Decent price on the RX 7900 XTX, AMDs top of the line GPU. These seem pretty good value if you don't need NVIDIA features.

Good to see prices didn't drop much paid $1549 April 2023 for ASRock Radeon RX Phantom Gaming OC

Price for a 24GB card wont be dropping that quickly or anytime soon.
When Sony PS6 and the next Xbox come out with 32GB's of shared GDDR7 memory. Video Cards like this will be the go to second hand option as those consoles will be able to allocate around 24Gb's of video memory to the graphical portion of the iGPU.. All 8, 12 and even 16GB cards will not be good enough for exclusive PS6 and Next xbox ported games.

My guess, based on their history, is that 16GB of GDDR7 will be the new spec.

        Xbox ONE OG - 8GB DDR3 256bit

        Xbox ONE X - 12GB GDDR5 384bit

        Xbox SERIES S - 8GB GDDR6 128bit

        Xbox SERIES X - 10GB GDDR6 320bit

        PS4 PRO - 8GB GDDR5 256bit

        PS5 - 16GB GDDR6 256bit

        XBOX NEXT X - 20GB GDDR7 320bit
        or 24GB GDDR7 384bit

        XBOX NEXT S - 16GB GDDR7 256 bit

        PS6 - 24GB GDDR7 384bit

    It's not really cheap

Only a few years ago the RTX3070 "8Gb" card was selling for this price :)

    • huh? maybe from scalpers at the height of the crypto mining and gpu shortage

      • +4

Nope.. retail stores.. they were also selling the 3060 12GB for $1000.. But yes it was at the top of the crypto craze

        • damn you're right, i'm gonna blame covid for my poor memory :P

I bought my evga 3070 for $900 after 5 month preorder wait from PLE in 2021

  • If uncomfortable with shipping, then local stores generally have it at $1379 (plus cc fees).

Does anyone have recent experience with an amd 7000 series upgrade from Nvidia? All I can see online is a whole host of people complaining to kingdom come about bsods, game crashes and other bad experiences.

Been considering this card as an upgrade from my 3060 ti, but I would rather stay sub 60 fps at 1440p on the games I currently play than having to deal with rubbish drivers for extra $$ out of pocket.

Apparently radeon have really improved their drivers. Hardly hear anyone having issues like a few years ago

I finally upgraded my 1080ti to a 7900xtx early this year and have had no issues whatsoever. Always use DDU when changing GPU.

      • I'm currently on a 1080ti, thinking about doing the same. Would you say there is a significant difference after the upgrade?

I've used the RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900 XT & the RX 7800 XT, only issues I've had with them is idle power consumption being a tad high, mainly the 7900 XTX & 7900 XT, hovering around 85w either doing nothing in the desktop or just web browsing. AMD released several drivers remedying the issue but only worked for some AMD 7000 users, apart from that, cards worked great.

sounds like a reason to buy a mini pc for daily use

besides the house needs a dedicated VR room

My brother and best mate both upgraded from Nvidia (4070 ti and a 2060 respectively) to the 7900 xtx
And both have loved the move to AMD. They have not had any issues at all.

  • Code doesn't seem to work. Tried it on two different PCs and incognito mode.
