  • Nice. Somehow it is only a few dollars more expensive than the cheapest 320GB Samsung bare-drive. Thanks!

  • seems like a good deal at first…then you factor in postage and it hits you. Shoppingsquare are infamous for charging higher than average postage costs.

a quick check to metro sydney (where they are based) = $23 postage. All up you're looking at around about $133 for this enclosure.

Fair enough that is a decent price, but anyone with a little bit of know-how would be able to build their own for cheaper (and with better components!)

Final thing, I think people should start posting their "bargains" with postage included - i think this gives a better idea as to what people will pay in the end and makes it more realistic and helpful. what do you think scotty?

Not meaning to rain on this parade, i love this site don't get me wrong!

    Cheers,
    Matt.

    • Good idea Matt.

It differs though how people define "good deals" due to many aspects. For some people $133 with shipping could already save them few bucks compared to buying in other places, but may not be the same case with few other people.
I also thought that people living near APUS (like Scotty himself), could avoid the postage by dropping down to the store. In the end, it depends to the site viewers themselves to judge the deals as good or not so good.

However, the idea of putting shipping cost with the deals sounds pretty good for me. :)

    • Good idea about including the shipping details. Yes $23 for an external hard disk is a bit steep as I've just bought a kids 7-piece drum set with $8 delivery, and I'm pretty sure it is much bigger than the disk enclosure.

However an even better idea is — if you can show me how to get a 320GB external hard disk cheaper, delivered to my door!

Personally I doubt ShoppingSquare can take pick up from their Kingsford office as I suspect these are probably drop-shipped. But then it also applies to many cheap stores listed on staticICE.
