      • Yeah doesn't matter what wins, just crazy you can get near supercar performance on a relatively inexpensive sports EV.

    • Can attest you can fully thrown backwards when you do the jump start. Last person I showed it to actually grabbed me as they flew backwards in shock.

  • +6

Man i'd put this into a powerpole or ditch so fast

  • I will wait for the newer refresh. Definitely a car I want to have as my next car. Currently have an excite 51.

  • +2

I'm stoked with my Excite 51 that I've had for a year now on 3 year novated lease but damn I wish I waited for this discount on a 3.8 sec weapon!

    • What's the real world range like?

      • +1

I'd say around 320km and that's with some spirited driving. I've heard most are usually about 10% less than quoted

        • That's good. Fairly close to the 350km advertised.

          • +1

@shxhshzhz: Can u charge using normal home ac outlet? How long does it take to charge to 80 or 100%?

        • I get 530 city driving. I also get 12 KWh per 100 regularly. Lots of regen.

  • +1

I drove one of these and it was awful given the power totally overwhelms the rest of the car. Somehow it also managed to be the only fast EV I drove that made me feel sick. In contrast the lower spec models are really nice 👍

    • I drive it daily. The speed doesn't even feel fast to me anymore.

In saying that I usually drive it normally because you know, I don't want to get fined and lose my license.

But it is nice if you want to make a quick move and you just know you have the speed to back it up.

      • Yep no argument it goes faster than the others. That said the pov spec with 125kw still pokes about pretty nicely and has most of the spec sheet anyway. As is the case with all EVs lighter more efficient too.

      • Yeah the excite 51 doesn’t feel fast anymore from an ice car. You get used to the torque the more you drive it.

Got the $68k(ish) byd seal performance 7.5 months ago (novated leasing) - better car & no regrets (esp. with LFP batt vs the Xpower's NMC), but maybe not $18k better.
Probably will regret it when BYD drop their prices to follow suit by the end of the year. Don't know how something like an ICE Camry can compete

    • +1

The Hybrid Camry is the 'Uber' (ride share) industry benchmark and most desired car. Mostly because of how cheaply they can do 600km per day with 0 range anxiety.

I am also comparing BYDs and MG4s as a second car for school drop offs then medium drives to work. I am not sure if I should novated lease or not.

      • I have done 1000km in the camry Hybrid in one tank

        • +1

And I've done 1300 km on a tank in a Ford Mondeo diesel.

        • +1

And I have driven EV's over a 1000km without paying for petrol or power to drive.

    • Having been in both (I own one and my mate got the Seal). I would've rather got a seal at release price if I had been patient.

18k difference? The Xpower is a way better deal.

    • +2

I also have a Seal Performance and was interested in the XPower also. Even at $50K I’d pick the Seal everyday of the week for the bigger vehicle, much better interior, OTA updates, LFP battery and the software is better.

      • Well that's just your biased showing since you bought one. Nothing wrong with that. Same people who swear by Xbox over PS5 etc etc.

        • +2

Funny thing that about opinions isn’t it.

But it’s my opinion based on extensively testing both before deciding on which to buy. I could have bought the XPower with a $6K rebate here in QLD but still chose the Seal because it’s simply a better car IMO and worth the extra.

Even if I bought an XPower I’d still say the Seal is a bet package.

          • +1

@MaximumEffort777: I compared 2023 MG HS+ EV and BYD Sealion 6, even at $39K at that time the MG interior looked so cheaply made. To be fair, I decided not to go for a test drive so dunno abt rude quality.

      • The Seal is really heavy at 2.2 tons. Felt like a fourbie.

        • +1

Compared to what though? The weight is really well balanced with low centre of gravity - could probably manoeuvre just as well, if not better than 1.6t camry. Most mid-size SUVs are over 2t anyway

    • +1

Driven them all including the EV6 GT. The ev6 was the only real performer when looking at the whole package (adaptive dampers, LSD, big brakes and much better tyres). I went the seal premium but if I needed more speed I'd have no issues paying $18k more for the performance over the MG4. They aren't really comparable apart from 0-100 times.

      • +3

EV6 is 32k more expensive than the seal though. Hell you could literally buy 2x Xpowers for an EV6 GT X'D

        • +1

But you can only drive one car at a time!

        • They aren't selling anywhere near RRP even new so it's closer to 15k now.

      • Waiting for the BYD performance sea lion 7. That should be the best choice in features, speed and battery longevity.

  • You can get near new Demo's for mid 40's

Definitely room to negotiate on the prices above

  • +3

Damn this thing is a supercar killer

    • +4

Until the first corner and you understeer into a tree ;)

  • Not ready for pure EV yet, but generally speaking they do show the market that technology can be included at a reasonable price, and hopefully pushes ICE cars to become better equipped.

  • What does $8K factory off bonus mean? Is it 8K off the RRP?

  • I bought excite 51 last week for 30999 including 7kw charger (free)).
This car is game changer. I recorded video 0 to 100 in 6.3 seconds. Loved car performance. Beat a mercedes guy on lights he was like which model is this bro never seen on road 😅😅.

    • Must not be in WA………..They give nothing free

    • -2

Wow the only thing to boast about is straight line speed. Literally zero else to talk about. Cringe.

  • This Xpower is amazing. The power is insane. Just wish they had this drivetrain in a SUV model that looked like their new HS ice SUV. That would be perfect.

  • How much is excite 64b, it shows 8k factory bonus, but no price on website?

  • Unsure if this is applicable. slight issue: undertray issue (slight gap) issued a tsb. suggestion is new buyers get sales to agree to get it fixed:

If you’re buying a new MG4 make sure you insist that the sales person agrees by email (so there is a record) that they will check the undertray of your car during pre delivery checks and fix it as per AS-TEC-02112023-01 if there is an area that looks: https://www.bhatt.id.au/blog/before-after-photos-mg4-undertr… third pic
