Centrecom Boxing Day Sale, SanDisk 240GB SSD = $159 + Postage, Other Deals Too

115

Notably:

  • SanDisk Extreme 240GB SSD $159
  • Acer 23" monitor $99
  • Logitech Ultimate Ears 350 $5
  • Logitech Harmony 200 Remote $9

Edit: Postage is pretty average. I ordered SSD + remote + earphones and shipping was $17 to regional Victoria. To other states the postage jacks up very quickly eg $50 to WA . For that reason, most deals are only practical for Victorians (sorry rest of the world).

$49.50 to ship an SSD to Perth. Sort of kills the deal

Shipping is kinda too expensive. those $5 earphones cost
    $22 Shipping to Queensland!

  • same $22 for NSW

It costs $22 to post $5 logitech earphones? WTF? Neg for this.

you can always buy instore mate, no need to neg for something like that, plenty of good deal to be had

Not really the point if one can pick up in store or not. The point is a pre paid satchel for this 100gram item should cost no more than $8 or $9, however a small padded bag + Post + mark up for labour should be about $6. So, $22 to post From Vic to QLD is ridiculous. OzBargain is Aus wide and with only one city presence for Centrecom, the majority of us will be looking for postage.

well i guess centrecom is all about the local

I'm sorry, how many city presences?

edit: scrap that, some of the price are after cash back.

    Postage is Excessive SCAM

  • SSD prices are great, but $22 to ship to NSW … :-(

  • Yeah, I know postage is pretty bad if you only buy one item, but if you buy multiple….

    For example:
    - Acer 23" monitor $99 (normally $129)
    - Sandisk 240GB SSD $159 (normally $179)

These two items together are normally $308 (plus postage). In this deal $258, and assuming it's worst case postage (West Aus) then it's +50$ postage, which breaks even with the normal cost except postage is included.

In this example you are already saving the cost of postage if you were to buy it elsewhere, and you might save even more if you lived closer to Vic.

postage is not that bad, most laptop are free shipping

  • Can anyone comment on the 'Acer Aspire M3-581TG' Looks real good for the price?

Shame the RAM is 4GB and shame it's not a 750GB HDD but it does have a 20GB SSD so…for the price and a budget laptop, any other deals I should consider first tomorrow?

I remember ACER being known for bad quality a few years back, but I hear they are MUCH better now?

    • Does sound good, i7, 8hour battery life, dedicated GT640m graphics. Just one question, is the SSD; mSATA, fixed to the mainboard or just part of a hybrid drive?

SanDisk Cruzer Edge 16GB USB listed for $16 on Centrecom… In QLD can get for $9.95 (Computer Alliance).

This company cannot be trusted to dispatch your order, they may sell it to "walk in" customers and try to restock without telling you, then they may lead you on for weeks before cancelling your order altogether - happened to many ozbargainers.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87344

BEWARE:: DO NOT ORDER ONLINE!!, Pick up in store only or just go somewhere else…

Checkout Umart in Mt Waverley, MSY, PCCG Or Scorptech much more consistent

P.S it's not just shipping that is a SCAM what about crazy one off credit card verification process with surcharge or the other normal payment option PayPal which they also stick a 2% surcharge on top!!

    Toshiba 1TB Canvio Basic 1RV USB 3.0 - $69

Not really sure how these stack up against the Seagate ones that have been on special lately.

  • yes unfortunately the postage costs for this site are always way too high like $40 plus to my area for things that can fit in flat rate parcels much cheaper. makes things a non deal and usaully cheaper anywhere else.

even for little usb sticks postage works out to be way more to my area $50 for one stick!! flat rate satchels are like $6.60 to anywhere in Australia.

  • Acer 23" sold out.

Check out customer reviews for centrecom here: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/centre-com.html

Summery = 59% (52 people) rated centrecom "TERRIBLE" and looking at recent comments a lot but not all relates to online orders with very similar experiances to mine - makes me feel very justified in my consumer affairs complaint - this company stuff people around and causes a lot of undue heartache - I still cry at night about my 7970 BEDD that never arrived despite numorous calls(good luck - emails only to online sales) and emails I my part, recieving empty promises from CC

So you'v got to ask yourself one question, do I fell lucky… Well do you punk?!

  • I walked in the shop and bought the 7970 Ghz edition for $399!…was umming and ahhhing about a new video card for ages and this deal tipped me over the edge.

I'm voting a positive, great price for this factory overclocked card…if you live in victoria that is…online service sounds terrible, I understand the negs.

But some great deals if you can get to a store with stock of what you want.

  • hmmm. i'm trying to add 2x sandisk 240gb ssd to the cart, but it's not updating. anybody else have this problem?

    • Yeah, I had the same issue (diff product). Seems only 1 of each item. Poor show Centrecom :(

      • 1x 240gb sandisk and 1x 256gb samsung ($170 + $200 inc del) isn't to bad. beats driving to the store.

  • This is Ozbargain, not Melbargain. Those shipping rates and surcharge fees are practically extortion.

    • This is Ozbargain, not Melbargain

So by that logic, I can neg any deal that isn't available in my area?

      • Or any deal that doesn't have a brainless scarecrow, heartless tin man or a cowardly lion?
