your order is confirmed and you'll definitely get your order.
On the other hand, JB sim plan got activated on the same day and as I don't need it and don't want to pay it for the whole month so I was wondering, should I cancel it now before receiving the phone?
    Need your kind advice. TIA

    • Don't think anyone knows the answer here unless they work with JB?

    • Is the phone available at any stores near by?? My local JB has organised one to be shipped over from another store.

  • How long did it take for the cancellation fees to come out of the nominated account? I cancelled on Monday (26/8) and the money hasn't come out yet…

    • I'm sure they will take it in the next billing cycle. So, in a month after the first $99 payment.

    • might be a silly question, did you contact JB mobile to cancel or Telstra directly?

  • How to claim 1 year free Gemini subscription guys?

Also 2 TB storage that comes with it, if you fill it up in the year and then subscription ends, do you get to keep the day stored as part of 2 Tb ?

    • I tried to redeem it through the Google One app and Gemini app and they both said offer not available.

      • Why it was part of pre order offer?

        • I'm chasing support for an answer.

          • @gamerkonks: did you figure it out? i cannot find the pre-order deal.

            • @ltwo: Are you on any family plans?

              • +1

@pepsicles: No I'm not. But I closed my Google One app and reopened and got a popup for the 1 year free trial. Seems sorted for me.

                • @ltwo: Still with support for me. They've asked for screenshots, which I've sent.

  • I was wondering if there a possibility to upgrade the phone to higher storage variant?

My phone is still sealed. I am going to cancel the service tomorrow. I am thinking of visiting JB hi-fi and ask them if I can return the 128GB I brought and upgrade to higher storage.

    Has anyone tried this ?

  • +2

Just got an extra e-voucher $350 sent to my email on-top of the physical one I picked up in store

    • Must be deal of the year surely. I just received my e-gift card this morning but wasn't as lucky as you. When I collected mine they were adamant it would be emailed.

  • Anybody getting any good customer retention offers when cancelling their service yet?

    • Have yet to cancel as first month paid so using the data.

  • I ported out today and got an invoice from JB/Telstra for $766.59.

    • They charged me the same.

  • -1

Has anyone been to able to return the mobile before cancelling the plan and got full Gift Card value returned in gift card?

    • If the phone is returned the gift card reverts to the base offer at the time. If it was $800 normally then that will be the gift card returned after refunding the phone.

      • +1

What happens to the difference in value?

  • After canceling how many days usually did it take for your credit card to get charged? The day of cancelation or a number of days after?

  • +1

Used the first month worth and just cancelled via JB Mobile chat for a final bill of $766.59

  • They offered me plan downgrade in the JBhifi chat when i went to cancel.

$59 60gb would work out at $295ish extra per year on top of the cancellation fee you would have to pay anyway to keep the the phone number
$79 150gb would be $525ish extra per year

Doesn't work for me but might work for some.

    • iirc from previous deals the JB rep would cancel the plan (so you have to pay ETA) and resign you up to the new deal.

      • So not a good deal then if you end up having to pay the ETA.

Confirm with the rep before proceeding if this is something you would want to do, they didn't mention anything about it to me but I chose to cancel so didn't get full rundown.

  • Still having difficulties redeeming Gemini AI trial… annoying as I was really looking forward to it. I've been back and forth with Google's customer service and they now want all sorts of further details to try and help.

I'm interstate for work for two more weeks and still on my old phone, and Google have just asked me for more details… bah! Can anyone help me out?

    They want :

    • device details? (where to get it fromSettings > About Phone > Model Name)
    • Gemini app version ? (Gemini app icon > Long Press > App Info > Version)
    • G1 (Google One) app version (G1 app icon > Long Press > App Info > Version)
    • The offer is for new customers. If you already have a google one plan or are part of a family group then you can't get it.

I removed my email id from the family group on google one and cleared the data for google one, photos and gemini. Then signed in again and got the offer.

Another workaround is removing all google accounts from the phone, wiping the data for google apps, create a new google account, redeem the google one and gemini offers with the account. Then add that account to the family group
