Those are great prices for the most rock solid reliable SSD on the market > Samsung 830 :)
Not a big fan of the Samsung 840 (non pro) its slower then the 830 and has a shorter lifespan with the use of cheap nand

    • is it slower?
Its NAND is capable of faster isnt it? does the controller hold it back?

Regardless, 830 is king for sure.

Good price on the HP Envy +1

Comparing with iii. HP Envy 4 Core i3 SleekBook - $495 - Free Delivery Australia Wide posted above - a better option would be this?

      of course!

    • Thanks for pointing that out. Seems good for that price also.

      • No worries - the only reason I spotted that was because I was just looking at a laptop for a colleague. The JB price includes the current 15% off sale I believe.

    • I personally checked it out at JB and this one is a plastic body. Metallic body looks 200% better.

  • the 840 Non-pro is 120GB not 128gb, should correct that in the description. Decent prices ^^

    • thanks ^^. Changed to the right number now.

      • Hi rep, any deals on the 512Gb Samsung 840 Pro Series coming up now or in the near future? I am in the market for one and want to purchase it ASAP.

        Thanks and regards,
        rusty

        • Hi rusty,

We will carry all sizes once they get in to Australia.

        • +1

Thanks but I can't wait longer (must have it NOW :-)

Just bought the 512mb 830 Series this morning. Thanks for the deal.

        • no worries, thanks for your support :).

  • Great prices shame i literally just bought an ssd

REP can you offer some deals on the Galaxy S3 3g 16gb? any colour as long as the price is below $479 shipped =)

    • :) We did gave them free on our newsletter promotion, but have not been able to sell them on a regular basis yet.

      • when was that? i have only seen 4g models recently

  • Couldn't say no… Was actually after this exact drive but hadn't gotten around to it yet, no more fudging around with a 128GB!

  • Hey Rep, any chance of a deal on the 830 128gb?

    • +2

Not enough stock to do any special. If you really love 830 series, keep in mind that 830 Series is in the process of being replaced by 840 series, so enjoy our deals while it lasted, whichever size you are interested in.

  • +1

    Code works a treat.

  • +1

why no discount for Samsung 830 SSD-128GB??? It's $92 at MSY. Can you make it $85 with your weekend discount?

    • +3

not enough stock to do any special.

  • +3

Not buying this time but some great prices there ShoppingExpress. Keep the deals happening.

    • +2

Yeah consistently good deals from SE

      • +1

        and Service too… i rate them 9 out of 10 :)

  • +2

tempting on that 512 GB Samsung 830.

  • Can you do any discounts on the 840 Pro's? Want four of them, any idea on 64gb release date for the Pro?

    • +2

      Added to the list:
128GB 840 Pro - $148 delivered, follow link to get the deal.
      http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/samsung-ssd-pro-840-se…

      • I don't know about this one but heard from people saying that it shorten the life due to poor reliability.

        • +1

No that was a firmware issue with review samples of the drive failing.. Samsung fixed the issue only with the retail versions.. was cutting it VERY close

I should know as i started the first post about this very issue with the 840 Pro's more can be found at the link to my post on the subject over at Anandtech

Samsung must hate me big time :) as i pretty much started a massive internet topic about failing drives that even your friends ended up hearing about. haha dont mess with the vid ghost.. been trolling the net since 1996

  • Look like there are 2 options: paypal or electronic transfer….but no CC???

    • Can do CC with Paypal account.

      • Yeah but it will be extra fee.

        • LOL how much tighter your arse can go? Pay up, the free shipping already negate the tiny bit for extra gold coin spend.

        • hahah, that's why i prefer cc and happy to pay for it but using pp, you will be forced to pay a little extra fee!

        • +2

you can bypass paypal, by choosing to pay via credit card without paypal account.
          to do so:
select paypal payment method, and on that page, look for the option/link:

          Don't have a paypal account?
Pay with your credit or debit card

        • Thank you,I will think about it. I wish you give us a discount on 128GB Samsung 830. 256GB seem excessive because I don't install not much except gaming softwares - BF3, BC2, LFD2. It seems plenty of storage in 128GB.

        • What fee? I thought there is no fee if we do payment.

        • Paypal fee. I wanted to choose CC over pp to avoid extra fee if using pp.

        • Well I have a 128GB SSD I recently installed for my boot drive.. one of the best upgrades I have ever done, but IMO 128GB is NOT enough as a full windows boot drive and then add in games.. I too wanted BF3, D3,BO, BO2 etc but have run out of space. Hence why I am looking at at either a 128GB to add, or just go 256GB. If you don't have one yet, go 256GB.

        • +1

Really? I've never been charged when do payment. Does it depends on the seller?

        • i ordered a 256gb 830 and used paypal… i didn't get hit with a fee… so i dunno what you're on about

        • I guess I was wrong. I think I understand that if you buy it oversea, you get cc charged for sure but if you buy it locally, it won't be charged.

        • Only the seller gets charged fees.

For purchases in foreign currency, you will get an unfavourable exchange rate if you use paypal's default rates. Your bank CC will also charge you a fee…uneless it's the 28 Degrees Mastercard.

        • Yeah that's right.

  • +1

Yes. Been waiting for this to come back up. Buying this time.

    Thanks Guys.

Does anyone know if the Samsung 840 ssd is noisy?

    • +6

It's an SSd…. there's no moving parts…. no noise at all.

  • Rep, as one op mentioned above:

    14-B029TU
    3rd Generation Intel Core i3-3217u 1.8GHz CPU
    4GB RAM
    1TB HDD
    Windows 8

Would you put more effort for yours?

  • +4

Yup yup. We've had to RMA 3 x 128GB 840Pro (not from SE) with only a weeks worth of testing. We'll be sticking to the 830s for now.

    • Thanks for telling us!

    • +1

Were they running pre-production firmware, or the production version?

    • Yikes! I might reconsider the plan to buy a 512Gb 840 Pro Series then. Maybe the 512GB 830 series is a better bet. Thanks for the heads up.

    • +2

pre-production firmware has issued that kill the drive .. check link for more info.

finally bought one after waiting for an awesome deal, thanks SE!

  • @ShoppingExpress
Do you do delivery to a PO Box?

    Thank You,
    George

    • Hi George,

      Yes we do.

  • +1

Under $200 delivered for the 256GB 830, sold me.

  • What's some good software to clone existing hard drive that has a recovery partition?

    • samsung ssd includes a downloadable symantec ghost 15 which you can use.

      • sweet, didn't realise that, thanks.

      • Reading online it seems some versions of the Samsung drives come with Ghost 15 (eg retail and upgrade kits) but the cheaper "bare bones" version of the drive does not.

Are these retail or bare bones versions of the drives ?

  • +2

Just ordered the 256GB 830. It is good to note that the discount code also includes the post + insurance. I had to enter the coupon code again once I got to the checkout page and it updated the discount to negate the shipping again.

    Thanks for the awesome deal!

    • As somebody who was so caught up in the excitement of the savings to be had, I really wish I'd read your comment earlier. Bit paranoid now that I'm getting mine shipped without insurance :/

      • +1

Should be right mate. I don't usually get insurance and I've never had a problem with eParcels. Only got the insurance this time because it was free.

  • +1

I have had the 512gb for over a month now and love having all my steam games installed on an SSD. Thinking of another and running a raid 0!! MMMMmmmmm

  • +1

SE - are you able to confirm what firmware the 840 series your selling has ? seems the newer ones with firmware revision (3B0Q/6B0Q) are the issue free ones

  • Just ordered the 256gb. I was going to get an extra hdd and bluray drive but the free shipping is not sitewide so maybe next time. Still an awesome deal!

  • Looking to get the 256Gb 830. Before I do though, is it worth considering the 840 pro (about $80 more)? Or would any other drive be a better option, say a Sandisk or Intel?

    • 830 all the way dude!

      • Whelp, it's ordered now. Yay for OS installations and all-dat-speed-yo!

  • +2

Just ordered the 256Gb, can't wait to have it

  • +1

    Great deal!

  • +1

Pulled the trigger on the 512GB 830.
My 256GB SSD is maxed out and I have a tonne of new games to play ;p

    Thanks OP!

  • Hey Rep,

Did you get my message? I have 2 order numbers. Please get rid one of them. I ordered 256GB one with paypal account.

    Thanks.

  • +3

    Hi All,

Thanks for the massive support :). We have limited the Samsung 256GB to 1 per person now, as stocks are running really low and we want more people to enjoy the deal.

    • +3

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for not forcing me to make an account. It's a little ironic that not making me invest in and connect with your site actually makes me more likely to shop with you guys again. :P

  • How long would shipping take to metropolitan South Aust?

I was going to pick up the 256GB 830 from MSY today for $195, but I don't mind waiting a few extra days to save $10 — only if it doesn't take 2+ weeks to arrive!

    • Hi tryonthis,

The rough estimate of delivery times for Australia Post from NSW to SA is 3 to 5 business days. If you make your purchase now, there is a chance the Samsung 830 will be dispatch today, and you may receive it by mid to end of next week.

Below is the chart for estimated delivery time:
      Sydney 1-2 business days
NSW / ACT 1-3 business days
      VIC 2-5 business days
      QLD 2-5 business days
      SA 3-5 business days
      WA 3-6 business days
      NT 4-6 business days
      TAS 3-6 business days

      • Thanks.

Just placed my order. Would be fantastic if you could post it out today! Thanks for the great deal :)

      • wooohooo, hope i get it by Monday or Tuesday!

  • Now that Ive used an SSD for a while does anyone think I can ever go back to a plain HDD….

  • Along with the above I think that Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF300T 10.1 inch Table PC 1GB 32GB IPS Docking White TF300T-1A098A (http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/asus-eee-pad-transform…) is a fantastic price and people should take advantage.

    I've ordered mine.

    • thats a good price!

  • This came at a good time! Was going to buy a new SSD this weekend so ended up with the 256GB Samsung 830. Much cheaper than the Vertex 4's I was looking at :)

  • As tempted as I am, waiting for the Crucial M4 specials to come back :)

    • Marvell, ew…

  • arghh i tried really hard to wait for this deal to expire but … now i got myself one of the 830 …

  • trying to purchase the samsung 120gb ssd drive, have applied coupon code and price has come down to $99 but its still trying to charge me shipping when add says shipping is included.

    • While in the shopping cart, try entering your postcode and clicking apply before applying the coupon code (as per instructions at the bottom of the bargain details).

  • +1

Thanks rep, this is a great deal. I just jumped on the samsung 830 256gb ssd. Don't trust the 'plain' 840 and the performance increase on the 840 pro isn't justified for the extra cost. So I've ended up with a highly rated drive which will definitely boost performance on my laptop. Thanks!

  • now I just have to decide 256 or 512?

    • It'll be a while before I need more than 256GB. When that happens, I'm sure most of my data won't be critical and can be stored on an external HD. Just get the 256GB and save your money IMHO.

    • 256GB.

Slightly faster than 512GB and a lot cheaper at this current moment.

  • SE Rep - Any chance you can include the SATA-to-USB adapter with the 830 512 GB?
