I bought 220k Aeroplan Points for $2,600 AUD during a previous 125% bonus offer period.

I have bought a round trip Singapore Airlines Business Class ticket from MEL-JFK/EWR for 220k Aeroplan Points return. You can def make it work out for yourself.

      • melb to JFK via singapore? 30 hours?

        • +4

Well its in Business, but yes quite the detour and a visit to the worlds longest flight.

Alternatively if you wanted to fly United it would be 150k AC points return from SYD-SFO and BNE-LAX/SFO and 175k for any United redemption in Business from Australia to North America

          • @AircraftFreight: I flew SIN-JFK in Bis April last year it was such an easy flight :) Enjoy! Well worth the diversion :)

          • @AircraftFreight: if a detour costs me an extra day of annual leave I always factor in an extra $350 cost otherwise it's false economy

            • @Johnx: spending half the day sitting in a lounge / lie flat bed with free food / movies / bottom less alcohol isn't the worst thing to do though depending on how much you like your job

      • 180k points was $2800 CAD with that promo … also just had a Quick Look on low season dates, nothing really for those points, I guess you were lucky to find the dates, just not sure how you got the extra 40k points for less money

I am Super Elite with AC and I had a previous tier promotion applied. Even for the $3,200 CAD? price it was worth it when comparing to normal cash fares on SQ.

You need to book directly on T-355 days out from departure but they do release 2J seats on all NA flights regardless of the time of year

      • +1

princess would prefer to fly direct in economy and pay $2000+

      • Username checks out?

      • Sadly no interesting mid/long haul options in business for this promo.

        • Any examples (to save me some searches). Surely a few seats Aus - SE Asia area?

Still no codeshare across to NZ :(

      • Slight hijack but I saw AC was running a bought points promo, is it generally good value? I was considering it as their redemption on flights around Asia is excellent but I’m really preoccupied atm and don’t have the time to delve deeply into it. If you have any tips, would be appreciated!

70% is still to week in my personal opinion. Needs to be 100%+ in order to make good sense of value.

          1) Rates - ACs redemption rates within the "Pacific" (Australia, Mainland China, Japan ect) are fairly good, especially within say MEL-SIN-DPS/KUL/BKK as it falls within the 4500 mile region for a 45k redemption rate in Business.

          2) Redemptions to North America - Redemptions to North America are of very good value, 150k return with UA from SYD-SFO and BNE-LAX/SFO and 175k for any other route.

          3) Singapore Airlines - Singapore Airlines will always release 2-4 Business seats from Australia to Singapore T-355 days from departure. No First Class or Premium Economy redemptions and the Economy miles cost is very poor, you should only be booking Business on Aeroplan.

          4) Aeroplan Stopovers - You can have 1 stopovers as you wish for only a 5 thousand points.

          5) Reward Chart - https://www.aircanada.com/content/dam/aircanada/loyalty-cont…

@AircraftFreight: Excellent info, thank you! The email I received says “up to 85%” bonus. I’ve only been looking at economy redemption within SEA and ex PER and the rates were very very good (IMO), like 25k PER SIN VTE, 8k VTE BKK and so on. This fits my use case atm and J on the shorter intra-SEA routes is probably not worth the upgrade, though I’m projecting my OneWorld experiences here.

I'm not too sure how to know if this discount is applied as we're trying to book

    • +2

I think it will show promo column in addition to saver and advantage

  • anyone been able to find routes with PE/biz rewards?

    • There are no Business Class "Promo" offers from Australia to Singapore.

      • too good to be true I guess. discounted economy reward seats are still reasonable value in this day and age given wider availability

  • Can't do stopovers if wanting to redeem 25% off saver award?

    • Correct - it's in the T&Cs.

  • Does anyone know if this promo still applies if mixing points + cash?

    • It doesn't.

Just like the question above, it's answered clearly in the T&Cs.
