Switch Saver Terms and Conditions

    I believe register through the referral would be better if only electricity, always saw lots of compliant for not getting cashback from the energy compare in shopback. At least we sure can get the $75 credit from referral

    Can confirm that if you have any remaining credit when you switch gets refunded to you by EFT.
    You receive an email a few weeks after leaving stating you have credit Powershop wants to refund to you and to call them.

            @wisb0: Yeah when I read that I scoffed. However, it is possible the representative on the phone could have erroneously refunded me

            I signed up to the previous Powershop $150 sign up offer and was not able to stack with a referral. It was one or the other.

            This renewed deal's t&c also dosent exclude anyone from signing up again previously as well..

      Note for Cashrewards (Econnex) you need to stay with Powershop for minimum 75 days to get cashback. But for referrals you get the credit straight away.

    Did calculations for nine different providers (electricity only; no solar; in regional NSW; obtained as best recommendations from CompareTheMarket and EnergyMadeEasy), and found that PowerShop sits on 4th place (where the highest place represents the cheapest plan). The calculations were done for a single tenant dwelling, based upon my own electricity consumption data collected over the past 11 months. Move in/out and debit card fees were part of the calculations. So, a good market survey is suggested before blindly signing up with PowerShop.

      That's worse than just using a referral which gives you $75 straight away (and another Ozbargainer). Or Cashrewards ($140) if you plan to stay longer.
      I don't believe you can stack referral with One Big Switch.

        My gas meter was read on 23 Oct and power shop had not started my switch yet, so I thought I would have to wait another 3 months, but for some reason it got switched today.

        My power shop account only shows the 23 Oct read but the bill from the previous retailer was not a Final bill so who knows.

      it depends on your gas meter reading date, it can take up to 4 months per read

          For electricity when you have a smart meter, the meter reading is daily so they know how much to charge when they switch.
          For gas it require a manual read which they need to know how much to charge you and it is by the meter read which happens every 80 to 100 days.

    Hi guys, have some questions.

    I've switched my electric and gas to Powershop last month. Now I got my first bill of $120, and after $150 sign up credit + $75 VIC relief payment, the balance is $75 in credit.

    Does that mean the $150 applied for first bill only? Would the balance ($150 - $120 = $30) be carried out for the next bill or not?

    If I chunk to another electricity provider now, what happen to my credit? would I receive a refund?

      Depends where you are, another has said no gas only for Victoria, best you check with Powershop.

    They did not honour the deal and gave me $150 electricity and $50 gas credit.

    Not sure if an associate can help me out. Complained in chat, but they are insisting its $50 gas credit, when literally their own website scream $150 gas credit. And yes, I only very recently signed up and even screenshot the promotion to be $150 gas credit.

    Anyways, lesson learned and will churn out any avoid these guys in the future.

    Went with referral instead of CR - confirmed $150 on electricity and $150 on gas with the person on the phone, plus $75 referral credit.

    Figured $175 extra credit compared to the $200 cash rewards is better, since it's immediate.

    I just joined up with Power Shop despite being with them for a previous offer in July 2024. I read the terms and conditions and it didn't say you need to be a new customer or not with them in the previous 12 months. However, my account is now active and there's no credit there. If I'm not getting it, I'll cancel the plan. I've already churned through AGL, Engie, Alinta and Power Shop within the last 12 months so I was a bit desperate. Does the bonus credit show up in the account at the start or at billing time? I realise I can't get the $75 referral bonus as it does say you can't be a customer in the last 12 months.

      Credit will turn up on your first bill - usually in 3 months if billed quarterly. But if you can guestimate how much power you use each day (usually stated on the last bill) then you can switch to another provider when you use $150 of electricity. Your final bill would then be $0 - so I'd leave it for a week or 2 after to be sure to use up all the credit. And if there's no credit there - then may as well move anyway. Energy Australia are giving away $200 to NSW & VIC newbies but no love for QLD.

      There is nothing in the Ts & Cs that preclude it, give them a call to be sure, and don't forget to use a referral code for an extra $75 credit or sign up through cash rewards for $120 cash back.

    Just signed up with Switch Saver $150 + $75 referral link. All good so far - then read through the confirmation email:

    To be eligible to receive the $75 (incl. GST) credit (Friend Credit): - the premises you switch must be in VIC, NSW, QLD, SA and South East Queensland - you must not have been a Powershop customer in the last 12 months, and - you must sign up to a Powershop electricity plan online via the referral link sent to you, on or before Tuesday 31 December 2024.

    The Friend Credit will be applied as an off-set against the charges on your first electricity bill. If the charges on your first electricity bill are less than the Friend Credit, we’ll carry over the balance of the Friend Credit to your next bill. If your electricity market contract ends before you’ve incurred charges to the value of the Friend Credit, you’ll forfeit the balance of the Friend Credit – we won’t pay the balance as a refund. The Friend Credit also cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash and is not available in conjunction with any other promotional offers available through Powershop from time to time.
