We have three new releases (descriptions have been written by Chiara, I'm not great at adding such flair!):

  • Signature Milk Tea: Inspired by the iconic taste of classic milk tea, this flavour combines a velvety, creamy base with subtle tea notes from Amino Z's signature blend of premium Assam and black teas.
  • Earl Grey Milk Tea: Developed with a blend of meticulously selected bergamot and a signature combination of rich black teas, this flavour brings creamy, milky notes for a smooth, satisfyingly elegant taste that’s true to the classic Earl Grey.
  • Caramelised Dutch Cookie: Inspired by classic Speculaas cookies, this flavour combines warm, spiced caramel with a creamy, sweet base. It delivers a rich, indulgent taste of caramelised cookies with subtle hints of cinnamon, gingerbread and other spices.

All flavours are naturally sweetened. We have transitioned over to thaumatin for the fact that it is an all natural plant based sweetener, a superior flavour profile, a neutral insulin impact (as it is a protein) and being very gentle on the gut. A bit of trivia, thaumatin is about 10x the cost of artificial counterparts (eg. sucralose) and more than 5x the cost of stevia based on weight! Our focus remains on product quality.

Five of the thirty flavours will attract a higher price point due to additional cost to manufacture and also higher ingredient costs associated with these flavours. They include the three cookie flavours (+$2.48 per 1kg bag for Caramelised Dutch Cookie, Cookies & Cream, Mint Cookie Crunch) and the two new tea flavours (+$4.14 per 1kg bag for Signature Milk Tea, Earl Grey Milk Tea). All other flavours are at the standard price.

Category Description
STRAIGHT Unflavoured and optimised for macronutrients (90% protein). Due to omitting flavours and any sweetener, this is just straight WPI from the manufacturer (less than 1% sunflower lecithin added at the point of manufacture). Use in cookies, smoothies etc. Or if you just want the best macros and don't care for taste!
CORE These flavours have between 75-87% protein. They will also be low in fat (0.3-0.8g/serve) and also low in carbs (1-3.7g/serve). As a general guide, suitable if you have strict dietary restrictions and want to keep the carbs/fat down, but want something more exciting than unflavoured.
INDULGE These flavours will have 64-76% protein with a higher serving size. Notably, carbs and/or fat will be higher than most flavours in the core range, generally contributing an additional 20-30 calories per serve. These flavours will also contain extra ingredients that enhance the flavour profile. This extra latitude with macros and ingredients allows us to elevate the flavour to be what we consider amazing, while not being a complete cheat meal. Given the popularity of Aussie Choc Malt, we're experimenting with a few others in this category and have recently released our three new cookie flavours and our two new milk tea flavours.

Why 3kg this time? (Info on WPI Prices and Supply Constraints)

Previously we have done deals for 4-5kg, but given the current supply and pricing situation, we could just not make it feasible this time around. Given that we absolutely wanted to proceed with a Black Friday OzBargain deal, we felt that the best way we could proceed was to reduce the quantity. I'll provide some background.

Many retailers had a price increase this year due to the increased price of whey protein (particularly WPI). Unfortunately prices have continued to increase and supply is extremely limited globally. Currently WPI is practically not available for supply.

After speaking directly with almost 8 international manufacturers of WPI, it seems very unlikely that supply will improve in the next 3-6 months. For this reason (and as I mentioned in my video), we have had to restrict this deal to 3kg to avoid running out of stock. We also want to ensure that we have adequate supply to run this deal without having to end it far too prematurely.

To be completely transparent with everyone, it is extremely likely that we may not be able to run another whey deal in early 2025. While we do typically do a deal every 3-4 months, given the very challenging supply situation, it is quite possible that this may be the last WPI deal for a while.

Commonly Asked - Amino Z WPI / ON 100% Whey / Musashi 100% Whey (The 3 most popular proteins here on OzBargain)

In almost all of our prior WPI deals, I have been asked how our WPI compares to two other very popular products on OzBargain that we sell (Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and Musashi 100% Whey).

One thing I want to emphasise is that we have sold all three products and despite us obviously having a vested interest in our own brand, we firmly stand behind the quality of all three products (hence why we used to stock all of them).

  • What are Z Points? Z Points are the same as store credit. Your account is credited and you can use this as a discount on any future order with us.
  • Can I use Z Points/Credit from a prior deal? 100% Yes. If you received credit last time, feel free to use it as a discount this time.
  • How do I use my Z Points/Credit? To apply existing store credit (Z Points), firstly make sure that you are logged in. Then, go into checkout and after entering your delivery and shipping choice, select "Load Payment Methods". Once loaded, you will see an option entitled "Spend Your Points".       We haven't changed the formula in our pre-workouts and the beta alanine is continuing to be sourced from our same approved supplier. You can build up a degree of sensitivity to it though, so that may also contribute.

      @Levathian I'd take a look at the best before dates first. If within date, do a visual and smell inspection (look for any clumping from moisture, and ensure it smells fine). If it looks fine and smells fine, do a taste test. The taste will be the most obvious factor as the flavour. If in doubt, do not consume.

      If you ordered a prior batch where the seals were of poor quality and the product is not okay, feel free to send over a direct message and Vanessa will be more than happy to look after you. Apologies if this is the case, we did have some poor quality seals in the past.

    Such as myprotein's clear whey. Just sometimes get sick of the usual very sweet dessert/milkshakey flavours.

      @tetra we did just release our Protein Water, but I must note that this one isn't non-dairy.

      Ultimately for a non-dairy protein water, I guess we'd be looking at a straight collagen product. Currently we have nothing planned around this and our only non-dairy protein would be our Vegan Protein - but this is not a clear protein.

      For pancakes, I do know that vanilla is particularly popular since it's a relatively neutral flavour. The new Caramelised Dutch Cookie is also pretty versatile and will have cinnamon notes which can work well in a pancake.

    I'm about to order. Is there a flavour option that does not contain sweeteners?

    They all specify "Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding." which I assume it due to sweeteners. My wife is pregnant so we're looking for a WPI product without additives.

      The warning that we have around pregnancy and breastfeeding is across all supplements that we carry and we have this as standard advice. I would advise to speak with a professional in relation to consuming our product before purchasing to be safe.

    Off topic but I’ve loved 99% of all the flavours I’ve tried (maybe 10-12 of them). The cookies and cream makes me extra gassy for some reason. Any idea what ingredient may cause this? Haha

      We do have cookies in this flavour, which does contain gluten, so this could be a contributing factor? But I'd suggest checking on the ingredient list. All of our cookie and tea flavours contain additional ingredients in there to enhance the flavour, so they aren't technically as clean as our "Core" range (as shown above in the table).

      I hope this provides some insight here.

    my flavor tier list:

    SSS+++ X anniversary director's arcade prepare for gains edition: iced coffee
    pros: tastes absolutely amazing (especially mixed with milk or milk substitutes), great macros, even without shaker ball mixes very easily.
    cons: gets very frothy when mixing with water, quite high in caffeine so some might not want to use it later in the day.

    matcha ice cream
    pros: mixes well, tastes exactly as described, good macros.
    cons: quite frothy when mixed with water.
    white choc
    pros: mixes well, tastes good even mixed with plain water, good macros
    cons: frothy, not much flavor improvement when mixed with milk / substitutes

    choc cherry
    pros: low froth even with water.
    cons: taste kinda meh with water but amazing with milk / substitutes.

    B

    unflavored
    pros: unrivaled macros, versatile for those with culinary curiosity

        as Jay says, it's definitely one of the sweeter ones, going to depend on where "sickly sweet" begins for you.

        if you've ever had baklava that's also had sweet syrup on top of it and didn't find that horrifyingly sweet, white choc is below that.
        let's say sweet baklava + thick syrup is 2 full layers of sweetness, I'd describe white choc as between 1.3 and 1.7 on sweetness.

    Dammit, just ordered yesterday :/ - Feedback - the Zip on the new bags ALWAYS come off and having to fold the bag on itself to seal it - just some feedback.

    For those that want to know about shipping times (and whats best about AZ is they ALWAYS ship next morning to the clock - keep it going - its great that you guys focus on getting the order out as quickly as possible - one of the reasons i keep coming back!

    Compiling my flavour notes from past orders
    -Banana. Tastes great, but the texture is a bit off, it doesn't mix super well, and I found it sort of gummed up my shaker.
    -"Smooth milk chocolate". Flavour is OK, but again it feels like it doesn't mix as well - I often had residue in the bottom.-
    -"Chocolate" (regular): my favourite so far. Great taste, mixes really smoothly.
    -Choc mint: it is SO TASTY, like drinking a chocolate choc mint slice. However, it isn't great at dissolving
    -coconut cream: not such a fan. Taste is pretty good but it seems to have lots of surface tension and is bad at dissolving - sometimes I end up with a large mouthful of dry powder.
    -"Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream": delicious, no notes.

    This order I'm going to try Choc Cherry, Indulgent White Chocolate, and my old favourite Matcha.

      Generally we wouldn't recommend consuming beyond the best before date as it will impact the flavour profile most notably. There is risk of spoilage of the product also.

      We are continuing to work on mixability as some flavours will mix better than others. We do recommend using a shaker bottle for all flavours (rather than stirring).

      In terms of the flavours, our most popular are Chocolate, Vanilla, Aussie Choc Malt, Iced Coffee and now Cookies & Cream. We have also just released the Caramelised Dutch Cookie and our two new milk tea flavours if you're looking to try something more unique to Australia.

        Thanks Jay,

        I used a shaker bottle but find that with the chocolate and malt it forms little clumps on the side and under the lip of the bottle even when you vigorously shake it so makes it difficult to clean because you kind of have to get into the lump with your fingernails sometimes to clean it. Like a normal sponge/dishwashing handle with a sponge isn't abrasive enough to lift it. I really like the taste though of the choc malt.
