  • M4 Apple event next month.

  • OW going to have stock of the new iPhone for collection on 20 Sep?

    • +2

Yes so far demand not as high as previous years. Even ordering today at JB, you can get pickup on launch day which was defs not the case in previous years

    • Pre order?

  • Damn no stainless steel Apple Watch deals

  • +2

Can I still earned the point by paying via giftcards?

    • I expect so but I'd be keen to know the answer for anyone who has an idea.

      • +1

Points are awarded after savings and discounts and excludes gift cards, print & copy cards, iTunes cards, mobile plans & recharge cards, donations, services and delivery charges

        • +1

Sorry, I might be having a hard time understanding this clause. Is that a yes or no? Seems to me like you won't earn points if buying giftcards. But no mention of payment via giftcards.

          • +1

@Ramennightmare: You might be correct, excludes the purchase of gift cards not the use of gift cards as payment.

      • +1

If you pay by GC you will still get Flybuys points.

      • Yes, that's what I am thinking. Looking for the new iPhone. So not sure Officeworks will have stock on launch day. Last year the stock was extremely scarce.

        • +1

Not the case this year. Demand not as high. Ordering at JB today, you can get pickup on launch day still. A few days out in previous years, you'd have had to wait a few weeks at least

      • But can they be converted into a single officeworks card?

      • +1

Officeworks isn't a retailer on the Ultimate Her nor Ultimate Him gift cards, as far as I can see.

Meaning you'd have to buy tens of the $50 Ultimate Students gift card. At which point you'd still have the challenge of either converting to a single Officeworks gift card, or trying to use all of your Ultimate gift cards for a single purchase at Officeworks.

Theoretically possible, but not really practical…

    • +2

Can confirm. Made purchase using giftcards and received flybuys points..
(Not this promotion, just speaking broadly)

    • Yes

  • How many GC can be used in Officeworks online?

    • +1

      1

      • How about instore?

        • Officeworks’ point-of-sale system will allow multiple Ultimate / Celebration gift cards to be redeemed in one in-store transaction, and there is no known redemption limit coded into the system. The OzBargain record is currently 30.

However, redeeming multiple Ultimate / Celebration gift cards in a transaction will only be allowed at the discretion of the staff member operating the checkout. Although Officeworks staff nearly always permit multiple cards to be used in most transactions, you may run into a staff member who may refuse the redemption of multiple Ultimate or Celebration gift cards for any reason whatsoever (and this has happened to me once, and it has happened to this person too). I will point out that refusing split payments is highly unusual, especially if you are purchasing regular goods (e.g. an iPhone) instead of purchasing a gift card or SIM card.

The same advice should apply to the redemption of Officeworks gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards.

          • +2

@WookieMonster: But how about Officeworks branded gift cards? How many of these kinds of gift cards can be used online? For example JB HiFi allows multiple JB HiFi branded gift cards to be used on an online transaction. Thank you.

            • +1

@io: I reached out to a relative, who told me the redemption limit was one per online transaction (and they tried this a few months ago, I think).

              • +4

@WookieMonster: I have checked it now. Only one Officeworks branded gift card can be used online under Payment > Gift Card. Once you enter a valid gift card, there is no way to add another gift card.

      • Is there any way to merge multiple Ultimate Gift Cards into 1?

      • You are correct! Tried it, only one gc can be entered.

  • +2

Since the 20x points in Apple gift cards at Cole/Woolies is so frequent better to just wait

    • -3

Or just use both for 35x?

      • LOL please explain

        • +1

I think he meant the stacking method above. Get the ultimate student 20x points, exchange to OW gc and pay via gc to earn the 15x points again.

  • Hmm M2 iPad, this or M4 iPad Pro ~$2,049 via AOC.

    Decisions decisions

    • I had M1 IPad and now have M4 and the difference across the board is barely noticeable, the screen is definitely nicer but not astoundingly better. I will say though if you’re gonna get an M4 then I suggest get the 13inch as the bezels on the 11 inch are HUGE , it’s so jarring holding it and seeing the bezels on it , reminds of like the iPhone 7/8 days (obviously not as drastic but still it’s strange such big bezels in 2024)

      • I seriously looked at the difference between my iPad Pro M1 against the M4, yes it’s a bit lighter, and the OLED screen is much nicer, but you lose a camera, the M4 thin-ness felt odd, but the fact that I had to buy a new Pencil as well, made the cost of the upgrade so expensive since I was the pro screen and that’s it, the better screen and I occasionally use the pencil when writing notes, but the price of my M1 has dropped so much on the 2nd hand market even though it’s still got monthly AppleCare+ which I think you can transfer to someone, have to recheck with AppleCare, but going from the iPad Pro M1 - do not get swindled by the undervalued trade ins - you will get far more on marketplace or eBay - never buy base RAM, I’ve not bought base RAM on an Apple device in 8 years and only in the past six months where I had been doing some video and still photos in RAW and upgraded my iCloud so I was breaking stuff up because I have 256GB M1 11” (the 12.9” I just cannot justify the price) but neither can I justify a 1TB model when Apple charge $200 more each upgrade for a $20 NAND chip.

Android users sit there saying man RAM upgrades are so expensive on all their devices. There is no need. Once you hit 1TB iirc they add RAM to the CPU which changes your app performance over. But if I got $800-$900 for my M1 and Pencil my upgrade cost going to a 512GB model and a new Pencil Pro was more than a graphics workstation like the HP Envy which I can do so much more with, except the OLED screen on that iPad was the only compelling thing for me and the cost for that I just couldn’t justify especially when I’m not a designer and so I don’t claim it all on tax it was impossible upgrade but I don’t expect another model until 2026. I might get one some time in 2025. Apple and our exchange rate don’t make sense either. I’d totally get this deal if I was upgrading from an older phone but coming from an iPhone Pro 14. USB-C would make the biggest different for me. But interest comments.

Sorry my post is so long.

        • can you elaborate why never to buy base RAM?

    • Not much difference really unless you’re power user using it for professional work. If you don’t really upgrade your iPad every 2-3 years, just go with M4 for future proof.

  • +1

Dang, coulda stacked the iPhone trade in

    • Where did you get that? I am planning to trade in mine actually. Would love to confirm before buying a bunch of GCs.

      • +2

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/866422

Thinking about stacking it myself. Looks like there is one day of overlap for the offers.

        • Thanks, but I got an older iPhone (Xs) so the normal trade in should still work for me. Though I plan to use Amex card to get the screen insurance so probably will just keep the GC instead of using it on the new phone (as I assume I need to pay in full).

  • For 16 pro max, only the 512GB in Titanium is available and this deal expires at the end of this week.
If not your cup of tea, then don’t have to waste your time.

    • Do you mean the natural titanium colour? All 4 colours are technically titanium

      • Ah, you are right. The natural titanium.

  • So if I order that iPhone 16 pro max now, for pickup on Friday 20th Sept, would that qualify? Is the purchase date when you place the order online or when you pick it up?

    • +1

Purchase date is the one that counts.

  • +2

    Max savings:

OnePass's 15x Flybuys Points + Officework's price beat + pay using discounted gift cards + TRS (no more than 60 days before departure).

    • +2

Who has a lower price on the new iPhone to price beat?

    • TRS?

      • +1

People always tack this on like everyone is leaving the country in a hurry when they buy an expensive item.

It's mostly irrelevant as it means you can get the GST component back at the airport.

        https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

        • +6

People also conveniently forget the part about declaring the item on your return and having to repay the GST for the amount in excess of the allowance.

    • TRS (tax back) + tax return for work purposes :)

    • +3

      You can do one better:

OnePass's 15x Flybuys Points + Officework's price beat + pay using discounted gift cards + TRS (no more than 60 days before departure) + 2% Cashback on gift card purchases using HSBC

  • +1

It’s so interesting that pro max is sold out almost everywhere yet normal Pro is readily in stock, I’m surprised Pro isn’t more popular considering it’s now 6.3 inch screen. I’d think Pro max at 6.9 inch would be getting a bit too big for people

  • +1

Not bad, if you can get one. For me, use this 7.5% off and pay by the Amex platinum card which provide smartphone Screen Cover seems worth it.

    • Plan to do the same

  • We did this on 2 phones plus the trade in deal. Nice!

  • Can price beat be used with trade in?

  • This seems easily surpassed by the x20 GC deals at Coles, no?

    • +2

See above stacking method. Get 20x GC and pay for it using GC and earned 15x points.

  • does this include preorders for ultra watches? Do you think there will be stock on friday?

  • Thinking of replacing wife's iPhone XR with this deal.

Doesn't seem to be much difference between base 15 and 16 models? Don't think AI is a big deal.

It's mainly camera and more storage (up from 64GB) that she'll appreciate most.

    • Base 16 is a much better phone for future proofing. It jumps two generations in chips from A16 to A18, it has been increased to 8GB ram , better camera + camera control that the wife may appreciate, colours are much nicer and wife would probably find more appealing. Plus don’t forget Apple are marketing geniuses and will shove AI down our throats and I’m sure she’ll eventually start seeing it everywhere and find at least 1 part of it interesting and you hate for her to he like “why can’t my 15 do any of these features” , save your future self the hassle now

      • Thank you!

  • +1

    Planning to stack $250 trade in gift card + 7.5% + GC 10% + price beat 5%

does anyone see any reason that wont work?

Just need to find a price bellow $1997 for the 256gb pro to price beat against somewhere else.

    • Not sure if Officeworks price matches against Costco?

      • Yes they do pricematch costco

    • I was thinking 10% GC but couldn't buy $1k+ from supermarkets anymore with their 5 card limit.

    • Sorry, bit slow - what does GC “10%” refer to?

Officeworks gift cards at 10% discount? Didn’t know this exists!

      • a deal like this, the Ultimate Student gift card works at officeworks apparently.

and @RaijnAU the limit on that deal was 30000 points or $1500 worth of gift cards.

        • I only saw these 2 deals yesterday. Unfortunately Coles has a limit of 5 gift cards per day.

          • @RaijnAU: oh, as a store wide rule? then yeah it would take a long time to buy $50 Ultimate Student cards, 5 a day for 5 days to get your value, driving to coles, going in store.

A good deal on paper, sometimes its just not worth the savings. If you had multiple flybuys cards maybe, but you still have to find 30-40 $50 Ultimate Student cards in a store.

  • If we order it tomorrow, does it still need to be C&C or can we use delivery? I know normally it has to be C&C to claim flybuys but with the promo didn’t look like it specified, so if the phone is out of stock for C&C, you can still get the phone you want delivered as well as the x15 flybuys?

  • +1

This might have been mentioned, but i reckon they've got the start date wrong, its says Friday the 19th, so i assume its Friday the 20th it starts

Im trying to grab one of the bunnings items but its not yet live

    • I can only see dates not days in the promo banner

  • it doesnt look like the promo covers the iphone 16s, only 15s. hopefully that changes tomorrow when its released?

    • where did you see that the iphone 16s weren’t covered? i was planning to preorder one today.

      • if you compare the page between the iphone 16 pro max and the iphone 15 pro max it only displays the 15x flybuys tag on the right.
i have a feeling they havent updated the site completely to reflect it

        • +1

looks like it appears under the features tab on the 16 pro max page though

          • @jdsouza: ah cheers, i didnt see that! i think it would be fine then

  • +1

if you order online delivered is it 15x or 10x flybuys points (no click and collect)?

  • +3

Guys please take note of the requirement to have OnePass linked to FlyBuys. I double checked my account and for some reason it was no longer linked.

  • Just bought a Macbook Air M3 16/512 for $1997 at Officeworks - thanks for the heads up on the deal. Hopefully I followed all the account linking instructions properly.

  • Deal is live

  • So would that be $160 off for the IPhone 16 pro max 256GB ?

  • +1

Has anyone priced matched iPhone 16 pro with Costco yet

    • Also curious with this - and If I've ordered can I cancel on pickup and price match if this works - anyone know?

Update: Called up, they said Costco is fine to price match however they can't price match a Pre-order. They (OW) need to have stock of the item to price match. Hoping when I go to collect my order I can try.

      • I was told that the first time I called this morning, waited an hour and tried again and the lady on the phone price beat no problems. I guess it will depend on your luck of who you get.

    • I managed to call and get OW to price beat with Costco for a 16 pro max 512 and a 16 pro 512
Prices ended up being $2279.99 and $2156.49. Hope that helps!

      • hi, how did you manage this when costco has no stock? i thought OW only price beat when it is in stock?

        • +1

I think it just depends on who you get on the phone. I got the price beat on my second attempt. The point is that it is possible if you are bothered to keep trying.

          • @Dont Panic: thanks, ill give it a go. hopefully it works

            • @Mishchap: I didn’t have any luck in store or by phone. How did you go?

              • @ihatemyjob: hi mate, i didnt have any luck either. im going to try again tomorrow morning and hopefully get it price beat then

      • +2

        Post receipt, please

  • +1

I managed to price beat the iPhone 15 pro with Costco's price and they confirmed I would still get the 15 x flybuys points

  • I’m going to officeworks tomorrow morning, I hope I can get an iPhone 16 pro 256g there. Can I price beat with Costco there? iPhone 16 pro is showing no stock on Costco’s website at the moment

    • how did you go

      • I ended up getting my iPhone 16 Pro in jibihifi, tried to walk in two officeworks in the morning, both showing no stock available. So went to jibihifi after work, they did price match with Costco, which is nice. And I also used my gift cards from last year (15% off) … so, not too bad.

        • Was about to try but then would miss out of the 5% price beat and 15x flybuy points.
