  • So I sign up, they will send me a SIM in the mail… activate that SIM and keep my same phone number and have 25GB?

    Did I miss anything?

If not, seems like a good deal to move to this and then back on to Boost Mobile?

    • Which boost plan will you get? I couldn't complete the purchase in the last cashback deal :/

      • 260GB Annual Plan from eBay

  • Cheers got one,

  • How long until you have to activate?

I'm taking a guess we have until 30th November to activate the service, since that is the end of the promotional period in their terms and conditions.

Wow. With $15 referral credit I can get 15 of these suckers. Or one for $1 and next renewals $10…
I'll try one for a buck and see how it goes for the cheap data.

VoLTE as a feature is redundant now.

Referral code is for Swoop Broadband

      • Seems dumb that it was in the listing then. Ozb bug…
I was joking anyway…. $1 for one moth is the only way I'd use the deal.

Where do you put the referral code?

Edit: Thanks to easternculture for answering above.

it isn't really prepaid, says month to month

    • Ok, I removed Prepaid from title

    • +3

From Critical Information Summary, this plan is a post-paid mobile service.

      • +2

        Shit. Hopefully no credit check

      • Sorry, I missed that.

It's month to month post paid billed each month, but it says "no contract".
Not sure what's the process to cancel after 1 month.
Can we stop billing from next month by cancelling the service or have to port-out?
Will number be active once cancelled as we can with Boost/Amaysim after stopping auto-recharge?

I always wonder what is the benefit of 5G when it's throttled?

More consistent speeds, better coverage with more towers?

    • It's meant to be for the sake of congestion.

      But 5G already showing congestion.

    • Not a fantastic explanation but 100mbps 5G is probably still quicker than 4G? 4G doesn't usually get to those speeds.

I mean, whether or not 5G in practice ever gets to 100mbps is another matter, but my point is that the cap theoretically still allows you to achieve a speed that is greater than that is typically achievable on 4G

Better coverage -> probably not, right? since 5G coverage is smaller than 4G?

      • 4g would easily get 100mbs… Usually much higher, well Telstra 4g, maybe not Optus.

        • Easily, really?

Ok I admit I'm not sure about Telstra 4G but I typically find 4G tops out at around 60-80mbps

    • Any 5G service/device I've tried has taken so long to "get going" that I always switch back to 4G. It's like they get hung on a DNS lookup or something. Infuriating.

  • Will they keep defaulting my location to Melbourne like they kept doing with the NBN?

    • Broken geo-ip or actually routing your connection via Melbourne?

Either way, that's a no and Optus would be handling the routing of mobile data. (Not that your trust in them was much higher)

      • who knows, each month my IP used to change and default to melb geo-ip, id call them and it would be changed, then next month same thing

        • $5/month for a static IP might sort that.

    International roaming (See Roaming Rates)

It’s $15 for 24 hours or until 1GB of data is used (whichever comes first).

Am I a joke to you, Optus MVNO?

    • Funny, amaysim give 364 more days of use than this

  • +1

Can we switch or churn away after a week or before the time is up? Or need 30 days notice?

  • +2

    Early termination charges
There are no cancellation fees for a month-to-month
plan. Note: You could receive invoices with delayed
usage charges or any additional or non-included charges
for up to 2 months after you disconnect.

Don’t know why they would send invoices after 2 months of churning out.

    • 2 months? Wtf

  • I'm currently with Optus Prepaid - can I churn to this without too much drama? Thanks.

    You lost me at

    Uses Optus network
