        • Time to start Googling the answers big fella

  • Is this expired? Neither of the codes worked, I apply it and nothing happens.

    • Is your AliExpress account new with no orders?

      • No, have made a couple of prior orders before. I think it's a bug as I see other people experience the same thing. I see a "welcome deal" in a red banner at the top but it doesn't show any code at checkout. As mentioned by other users, could be automatically applied and conflicts with this coupon. Weird

  • +1

Thanks! 2nd code worked for me, the 1st code said it was first come first served and it'd already been claimed by other people

  • Codes doesn't work for me.

  • no deal on the codes brother

  • Second code worked for me.

    • UPDATE: second code working 👍

  • What a garbage website.
The 2nd code worked, got all the way through the payment process, then was told my payment method denied the purchase.
When I try to repeat the process (going to use a different payment method this time), I apparently "used up" my first purchase discount as well as the code listed here. So its showing as $169.49 USD at checkout.

    • +2

It should show as pending payment on the orders screen and you can use another payment method.

      • Awesome, thanks for your help. All sorted now!

  • Well, my currency rate is not that good, I paid $217.86 but still happy. Thanks OP

  • Damn this is tempting. Would anyone buy a used 3600?

  • both codes are not working for me - not a new account

  • has the price gone up since the first post? shows as 145.06 usd in the store for me. 15 coupon, 14.51 tax for a total of 144.57 usd in my cart.

    • Yep price increase

  • Alternate store on aliexpress has the discount.

    Paid 218 shipped today.

  • +1

Bought today with the coupons for $219, with a $25 cashback tracked in Cashrewards. Final price of AU$194 is pretty sweet.

  • Arrived yesterday. Updated BIOS to support it and my mobo got bricked from the update.

Got a new mobo today for $220 so now I'm $435 in the hole for this upgrade - should have just gone 9th gen.

    • Hehe mobo haven't heard that in a long time.

Dont all mobos made in the 10 years have dual bios for that scenario? Put old cpu in and Boot to the other one and off go.

Should be able fix the bricked fw also.

      • It apparently does have dual bios and I tried every trick to boot into it, including shorting the main bios.

No matter what I did I'd get the POST screen and that's it. Keyboard wouldn't work so I couldn't get into bios to test anything. No q-flash on the mobo so I couldn't reflash without entering bios. Spent 3 hours trying everything I could find but most people in my exact scenario ended up getting a new mobo.

        • Damn.. that is unlucky.

Ive only had one failed fw update and the 2nd bios feature saved me.

Oh well new mobo is likely better anyway.

          Enjoy.

        • what was your old MB and what is your new one?

So if you had q-flash it likely would have been OK? Is q-flash the same as BIOS flashback?

Edit: read the comment below which MB you had. What did you upgrade to?

          • @Ice009: Old was Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi and new is TUF Gaming B550

No Q-Flash on old motherboard. There is a backup bios but I couldn't get into it. Tried everything I found online with the final resort being attempting to short the main bios chip. When that didn't work I threw in the towel.

I've had a lot of people ask "did you try this" so here's what happened

            • Upgraded BIOS from F60 (released March 2021) to F66d (released Sep 02 2024) (didn't realise this was a beta version until I read later that versions with letters are - but that still shouldn't brick the board)
            • PC rebooted and left me hanging on splash screen with no keyboard input recognised
            • Mobo had a VGA light on indicating there was a problem with GPU - old CPU was a 3600 and had no onboard graphics, so couldn't test without
            • GPU (3070) would power on, screen showed splash screen and then GPU fans would stop spinning when VGA light came on
            • Shorted CMOS
            • Took CMOS battery out for over 20 mins
            • Took out all RAM except one - and swapped the RAM as well when 1 didn't work
            • Tried different slots for RAM
            • Took out ALL storage including M.2
            • Tried different PCI slot for GPU
            • turned pc on and off on quick succession and also held down power button for ages in an attempt to get to backup bios
            • Attempted* to short main bios - *I say attempt because nothing different happened
            • Attempted to short backup bios

Basically all that happened was it would boot to the BIOS splash screen and then nothing. Left it for an hour - nothing. Smashed every key on my keyboard - nothing. Tried a different keyboard - nothing.

New mobo went in and everything booted up fine - GPU is not a problem.

Might put the old mobo up on Marketplace for free with the caveat that if they fix it they tell me how because I spent hours trying to resolve it myself.

Worth noting I had previously updated the BIOS from some version to the f60 it was on. Can't remember what from or when I got the mobo, all I know it was from an ozb deal.

            • @SnowDragon: Wow, didn't realize you put in that much effort to try and get it working. What forums/places did you end up asking for help? Pretty thorough list of things you tried.

Only thing I can think of is maybe upgrading to a non-beta BIOS first might have worked out better, but no idea apart from that. I guess like you said, though, it shouldn't really matter what BIOS you're upgrading from. I don't recall having any issues with any MB upgrading from an older BIOS to a much newer one.

Did you try contacting Gigabyte to ask if there was anything they could do? Even if it's out of warranty, maybe they might have helped?

Not sure where the best places to buy MBs are these days as I haven't bought one for just over 4 years ago when I bought my current Crosshair 8 Hero MB. Are many AM4 MBs still sold these days? Where did you get the B550 from?

I think I'd rather just stay on AM4 for a while longer. Just got to decide what CPU to get between the 5700X3D or maybe a 5900XT if I want more cores. I'm guessing either CPU is going to be a good boost compared to my 3900XT.

Anyone know why the 5800X3D isn't being sold anymore? Is there performance difference much between the 5800X3D and the 5700X3D?

              • @Ice009: Didn't post anywhere really because from the few forums I'd seen my exact problem posted on, the OPs just got new mobos so I had no hope.
I think the last resort was to solder and use a raspberry pi or something to flash the bios but I didn't have the patience or time to screw around.

I did message Gigabyte and they basically said "we installed that update on our motherboards and it worked" and to contact where I bought it etc. I think it's over 4 years old at this point so warranty is basically gone and I can't remember where I got it from.

I listed the mobo on Marketplace yesterday with the list above of what I tried and still got two people message asking if I tried the exact things I listed lol. Sold it for $50 along with the 3600 with the caveat that the person who takes it tells me how they fixed it if they do.

Got the B550 from my local MSY for more than some B650s go for - they're slowly running out of stock I think. The new mobo I got was listed on OzB back in 2021 for $150 so bit rough to pay $220 for it now.

Worst part is I didn't even need to update my BIOS because the last time I did it, the patch brought in support for the 5xxx series. I was just doing it to be extra careful.

Yeah, darn, that would have been out of my skill set. Would you have been able to do that if you had the time/patience?

I would have contacted them and pushed a bit harder. Seems like they didn't care. Good that you did contact them, but still, I would have thought they'd help. You could have sent it in to them to have their techs take a look. Maybe they could have fixed it for a small fee.

FB Marketplace? I guess some of them didn't read the list at all of what you've tried ;).

That sucks. Sorry that you had to pay extra. I didn't realize you could get a B650 MB for less than the B550. If you didn't already have the 5700X3D, and you tried updating the BIOS and if failed, would you have went with AM5 instead?

Worst part is I didn't even need to update my BIOS because the last time I did it, the patch brought in support for the 5xxx series. I was just doing it >to be extra careful.

I've always wondered this. Would the 5700X3D still have worked since it's a newer CPU? Are you saying if it's got the code for the older 5xxx series CPUs that it will still work with unreleased future 5xxx series CPUs?

I usually upgrade the BIOS on my MB at least once a year. I don't normally jump onto a new BIOS right away, though. There is a pretty big thread at Overclock.net for my MB as it was a pretty popular MB at the time of release, so I just usually look there to see if people had any issues before upgrading. Having said that, though, I just upgraded the BIOS a few weeks ago with the latest one that hasn't been released for long. The MB has BIOS flashback, though, so I thought I could always go back to the one I was on if there was any issues.

The main thing I worry about when updating is power issues such as brownouts etc. while doing the update. If the power goes out, does that brick the MB, or can it usually still be OK if it happens in the middle of a BIOS update? I also don't even know if my MB has two BIOS chips as I don't remember reading it in the specs.

would you have went with AM5 instead?

If I didn't buy the CPU by itself I would have upgraded everything, probably a techfast deal, and sold the whole rig complete.

Would the 5700X3D still have worked since it's a newer CPU?

The mobo by default supported the 3xxx series and when 5xxx came out they released a patch to support 5xxx. They are both AM4, so it's supported hardware, I assume the patch just had to support the software.

to see if people had any issues before upgrading.

Unfortunately it's not something I've thought about looking for until something goes wrong. Like when you have a bad experience and leave a bad review. 99% of the time it's positive so you don't bother.

    • Damn, which mobo if you don't mind?

      • Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi.

Last bios update I did was in 2021 and it went smoothly. Staying away from Gigabyte in the future now

        • What happened when it bricked? It wasn't a power issue or anything during the upgrade? Maybe cause you had such an old BIOS on the board could have been a big jump to the new one?

  • Did anyone buy from these guys - did it all work out ok?

    • Yes. Installed now. Works perfectly.

  • +2

Got my 5700x3d delivered and installed, tried gaming for 30mins all good. Run cinebench 23 all good with default and PBO CO negative 30 setting.

  • Even though the deal has ended, I just wanted to ask - I have a 3900XT and have been thinking what to do the past 6 months or so.

I originally was thinking about a 5800X3D, but see they are no longer sold. Why did they discontinue them? Is the 5700X3D much worse performance wise?

Video card is a AMD 6900XT, 3900XT, 32GB RAM. I was thinking of upgrading the RAM to 64GB and another AM4 CPU. Monitor resolution is 1440p 165Hz.

I saw that AMD released CPUs such as the 5700X3D and also 5900X, and since I already have a 12-core, would kind of prefer not stepping down to 8 cores just in case I want to do video encoding and stuff that might make use of extra cores, or would the 8 core 5700X3D still be faster than my 3900XT in some multicore stuff?

Would there be a lot of difference in gaming if I went with the 5900X instead of the 5700X3D?

    • If going AMD on AM4, Get the 5700x3d whilst you can. Worth it for 3d cache.
