  • Good price!

Maybe important for some: delivery 16-22 Jan.

    • +2

Possibly an overestimation to cover themselves.

    • +1

      Very important. Thanks

  • so which apple pencil should i buy? i see there are 4 types now

    • +2

This iPad is only compatible with the Gen 1, and the USB-C pencils. Definitely the USB-C pencil as Gen 1 is bad and requires a weird dongle adapter to charge.

      • thank you.

        • +1

It's worth noting that the Gen 1 version supports pressure sensitivity while the USB-C version doesn't. That might be important for some use cases. If you don't care about pressure sensitivity and don't mind lightning connectors there's also the Logitech Crayon at ~$60. I'm not sure why loksmack thinks the Gen 1 is "bad". The only knocks on it I've seen are the lightning connector and lack of magnetic attachment.

          • +2

@atj: so apple just f**ked up the pencil

            • @hopper: I mean, if you buy the only art pencil that works with this ipad, you have no way to charge it. Yeah I'd count that as f***ing it up

        • If you are only using it for writing, you can buy cheap knockoff like $15 to $25

      • Lol. As per @atj

  • great deal, ugly colour that you can cover up with case.

    • +7

Everyone knows yellow is the best colour

      • +3

        Yellow's a happenin' color, if you're a banana….

    • Or a skin!

  • +1

This is really outdated now compared to rest of lineup. Hopefully they will bump it up next year at same price point.
Want to upgrade my daughter's galaxy a8. Will probably go apple but even at this price it still doesn't feel worth it. Its like a 7 generations old chipset with basic screen

    • We are only at A18 for chipset. So, this chipset will have support for another 3 years+. The only thing is it won't support Apple Intelligence as it only has 4GB of RAM.

If it is for Primary School kids, it is definitely FINE :)

      • I was counting the m series as well but acknowledge that was a bit silly of me lol.

    • +1

Depends what you/she are using it for. For typical tablet activities, like social media, shopping, email, video chat, etc., it’s fine, both performance and storage size. If you want a video storage and editing device, spend a lot more.

      • Oh it's definitely going to be ok. It just feels it will be outdated really quickly and hence feel that next year they might jump a few generations and will be supported a substantial amount longer.
I'm basing this of the newly released iPad mini being on the a17 while this being on the a14. I suspect they will release a a17 iPad next year for similar pricing. It would just feel a lot better I think

Delivery time takes about 7 weeks. Ouch! Even wanting this for Christmas is not possible.

  • +2

Really good deal but cant stand the colour so no deal for me

    • +2

      put a case on

  • -7

Has this generation moved away from resistive screen or is it capacitive now?

    • +7

Even the 1st generation iPad had a capacitive screen. It's been capacitive all the way.

    • Apple has never made an iPad with a resistive screen, not even the first iPhone that only came out in America had a resistive screen.

      What are you talking about?

  • Good price! However the new iPad will be released early next year. Also the iPad 10 has the A14 Bionic, which is around 4 years old chip. It is the same chip that iPhone 12 has. Will hold back.

    • +6

Would definitely not hold back on account of the chip, its plenty fast with most apps optimised for even older chips.

Its fantastic value for most people.

    • +5

However the new iPad will be released early next year.

Along with a massive price hike…

  • Code still works for others?

    • +1

To apply this code, you need to be an eBay Plus member.

You need to have eBay Plus. Flexible plan for $5/month.

  • Does this stack up ok with top cashback 's 3%?

Or using this code will void 3%

    • Of course using code is better then 3% back , but just asking

  • lols bought the Ipad 9 for $397 a couple of weeks back. :)

    • Well, you got a home button with lightning. So you can still use your old cables 😉

  • Thanks
Kid wanted Yellow so I was hesitating with Amazon's $486
    Happy day!

    • Does kid mind getting it potentially late Jan? (just in case you're thinking Xmas present)

  • Expired, hesitated too long.

  • Looks like the code has expired

  • Might have scored the last one (or second last…)

    Estimated delivery:
    Thu, 16 Jan - Wed, 22 Jan

  • +2

Ah, I wonder, maybe these guys managed to grab all the yellows for $370 from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/869612

  • Missed out.😔

  • This is the yellow one from JB Hifi commercial that they could not sell

  • Got one recently from work. I personally have iPad 10.5 pro, 11 inch m1 and Mini5.
The 10th gen has been the worst experience of all.
The screen is poor as it is not well lit evenly all the way around, the colours are washed out and appears to have a gap right in the centre so much so that when writing with the pencil, the screen flexes with a slight pressure. The processor is okay, like all iPads (except for the lightning fast M processors) and appears to be slightly slow, possibly due to 60hz screen and only 4gb ram.
My favourite is still my 10.5 pro with bezels to hold the damn thing when using as a productivity tool.

  • will ipad 11 have 8gb ram to support AI? then its better to wait i guess
