      • Thanks

      • does it show GST?

  • Im having issues,

    I joined 2,

First the payout is $549 and no monthly charge yet until a couple days and the 2nd is $526 and they took $79 immediately and is cleared not pending.

Two chat sessions refused to just charge $526 for both and refund the $79.

Should I just accept the charges and try to have a separate chat session request to refund the $79, or this is a bad idea and should try more times to negotiate the all at once?

    • Logically the reduced fee of $526 is because you've paid the $79. So because you hadn't paid for one of them, that cancellation fee is $549 according to the contract.

Cut your losses, $549 for S25 512gb is amazing deal.

      • Yes im thinking to accept it, do u think I can contest the $79 at a later stage with another operator or its like only one opportunity?

        • Have you already cancelled the 1st plan? If you have then they're not gonna charge you $79 at all.

You can also treat them separately if you want and just ask them to do the 2nd number - refund the $79 and you'll pay the cancellation fee of $526.

          • @CodeXD: I havent cancelled anything yet

        • I signed up to the $99 plan to get the S25+. The initial $99 payment took a couple of days to come out of my account, then took another couple of days to clear on Telstras end.
If Telstra won't refund you the $79, ask them if they will credit your Telstra account instead. That's what I did and they were happy to assist with that.
You can then use the credit towards the cancellation fee.

          • @zekeyoung99: I think issue is they bought sign up 2 numbers and one of them has been charged $79 while the other one has not.

Number 1. Payout $549 as there is no monthly charge, so paying the full cancellation fee.
Number 2. Charged $79 for the first month, so cancellation fee is reduced down to $526.

@jes wants to pay $526 per phone, rather than the $549 and $526 respectively.

So it might be best to always cancel the plan AFTER you've already been charged for the first month. Since there is a good chance you can get that refunded or credited to your account. So you ultimately only need to pay ~95.8% (23 divide by 24) of the full cancellation fee lol

            • @CodeXD: Sure the $526 charge and no monthly fee would be ideal for both.
But im happy for $550 for both and no monthly fee as well.

Trying another chat attempt now. But good point about asking if the $79 fee can be credited instead if they wont refund.

It's so confusing why the two charges are different.

        • No luck in my case, im not sure why the others here got the $79 waived, any other tips? My $79 is already cleared not pending.

  • Hi really need your expertise on this deal…i ported using my own number which i dont want to lose…what are the next steps i need to do to cancel the deal without losing number? I have a boost plan can i just port into this?

    • +2

If you port out it will cancel the telstra plan so a good start. Make sure you do not contact telstra chat to cancel because you will not be able to receive SMS/calls anymore.

I'm not sure if you can port Telstra -> boost by normal means. I suggest you contact boost chat and see what they say.

      • I can buy a $2 sim and not use boost? But how would the cancellation fee be settled? Would it be automatic? Has anyone done this?

        • +1

You'll get an email saying you have a bill to pay in your telstra account.

  • I'm with Telstra and the guy at the store via phone said I'd have to be out of the network for 31 days to be eligible. Is this accurate? Deal ends tomorrow and not sure if they actually check this or not.

    • Yes it's true so buy and activate an Aldi $5 Sim in advance and port new phone to it. Hassle free.

      • Deal ends tomorrow though. However, I read in the ultra post that apparently they don't actually care.

        • Report back and let us know how you go.

  • Are there people who haven't picked up their phone yet? I bought one for the missus yesterday, but they only had ultra model in stock so couldn't pick it up on the spot.

  • I am going to JB store tomorrow to get this deal. I am assuming we have to do it in store. I have got a recently expired amaysim number which I will use for getting this deal. Do i need to recharge with Amaysim for port in to go through? I have checked I am still receiving sms on the number

    • +1

Yes as number needs to be active to transfer.

      • Fair enough. Number is kinda active as it can receive calls and sms but i cant call or sms anyone. Anyway amaysim sent me a $7.5 a month offer to rejoin so might as well take that up and then do the port in

        • Sorry should have noted, Active = You can make calls i.e. has credit.

        • No, you only need to be able to receive SMS to port, does not need to have credit.

I previously ported my boost sim card over to amaysim when the plan had expired but not disconnected.

    • +2

Do i need to recharge with Amaysim for port in to go through?

No. Your Amaysim plan may have expired, but your service (number) remains active.

If you look at your expired plan in your account, on the right side it will show you the expiry date for the service. Your service won't be disconnected until 90 days after that date.

Basically each recharge/plan payment resets the service expiry to 365 days + 90 days passive period. (service disconnection at 455 days after your last payment)

      • I have to disagree based on personal experience only. I have many active (expired plan) numbers. I could them port out due to being expired plan. Have tested with Boost and Amaysim over last year. Has something changed recently?

        • +2

I could them port out due to being expired plan.

          Do you mean couldn't?

          • @CodeXD: Opps, Ah ha…..yes, couldn't. :-)

            • +1

@Borg: Can update it worked for my expired Amaysim plan. May be the trick is to change the plan in Amaysim to $0 per month As you go plan before doing the port in.

              • +1

@FiDad: Wow, I didnt see that "change plan to $0 option"…..until now. Nice find and thanks for pointing this out.

  • -2

Anyone know if the early termination fee is tax deductible?
Would help me decide if I should buy this or not.

    • You should talk to your tax agent, maybe different tax treatments compared to another person

  • Regarding the potential impact on credit rating when purchasing and cancelling, is it just possible to use a debit card instead?

    • Impact on credit rating isn't because you used credit card to pay for it… you'll get it regardless, even if you paid in cash lol

  • Can I port my number using any Vodafone prepaid SIM activated from Coles?

Also, is Telstra live chat available late at night?

  • Thanks OP. Signed up and cancelled straight way.
$526 ETC. Waiting for $79 to be charged then to be refunded.

Unfortunately I totally forgot about the JB Hifi $200 pre order coupon that I signed up for last month.

    • You did it online or just earlier in the day?

      • In store earlier in the day.

  • Does this not work for the 25+ models just at a higher cancelation price as it says $0 upfront for it too?

  • Hey guys, whoever has got their 79$ refund back after talking to telstra live chat, what excuse did you gave to cancel the contract? Will be doing to for first time and want it to be a sure shot ,if lucky enough!
    Please share your ideas. Thanks

  • +4

Can someone give more info about the $200 gift card please? Is it too late to try and get this offer too?

    • I need as well. I checked with support and they told me, I should have registered for that

    • How does the 200 vouches work if this is already free basically?
      Accessories?

  • Hello,

Sorry, alot of comment to process, but why hasn't anyone done this with the $99 plan to get $1100 back?

  • Perhaps a dumb question, but is this kinda deal available for any new Galaxy model? Ie does this happen every year?

Looks like the s26 might be a more substantial upgrade, but also wouldn't want to miss such an awesome deal!

  • Do you cancel via JB or Telstra?

    • Telstra. Either live chat or call them

  • +1

Just signed up but haven't gotten the phones yet. Is it still okay to cancel today? Are the phone order and phone plan independent?

    • +2

Yes Independent. I signed up today and cancelled the service already but will have to wait till next week for phones to be ready for pick up from store.

  • Im not understanding where everyone is finding this ~$520+$79 ETC from? is this an amount on the contract when going into the store?

All I can see is the CIS on the JB website stating you will need to pay back the voucher pro rata which would be the complete cost of the phone.

    • Read the actual terms and conditions

      • Yes my mistake I was clicking the terms at the bottom of the $79 upfront plan and not the terms on the $0 Samsung offer. Thank you

  • Thanks OP and commenters!

  • Is the phone available at JB or do I need to wait for the preorder to be fullfiled?

    • None when I went there today, they will ship it tomorrow apparently.

  • -1

Anyone received order confirmation saying pick up in late February? Hope that's not the case as I want to sell my wife's phone ASAP..

    • Yes i got same ETA but I only ordered today.

      • -1

I just picked up after getting the notification. Did you get yours?

  • @CodeXD
Thanks for all your active contributions in the chat.
Being a last minute joe for my mama, I thought I could get her this instead of her A30 which is almost dead.
I have a $200 JBHIFI $200 pre-order coupon. I don't know if I can use that to get this deal but at JBHIFI instead?

    So is this right?
    1. Activate $5 aldi sim or optus esim & a get a number
    2. Go in store to either TGG or JBHIFI
    3. Sign up to the $79 plan with $0 upfront for the S25 512GB
    4. Go home and jump on telstra chat and cancel.
    5. Wait for phone to be delivered

Is this right? How does the $200 code fit in?

    • Go to JB and when they process the transaction for the phone, tell them you have the $200 code and they will process it then at the checkout.

      • Thanks @Warmachine99
But the cost is $0 for the phone anyways, so how will they apply it?

        • +3

@Warmachine99 is correct. You apply the $200 pre-order voucher first. When you sign up for the plan, the staff will also give you a $1387 gift card which can only be used for this phone. So you scan the $200 and it will reduce how much is left to pay down to $1187. The checkout person will then pay the remainder with $1387 gift card. You will get that $200 in JB gift card back for whatever you want to buy at JB :)

For step 5. depending on the in store stock, you might get it on the spot as well. When I ordered the S25 they said the colour I wanted was not available and they said it will be delivered for free, not sure if that is the same for everyone. S25 Ultra they said there is no free delivery and will let me know when to pick up.

          • @CodeXD: Thanks for confirming.

          • @CodeXD: In store now. The guy says he wants proof of purchase or an invoice showing that the esim belongs to me. But I can't, cos it's for mum under her details!

            • @Lord Ra: If you did this, then the esim is under your name

              1. Activate $5 aldi sim or optus esim & a get a number

The phone is for your mum, but the number you port is under your own name. You don't even need to mention the phone is a gift.

              • @CodeXD: Nah, under mums name. I'll go to aldi, get a $5 under my name and then try again.

                • @Lord Ra: Deal ends today FYI

                  • +2

@CodeXD: Got it mate,t hank you!
Got an aldi sim for myself and did it all under my name. Easier, I suppose. Especailly with the codes and online chat.
                    I got home at 21.15hrs.

Online chat said it was pending and couldn't do it for me and to try again tomorrow.

Oh well. I was wondering if I could have got the s25+ for the same $$ now. But don't want to be greedy.
Thank you for your help @CodeXD and @Warmachine99

                    • +1

@Lord Ra: Glad to hear it all turned out well!

                      S25+ would have costed more

                    • +1

@Lord Ra: The S25+ was the $99 plan with $800 cxl fee vr S25 being the $79 plan @ $550 fee so $275 +/- more when all said and done.

                      • @Borg: Fair, no FOMO now, I can sleep well knowing that I had a good deal. I'm not out of the woods yet, I have to cancel tomorrow. So let's see how I go.
                        Thanks again everyone.

          • @CodeXD: Question: isn’t the $200 voucher code only valid within 72 hrs of pre-order period, then turns to $100 instead. Wondering how you are still able to apply that after the first 3 days.

            • @bilibili2025: You mixed up samsung.com and JB Hi-Fi

              • @andylch: Oh…does that mean the only way to get $200 voucher for this deal is to pre-register through JB Hi-Fi between 23/01 - 13/02?

  • Is there a difference between this and TGG deal? Guessing JB is more convenient for most people as both are Telstra re-sellers

    • JB owns TGG so its the same deal

  • Telstra chat wouldn't procecss refund. what can I do? lol

    • same for me, ive seen that ppl would just start another chat with another assistant and they would agree, i will try tomorrow and ask again for a refund

      • try via the chat in the my telstra app

        • do u find it better chance than the jbhifi mobile ones?

          • @jes: I didn't try JB as I got lucky with a Telstra rep on my first try. From what I've read, apparently people have better luck with the Telstra app reps, but I think ultimately it just comes down to who you get.

      • update: worked just fine with another telstra Rep

    • I just tried doing that yesterday but no luck! Did you get the phone? If you cancel the contract, can you still see the phone in your JB HiFi account?

      • +2

Cancelled the plan cant track the phone also. According to others here, its separate. Fingers crossed… will try chat again but they seemed adamant on not refunding 79. Even so, 600 bucks is still decent deal

  • Just my luck, went to the store and signed up sucessfully but got given the 256GB phone. Didnt realise until I pulled the tab on the box. Store is closed now. Anyone know if cancelling on Sunday would up my cancellation fee?

    • Promo is for 512GB so their mistake. Just call them and have exchanged. What does invoice say (as matter of interest)?
Cancellation fee: Not sure what you are asking as it doesn't matter when one cancels?

      • Invoice says 512GB. I got Telstra to note the $526.93 fee for when I cancel once I swap the phone. Hope they dont accuse me of swapping!

        • +1

You are fine. The plan is seperate to phone so doesn’t matter.

  • If I cancelled my plan/account already is it too late to ask for a refund on the first month that they charged?

    • No, still give it a go. There's a good chance they will still refund you.

  • Hey guys! I need your feedback on this! So I did everything as above mentioned in the comments.
    1. Went to JBHiFi
    2. Signed the contract
    3. zero payment upfront for Samsung Galaxy s25 512GB
    4. They issued me a new sim
    5. Came back home.. Later at night cancelled the Telstra contract using the chat service.
    6. The issued me an invoice of $526.93.. no refund on the $79..
But this invoice appears that I have to pay this amount to JBHiFi. The question is, will I still be getting the phone? I know you guys have already got it.. But has this happened to all of you? out of the blue you'll get a text from JB HiFi to collect the phone?

    • +1

It's fine, I did that several days before phone was ready to collect. You can pay Telstra direct if you want, just call them or do nothing and it will auto charge the fee on the date noted on the invoice. Regardless, the plan payout has no relationship to the phone. You will receive notification from JB once ready to collect.

      • Thanks mate! Will do so!

        • How did you order today?
I thought the s25 for free offer ended yesterday.

          • +3

@Tankum8: They didn't. See their point No5…..which indicates was previous to today. :-)
