Delivery Unlimited: Annual Plan $59.50 for the First Year (Ongoing $119/Year, New and Returning Subscribers) @ Woolworths

931

Just spotted in my woolies app - 50% off Delivery Unlimited Plan. Total annual plan cost is $59.50 for me OR $15/month. I don’t have much experience with woolies’ delivery service but if it’s anything like their direct to boot service, I would be expecting a lot of missing items/groceries and a lot of hassle. Still, managed to save quite a decent amount with the half price rewards membership, so I’m tempted to give this a go to save a trip and some more time.

Key benefits include:

    Wow nice find OP!
    Thanks 👍

Who’s a good nice female dog? you are!

  • +9

I subscribed to this last year for 50% off, in addition to the $35 Everyday Extra membership. As a busy family of 5, it has been worth every cent!
(the $75 minimum and $2 bag charge for delivery is a bit annoying though).

    • +5

can u avoid the $2 bag charge?

      • +2

Also keen on an answer to this.

      • +6

        Nope, not for delivery.
Only for direct to boot pick ups…But then in my experience if you go the BYO bag option they just wheel out a trolley with all your loose items which you have to sort and pack, which isn’t so bad if it’s only a few items, but a pain if you have heaps of random items. Ymmv

        • +1

They must be throwing many carton boxes away every day. They can put them into the boxes before putting them onto the trolley

          • +2

            @Suricate: Likely, but:
            1) they're all broken down and disposed of during nightfill, rather than being kept around and taking up storage space during the day
            2) even if they were kept, they wouldn't be enough for every pick-up/collect order, so people would then wind up questioning why they didn't get one and some would be charged/some not, leading to complaints (even though it's more efficient/ess wasteful)

          • +4

@Suricate: It's crushed and packed in pallets and sent back when they deliveries from truck, which is sold by woolworths

        • +7

I asked about this and was told “how would you do it without bags?”. Having just come from the UK where Tesco wheeled a stack of crates to your door sorted by Frozen, Ambient, Room temp, which allowed you to quickly and easily unpack them, I explained this process, which was dismissed as silly.

Why be eco-friendly when you can charge customers $2 for a “mandatory” option?

          • @Bingaro: Actually find the bags very handy! … Use them to line one's inside recycling bin … as long as what's thrown into the recycle bin is reasonably clean & dry, I then just carry the Woolworths paper bag (so nice that it has handles), contents and all, and hoick it into the Council recycle bin for collection day.

      • +1

I’d like to know the answer to this as well

Perhaps one could avoid the $2 bag charge if one buys the ‘Woolworths paper bags’ or ‘tote bags’ as well in the same transaction? Or is the bag charge a ‘service charge’?

        • +10

It’s just a “bag charge” that appears at the checkout screen with no option to unselect.

        • +2

A good idea in theory, however staff are picking up to 6 different orders at a time and your perishable stuff is picked separately to your non perishable stuff. Even then, non perishable items can be picked off the shelf by more than 1 staff member depending on how much you buy. So long story short it's just not practical for bags you bought in the transaction to then be used for the shopping.

      • +9

I got a delivery that was just two boxes of nappies today. Still got charged $2 for bags. I just opened a chat to request a refund of the non-delivered paper bags.

        • +1

          Did they refund?

          • @Thrifty Dan: For Coles, if I didn't get any paper bag, they give $1.50 credit upon request.

    • +3

Especially when they go out of their way to overload the bags so they can put $200 worth of shopping in 5 bags!

      • +1

It's only $2 per order, not per bags in the order.

        • +1

Cant' understand why the complaints. Groceries are gathered, delivered all for about $4. Costs more than that for time, effort and vehicle costs to do it oneself

          • @corky: Yeah same. I get big orders (sometimes a few small ones) each month and very rarely have missing items, or substitutions (you can actually select what substitue item you want now too).

    • +1

So you earn 4 points/$ or just 2 points?

      • Following for this answer too

      • Half the time I didn't get my bonus points. Gave up trying to chase

        • So you don’t get 4 points per $1 spent automatically, and you need to chase those points?

    • Can you still get the 10% off from Everyday extras?

I assume you can’t use the mobile 10% off as that is in store only.

      • -1

They brought back the mobile plan discount for online again ages ago

        • +1

All of current text on the Everyday Mobile website specifies "in-store shop". The Everyday Mobile app also specifies "in-store" and does not seem to provide any means of applying the discount to an online shop.

          • @bargainpersona: We use ours monthly with the standard format xMON2024 format (MON - month) They receive a huge backlash when they took it out before and only made it in-store. You can enter the code at final checkout.

      • Keen to know this too thx

      • +1

The insurance 10% is also in store only. I have everyday extra+, mobile and insurance which give 3 x discounts monthly EXCEPT if i shop on-line. Only the extra gives online discount.
Makes it useless to shop pick-up or deliver.

    • $2 is way cheaper than running a car 😁

  • +2

Wonder if this stacks with an existing membership, my one from last years Black Friday hasn’t expired yet

    • Yes, same here.

    • +2

      would also like to know

      • It doesn't, but there's no reason you couldn't sign up a new account - say a partners and then use both cards/memberships for the 10%

  • +12

The bag fee is bullshit. I've been a subscriber for years and before paper bags the plastic bags were cheaper. $2 is hardly worth it especially when half the time for smaller orders you get less than $2 worth of bags.

Only saving grace is the hassle free refunds whenever they stuff up the order or give you poor quality goods. But hey that's the least they can do it they get things wrong.

Tip, buy 340g of salmon fillets and get roughly an extra 100g free

    • -2

Don't they charge based on the actual weight? Coles updated the cost last time when I ordered via Doordash.

      • +2

        Yes Coles weigh them.
I ordered a durian from Coles. Their website showed it was approximately 2 kg, but they delivered a 3 kg one and charged me for the full 3 kg.

      • +4

Nope, Woolworths charge a maximum price up front. They never give you less. Always more else they refund you the difference if it is less

    • +1

It’s annoying when I order 10 items, only 2 are available, and I’m charged a $2 bag fee for just 2 small items.

      • I have my doubts as to how often this occurs for you.

    • +1

Plus those paper bags are so crap. At least the plastic bags could be used for a while.

      • Yes the plastic bags were good bin liners. And if you handed one back to the delivery driver, you got your $1 back! Can't do that now with the paper bags. Gotta get that billion in profits.

  • Thought Milkrun was taking over..

  • My subscription ends at the end of this month. Does that mean that I can also get it for half price? I had a similar experience with Everyday Extra, where I received the second year at half price too.

  • +7

I have a annual sub, but have not used lately. So sick of missing items, wrong items or brain dead substitutions. E.g ordered window cleaning spray, there replacement was a bathroom cleaning product.

    • +1

They threw the bag at my front door, and when I got home, crows had eaten and contaminated all the items inside, including fresh milk, eggs, and some vitamins.

      • +9

        That’s terrible experience, ouch!

The crows must be super jacked in your areas, what with all that vitamins and nutrition, lol

      • You ordered fresh milk and eggs and weren’t home for delivery? Crows saved you I think

      • +1

Did you expect the driver to put the milk in the fridge for you? I mean you weren’t home 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • +18

I once ordered 2 trays of marinated chicken skewers, instead they substituted 2kg of chicken breast and a 100pk of bamboo skewer sticks! Haha.
      One of the funnier substitutes.

      • +2

Maybe they were trying to send you a message.

  • +4

I've been getting weekly orders for a couple of years now and I'm reasonably happy. I order on a Thursday night for Saturday arvo delivery and find that most items are available. Ordering on Friday night has lately meant I can't get the delivery slot I want or I'm stuck with a "Partner Driver" who don't seem to be able to get many items.

You can put notes on items such as "Please give me the Macro Drumsticks if these wings aren't available." and they usually follow it. Availability doesn't seem much worse than going to the physical store but there are some items that are consistently not available.

I'm always home for the delivery and aside from packing my cottage pies on edge so they succumb to gravity they are mostly fairly well packed and carefully delivered and the guys (it's always males) are friendly. Returns (refunds actually) are easy via the website talking to their bot "Olive".

Will definitely see if I can save some fees with this.

  • +3

In my experience the packing is always pretty poor. No one wants toilet cleaner with their food products nor raw meats with fruit and veg.
I think they handball some packing to the delivery driver for the truck rolls as those orders always have dodgy packing.

Partner driver orders are generally ok but they overload the bags so you end up paying $2 for $1 worth of bags.

Mind you I've gone full Karen in my feedback and claimed at least $60 in refunds due to cross contaminated foods

    • I've got seperate fridges for meat and veggies

      • +1

Nice. But it doesn’t help if Woolies mix it before you get it in your fridges

    • +2

And then you wash it and use it anyway, right?

    • +1

It might be like that for your particular delivery store. My orders come with everything separated - pet food, groceries, meat, cleaning, freezer (obviously, because it's in the trucks freezer).

    • I get some orders packed terribly - e.g. leaking raw meats or cleaning products in with fruit and bakery items - and others packed very well or even over-cautiously. I get unattended deliveries and the thing that puzzles me is why the milk in particular is often just left on the ground and not put in a bag when there's plenty of space in some of the bags.

  • +5

The fruit and veg pricing peeves me, instead of $/kg same as in store, they have things as $1.30 for a cucumber, $2.10 for a pear etc.

    • +1

of course dude and the upside is on woolies not yours? muddafudders

  • +2

    $75 dollars minimum nah

    • +7

probably 1 bag from experence bro

      • true that

  • how often do they swap the stuff?

    • +1

From my experience they regularly substitute but it’s not excessive. Eg. 1 or 2 per order.
If you’re not satisfied, you can go online and apply for refund. Generally theyve given me a better quality substitute or higher quantity of a similar item.

    • Probably depends where you are, these days a lot of the deliveries come from a place setup for deliveries, so their stock levels are pretty exact.

Although I've been getting deliveries from woolies for 5 years, old place I got more substitutions but they were pretty accurate. Where I live now I get very few out of stock items but they never substitute anymore, it's just not included (which is a bit annoying).

I had one order once where over half the items were marked out of stock though, that was odd. I complained and they gave me a $20 coupon, so I just reordered it again and it came through fine.

  • Can you use the 10% off from Everyday extra or Everyday Insurance/Mobile when getting a delivery?

    • +2

Yes for everyday extra discount, everyday insurance is only in store. Don’t know about mobile!

      • +2

Mobile is the same, in store only.

Oops, just saw below… Should have refreshed 🤦‍♂️

    • +2

Not from everyday mobile - https://mobile.everyday.com.au/offers/10-off-your-shop

  • Currently subscribed until February. Anyone know if it's possible to get a pro rata refund so I can get this deal?

    • Don’t know the answer - mine also expires Feb and would even be better to cut a loss and restart at 1/2 price…however OnePass cancelling and resubscribing was a botched up mess so I’m wondering if it’s worth the hassle.

  • +1

    $53.50 with Seniors discount.

    • do you have to ring them to get this? I saw it referenced last year, but just ended up subbing for the 50% off

      • +1

No, just came up in my delivery offers.

  • +4

I order online from woolies at least once a week. Happy to pay the full price (sub expires apr 2025) as i justify it as ~$2 per week that saves my 1-2 hours of stuffing around driving up to the shops, parking, shopping, lining up, etc etc etc.

1 in 7 shops there might be one item that is unavailable. Most of the time I get more than what I pay for in my shop. IE: order 1 eggplant, get two. Order 300g of meat, get 400g. etc.

One time they missed half my order, assume the delivery guy dropped it off at someone else's house. Took 2 minutes in the chat for them to give full refund no questions asked. Good service, but a bit annoying also.

Timing is generally on good and arrives within the window. 1 in 10 shops it might be 1-2 hours past the window.

I live 1km from one of the woolies "dark sites", where all they do is pack groceries into the trucks. So my stuff doesn't come from a physical store - i assume this is why its such a reliable service.

Before woolies I used to use coles online delivery, 100% guaranteed to have a substitute with every order that often wasn't appropriate.

  • +1

I order every month. Been super happy. Always tick allow substitutes and always leave notes. Any sub I generally end up with a much more expensive product or macro product etc. Google for that month's 10% off code. I mainly just bulk order all the heavy annoying stuff to avoid a trolley visit. ie. 10 passatas, TP, canned goods.

    • Google for that months 10% off code? Do you mean there is a monthly generic code?

      • Interested to know

      • +2

Yes, the code is always XMON2024 where MON is the first 3 of the month.

I mean it's a generic format for Woolworths Extras. You can't just use it if you're not subscribed.

  • As far as I can see this only for first time subscribers. Will go back when my subscription ends which is fairly soon but I don't think it applies to those who have had a subscription.

    • We had a similar situation with every day extra some days ago, but I got suddenly the second year half price as well. My father-in-law did not get his second-year half-price. He signed up for the subscription on the same day as me.

    • +1

My understanding is it applies to members who have had Delivery Unlimited before, but not currently.

50% off annual plan offer runs from 00:01 (AEDT) 06/11/24 until 23:59 (AEDT) 19/11/24. Offer valid for new and returning subscribers without an active subscription only. T&Cs and exclusions apply.*

The returning customers without an active subscription bit.

  • +3

I have both Woolies and Coles subscriptions and i find both real time saver for family shopping. I prefer coles because they are $50 min and do same day rapid delivery. So you can do frequent shops during the week.

However the substitute process for Coles is bad, the product is not similiar and sub par. I always pick "no substitutes" for coles order. Coles refund process is painful as well.

Woolies substitution and refund process are great .

    • I tried Coles for a while but kept finding myself using the $2 delivery fee windows which didn't make sense of I was paying a subscription. Is that still a thing?

      • I thought about that too unless you buy heaps of liquor and get 10x points.
But $2 delivery is only for 6 hr window on Tue to Thu.

      • I am pretty sure yiu can still get $2 delivery. But for $5/week subscription you can pick any window and more importantly a rapid delivery. So for me its worth it and i do it 1-2 times per week due to the lower $50 limit

        • That's a good point I hadn't considered (two $50 orders) as I currently have a Woolworths subscription so need to hit $75. Is there a bag fee with Coles? It is a hidden fee with Woolworths that makes it $104 more per year than the base subscription ($223 per year vs $228 for Coles). The whole reason I went with Woolies was the cheaper price but if Coles doesn't have a bag fee its a bit of a wash.

Also I can't see anything about rapid delivery online (I can only see rapid click and collect). What does this mean?

  • -1

Had it from last year's half price deal. We used it once as we have a woolies close by (400 m). The biggest issue we had was that the website is so slow that we always felt like we could have just gone and done the shop in the time it takes just to do the order. I'd love it if they had a no frills version or if they would open up their api to allow third party integrations.

I've cancelled and sub finishes on 15th November - will let everyone know if I have access to the offer for re-subscription.

    • There's something weird with Woolies app, whenever you search for a product it takes forever to find it. No issues with the Coles app.
It feels like their back end database server is getting hammered or something, it's really annoying especially when you're in the store trying to find which aisle a product is located in.

      • Does the app say which isle item is in?

        • +2

Yes, as long as you have set it to 'shop in store' and selected the store you're at. That option has been available for ages.

      • +1

t feels like their back end database server is getting hammered or something,

Yeah it shouldn't take as long as it does - it's always about 10 seconds for me, which is way too long for a company that size.
