    How much is the phone?

  • +2

    257 grams.

    • +5

Which is pretty light considering its size and the fact its foldable. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is only 17g less at 240 grams for comparison

      • -1

thats why they reduced weight on 15 pro max by 20 grams.

        • And its increased by 6 grams from iPhone 15 Pro Max to iPhone 16 Pro Max

  • +5

Wouldn't the total minimum cost be $3,423? ($1,047+$2,376)

    • Correct. Their "minimum" only accounts for the mobile plan.

    • +12

Does anyone actually see that and think "Ah yeah, that's fine"? That's an absurd amount of money to spend to lock yourself into a handset and mobile plan for 2 years!

  • +12

$99/month is kinda wild. That's more than my 365-day plan.

    • +6

      $99/month for 24 months. That’s a real commitment.

    • Which provider is that with?

      • i jump around between catch, amaysim, or whoever is having promos when I need to switch.

  • +12

It is a discount but I won't call this a bargain.

This is essentially the same as paying the full price for the phone and getting a $30/month plan. While you won’t get 300GB of data on a $30 plan, you can still get a decent amount of data (e.g., 40GB, which I think is sufficient for people with a fixed home or office internet connection) with Telstra 5G access through providers like Belong for just $5 more.

      • +1

and not locked in a contract

      • And a good discount with bonus trade in credit of $1000 on an old device. I don't consider this a bargain at all… >$3k all in.

    • yup, a discount or inflated price.

  • Assume the same as the 9 Pro - which was only worthwhile if you cancel the plan.

  • I don't want to sound stupid or read through all the dribble but is the 300GB per month, per year or over the 2 year plan period??

    • Per month

      • +3

Makes it maybe worth if you cancel home internet and just tether everything to your phone

        • They have that fair use policy for that. Imagine watching a 4k movie and they throttle your connection midway.

          • @sekhon147: Never heard of that happening. And you might be thinking about unlimited plans

If anyone interested, here are a few thoughts after daily driving it for about a week.

    • Coming from a Fold 4, this thing is THIN
    • The outside display is infinitely more usable
    • The outside left bezel looks very ugly on the porcelain, but very forgettable on the obsidian.
    • Battery life craps all over the Fold 4 so far
    • The camera seems less capable than the fold, in terms of clarity and resolution.
    • The launcher is a bit of a step down from One UI, No folders in app drawer, no double tap to lock, fixed elements that you can't move
    • The finger print sensor is better than Samsung, but I'm still getting used to the power being above the volume keys
    • Some apps have tiny black bars on the inside display, you might not notice it or it may really aggravate your OCD

Overall, Its a decent upgrade and I'm quite happy with it. Happy to answer any questions as well.

    • What made you choose it above galaxy fold 6?

      • +2

Samsung got lazy and stopped upgrading the fold. 4 to 6 was a very very small change, Pixel outside screen and thin profile is streets ahead and won me over

    • I'm tempted to jump ship from my 4 but the fact the camera is worse than a 2 generation old Samsung Fold is giving me pause
No double tap to lock would drive me crazy too

      • +1

The pixel processing nearly makes up for the difference. Looking back at the pictures that I took so far, not a single one makes me think "I should've kept the Samsung."

  • Nah still waiting for the pixel 9 pro.
    Taking forever lol

From the JB Hi-Fi plan pre-order deal? My mum was in the same boat, kept going in and kept calling and eventually they transferred her order to a different store that had stock and had it sorted that day. Could be worth a shot

      • I just assumed the 9 pro isn't out yet, the website says coming soon, available October 24. So bit of a wait for that particular model. The normal Pro is same small size as pixel 9

        • Sorry my bad, you're right. I mis-read the fact you didn't mention XL. Hopefully they do a similar signup deal and people can get it for a steal 😃

          • @Benjamin7711: Yes hoping for the same deal, the only unknown is the trade in bonus and gift certificate value.

  • +1

Is cancelling the plan also 800 + 99$ first month?

    • +1

      Ha, here we go, haha.
Thought they closed that loophole, check the T&C for minimum cost.

      • +1

I see. The $1200 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will replace the value of the Voucher stated in the Critical Information Summary.

I guess i will have to wait for another trade in deal.

    • keen to know what the cancellation on this one is after this voucher payment thing.

Say after first month which is apparently 23/24 x Voucher amount (in the T&C)

      What is the voucher amount?

  • can you cancel the plan and keept the phone, whats the outright cost
