        It gets 7.8, not a "half-assed WP8 update" ;). Being a Nokia it gets more features in the update than standard Windows Phones do.

        You mean no Next-G? Looks that way, unfortunately:

        Network Support 2G 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, 3G/HSDPA 900 / 2100

        There is a Next-G variant but it's not this one.

    Are cheap toner refills available for the LASER printer (esp. Colour). Need a chip reset?

    $499 for Toner for a $99 Printer is a bit much

        But it's one set of 4, CMYK, with a yield of 2000 pages, making each page 25c. No thanks.

        Edit: Toner refills can be found by searching eBay, but such costs are the reason I don't find colour printers compelling enough to own one. Not when I can print coupons in B+W on my old workhorse and no merchant's ever objected. :)

          i9000 most likely has 2.1 upgradeable to 2.3.6. I'm not sure of an official ICS rom.

          Unofficially, XDA has this phone well-supported into Jelly Bean.

      Galaxy S I9000 is one of those unlucky Android devices that failed to get any official support for Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) or Jelly Bean updates from Samsung. As a result, these devices would have been long forgotten, if not for the industrious efforts of the Android developers' community, who kept these smartphones alive with regular feature updates and bug fixes.

        Thanks for the info, compared to some of the current entry level Galaxy series phones like the Ace it has much better specs and it has an Australian Samsung warranty.

        So at $199 seems to be a much better buy, especially if it can be factory upgraded to Gingerbread.
