We have three new releases (descriptions have been written by Chiara, I'm not great at adding such flair!):

  • Signature Milk Tea: Inspired by the iconic taste of classic milk tea, this flavour combines a velvety, creamy base with subtle tea notes from Amino Z's signature blend of premium Assam and black teas.
  • Earl Grey Milk Tea: Developed with a blend of meticulously selected bergamot and a signature combination of rich black teas, this flavour brings creamy, milky notes for a smooth, satisfyingly elegant taste that’s true to the classic Earl Grey.
  • Caramelised Dutch Cookie: Inspired by classic Speculaas cookies, this flavour combines warm, spiced caramel with a creamy, sweet base. It delivers a rich, indulgent taste of caramelised cookies with subtle hints of cinnamon, gingerbread and other spices.

All flavours are naturally sweetened. We have transitioned over to thaumatin for the fact that it is an all natural plant based sweetener, a superior flavour profile, a neutral insulin impact (as it is a protein) and being very gentle on the gut. A bit of trivia, thaumatin is about 10x the cost of artificial counterparts (eg. sucralose) and more than 5x the cost of stevia based on weight! Our focus remains on product quality.

Five of the thirty flavours will attract a higher price point due to additional cost to manufacture and also higher ingredient costs associated with these flavours. They include the three cookie flavours (+$2.48 per 1kg bag for Caramelised Dutch Cookie, Cookies & Cream, Mint Cookie Crunch) and the two new tea flavours (+$4.14 per 1kg bag for Signature Milk Tea, Earl Grey Milk Tea). All other flavours are at the standard price.

Category Description
STRAIGHT Unflavoured and optimised for macronutrients (90% protein). Due to omitting flavours and any sweetener, this is just straight WPI from the manufacturer (less than 1% sunflower lecithin added at the point of manufacture). Use in cookies, smoothies etc. Or if you just want the best macros and don't care for taste!
CORE These flavours have between 75-87% protein. They will also be low in fat (0.3-0.8g/serve) and also low in carbs (1-3.7g/serve). As a general guide, suitable if you have strict dietary restrictions and want to keep the carbs/fat down, but want something more exciting than unflavoured.
INDULGE These flavours will have 64-76% protein with a higher serving size. Notably, carbs and/or fat will be higher than most flavours in the core range, generally contributing an additional 20-30 calories per serve. These flavours will also contain extra ingredients that enhance the flavour profile. This extra latitude with macros and ingredients allows us to elevate the flavour to be what we consider amazing, while not being a complete cheat meal. Given the popularity of Aussie Choc Malt, we're experimenting with a few others in this category and have recently released our three new cookie flavours and our two new milk tea flavours.

Why 3kg this time? (Info on WPI Prices and Supply Constraints)

Previously we have done deals for 4-5kg, but given the current supply and pricing situation, we could just not make it feasible this time around. Given that we absolutely wanted to proceed with a Black Friday OzBargain deal, we felt that the best way we could proceed was to reduce the quantity. I'll provide some background.

Many retailers had a price increase this year due to the increased price of whey protein (particularly WPI). Unfortunately prices have continued to increase and supply is extremely limited globally. Currently WPI is practically not available for supply.

After speaking directly with almost 8 international manufacturers of WPI, it seems very unlikely that supply will improve in the next 3-6 months. For this reason (and as I mentioned in my video), we have had to restrict this deal to 3kg to avoid running out of stock. We also want to ensure that we have adequate supply to run this deal without having to end it far too prematurely.

To be completely transparent with everyone, it is extremely likely that we may not be able to run another whey deal in early 2025. While we do typically do a deal every 3-4 months, given the very challenging supply situation, it is quite possible that this may be the last WPI deal for a while.

Commonly Asked - Amino Z WPI / ON 100% Whey / Musashi 100% Whey (The 3 most popular proteins here on OzBargain)

In almost all of our prior WPI deals, I have been asked how our WPI compares to two other very popular products on OzBargain that we sell (Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and Musashi 100% Whey).

One thing I want to emphasise is that we have sold all three products and despite us obviously having a vested interest in our own brand, we firmly stand behind the quality of all three products (hence why we used to stock all of them).

  • What are Z Points? Z Points are the same as store credit. Your account is credited and you can use this as a discount on any future order with us.
  • Can I use Z Points/Credit from a prior deal? 100% Yes. If you received credit last time, feel free to use it as a discount this time.
  • How do I use my Z Points/Credit? To apply existing store credit (Z Points), firstly make sure that you are logged in. Then, go into checkout and after entering your delivery and shipping choice, select "Load Payment Methods". Once loaded, you will see an option entitled "Spend Your Points".     I find the unflavoured to be flavourful as is. Straight up to the point + just perfect and non-fine dusty/ in the air/ chalky when mixing.

    The favoured ones I found to be just too sweet for my liking.

    Grabbing a few more kg’s.

        I just mix it with water and drink.
        Prefer it as is.

        The other varieties I tasted were too sweet for me.

        Perhaps blend it with some berries or banana + a dash of milk?

    Amino Z website getting slammed, understandably. I've got plenty of protein left from my last purchase but I want MOAR.
    I'll be back.

    While I'm waiting, can anyone recommend the least foamy flavours? Most of the flavours are awesome but a couple have been a bit foamy.

    I use a mini blender thing at work and a shaker at home.
    Work one has been better, but I keep different flavours at work so it's possibly not so much the flavour but the device.

      Yeah we are seeing extremely high traffic levels presently, but are in the process of implementing further updates to improve stability. Thanks for your patience and sorry for the experience.

      Can I ask which flavours you've found particularly foamy? From memory the vanilla flavour may be the foamiest of the lot. Generally the ones with the higher fat content will have the least foam associated with them, along with the chocolate flavours (but most should settle within 5-10 seconds of shaking).

        I've got heaps of flavours on the go but offhand I think Pandan & Coconut Gelato & Melon Milk,
        Possibly also indulgent white chocolate, fruity cereal & taro milk but not sure.

        Hard to certain as I'm currently in a choc phase and having mainly choc-banana, brigadeiro, choc malt, and choc cherry. This matches up with your comment about the chocolate ones as these seem less foamy.

        I've got on the site now though at least :)

          Hey man i use a mini frother and portable blender (assuming you use one of the two).

          They work great at making sure that there are no dry clumps however the trade off is that it'll always be foamy than mixing it by hand

      @jediw honestly, we tried to do tea flavours without the tea component and it did not taste good, so that's why we opted to launch these flavours with real tea in them.

      To be transparent, it is very unlikely that we will be launching a tea flavour without caffeine in it in the foreseeable future. These tea flavours took us almost a year to develop as there was considerable R&D involved in getting them right. It certainly may be possible to create a viable version without the caffeine component, but I would expect this to take quite a while given how many hurdles we've had to overcome with these two new releases.

      I'll take note on this and pass this to the team, but I certainly don't want to make any promises here we cannot keep.

    Vouch for the WPI though; love it. Also keen to try the protein water when it's 'sample-able'.

    What is the origin of WPI and flavors? On your website it only says that blended and packed in Australia.

    For example, earl grey tea flavor, are you using Sri Lanka origin extracts?

    It would be great if you can provide more details on the source/origin of WPI.

      The WPI itself is sourced from USA.

      Our flavours are sourced from both Australia and USA. The actual tea itself is from China, but we have added flavouring in there from Australia (for Earl Grey) and USA (for Signature Milk Tea).

    In future might be worth staggering the marketing comms for the deals so the OzBargain post, SMS and email doesn't all go out as the same time, resulting in the website being hammered and slowing to a crawl. Could make the post here first, then send the SMS and emails later in the day or a day or two later?

    Also thought there would be a bit more info about the Protein Water? Don't think it mentioned much in the video. It's like a soft launch? Don't you want to sell lots of this product?:)

    ie. Why would you buy that instead of having normal WPI? What are the differences, etc? It just says Protein Water (Just Released) and that is all the info we get? :P

      @Moo Deng yes agreed. As the website was struggling, I realised we had already send out both email and SMS all at once…not very good planning on my behalf.

      With the Protein Water, we have done a bit of a soft launch on this as we have very limited product and it is at a higher price point (due to much higher ingredient costs). It will be 30% off using this code.

      The key difference is the flavour profile. It's more a cordial style beverage which you mix in with water (think comparable to BCAA or EAA products). Whereas standard WPI is more milky in comparison. Sorry for the lack of info previously but I hope this clarifies.

      @Wrongguy we stopped selling a WPC earlier this year due to the popularity of our WPI product. We have no plans to bring back the WPC in the near future (plans may change, but just to be transparent).

      @jingy if you open it up and don't like it you may as well keep it. We do cop quite a loss on these, but it's also pointless sending back an opened product that we cannot use anyway. I do feel it's our responsibility to onboard that risk as we're selling the product.

      We do however have samples here in most of our flavours.

      Sorry you didn't like it @universe but if you ever don't really like something please feel free to reach out for a replacement flavour as part of our 110% Guarantee.

      Choc Cherry is a stronger flavour (the cherry is stronger), as is the mint choc chip (the mint is a strong flavour note). Fruity Cereal also is relatively strong in flavour.

      On the weaker side would be vanilla, melon milk, creme caramel, pandan and white chocolate. These are more neutral flavours.

        I use a range of things depending on what I want, if I want lower calories or something more of a treat.

        One of my favourite with Amino Z is using their Coconut Ice Cream WPI and mixing it with coconut water+unsweetened coconut milk and a small bit of xantham gum. For low calorie/high protein though I usually just stick to either light milk or unsweetened almond milk, protein powder and xantham gum. Their taro flavour is another personal highlight.

    Which of the milk teas have a stronger tea taste?

      @cktftw I'd say they are similar, it's just different types of teas. The Earl Grey is a typical earl grey flavour, whereas the milk tea is a blend of Assam and black teas.

      The Pandan flavour is still the same, but we are working on rolling out an updated flavour in the coming weeks.
