Seen that Centrecom is selling the XFX 7970 Black Edition Dual Dissipation Version for cheap price… cheaper than the 7950 BEDD or 7970 DD / 7970 BE

EDIT: bring your jumping shoes and tissues- Online ordering with centrecom is a very disappointing experience x2 !!!!
Lack of email updates mean status changes without your knowledge, at one stage they wanted my license before confirming Paypal payment, ATM it says awaiting stock ***do not dispatch - awaiting email from customer - WTF??? first i heard of an email requested from me. to make it worse cannot contact anybody by phone must email and there email responses are few and far between. Delay Delay Delay.., So it looks like I order mine 2 days before everyone else and it hasn't moved from there warehouse - even worse they might have sold the 17 they confirmed they had and now waiting for more supplies before fulfilling my order. Horrible Experience

    Definitely a bargain. However, unless things have changed, the lifetime warranty on xfx cards usually doesn't cover Australian customers. This is how it used to be a few years ago anyway.

      I'm pretty sure it still covers the high end models though:
      - Cards with Double Dissipation (Double D) or whose product number ends in “R”: Lifetime warranty if registered within 30 days.

      I bought a PSU from them the other day. Shipping was gonna be $25 to QLD so I msg them on facebook and they reduced it to $9. Worth asking imo

          i bought a 670 msi overclocked with a better cooler off amazon
          for about $350 delivered
          can overclock to about gtx680 speeds no problems.

          you wont notice the difference in power
          and nvidia better drivers

    I was heavily vested to go for this then I realised:
    -2% surcharge on common payment methods (paypal/credit)
    -Only located melbourne (no pickup)
    -High shipping (cheaper postage of same item from US)
    -Insurance is extra (1% of total cost, which isn't too bad I guess)
    -Bothersome credit verification methods

    I felt like after checkout I just kept getting slapped with overhead. Not gonna neg or anything, but not worth it to me.

      And to top it off, I went through payment steps of a $1,317 order just to see the final price (which was a lot higher then expected) to which I did not confirm and just logged out, but is now in account history it says order confirmed and awaiting action on their end?

        I personally seen these promo cards last week.. They should come separately and are not included in the box.

        I didn't read the whole card but it only has ONE cd key on the card and it says activate on steam.

          You get a code to enter in the AMD promo site. AMD then emails you 3 separate cd keys + warfighter discount code. Farcry and Warfighter codes are not steam, others are.

    I'm looking for new cards but holding off until the next gens… Currently have 2 x Asus DCII 6970 in crossfire which are non ref and take up too much space in my case and cant be watercooled.

    I see water blocks are available for these..

    Don't think i will gain much off one 7979?

      Have you looked at a universal gpu block? 6970 in cf will perform better, granted crossfire scaling is high on the game.

    Got one. First OZBargain deal I am going for. Was looking at a 7970 for a while now and at this price for a non-cheapo brand, I think this is a reasonable to good price. With the games bundled, this is a bargain.

    Picked up in-store and there were others going for the same thing. Also, called before I went in and the phone operator was baffled as to why so many callers for that product. I guess this won't last too long.

    I would just like to point out to other people that these are not the Ghz edition ones. Yes these run at 1000Ghz similar to the Ghz because these have been factory o/ced. What does mean? Not much really, but it is most likely that they will run slightly hotter and not o/c as much as the true Ghz ones will. Just saying in case people have been mislead.

      1ghz edition just comes pre-over clocked as well despite what retailers may claim. The power consumption and heat wih their reference design is higher. It is true the ghz editions are newer but they are almost a hundred bucks more expensive and you can easily OC this card further than a reference GHz. Subtle difference that I find difficult to justify the price diff. May be better off holding on to the cash and doubling up on the 7970 when required.

      I waited for the GHz and was disappointed at release. :(

    I've read some reviews saying that the VRMs on this card get to dangerious temperatures. I'm talking 110C+. I got the Gigabyte 7970 OC from PCCG instead for $419.

        The cooler is a different design, but in my opinion it is better on the GB (3 fans vs 2). Bit noisy though, especially at 100% speed.

    Was gonna buy the gigabyte one for 349 + postage, had it in my cart and everything but since no easy way to cancel order didn't wanna risk ending up with 2 cards >__<

      You can call centrecom Sunshine which is where the internet orders are processed from and they should be mentioned on your reciept. But they will still tell you to email your requests in to [email protected] but you might get breif anwsers

    So the sunshine store staff blatantly lied to me…

      I tried to cancel on Monday as i am local and wanted to go to Clayton superstore and pickup - at this stage the money had not left my bank and status was Paypal (awaiting confirmation).
      Centrecom advised send email and cancel will be fine, 5 minutes later my order status changed to processing and my money had gone from my bank.
      Called back and Antony told me we have 17 in stock and my order would be dispatched Tuesday night and should be received on Wednesday. Wednesday seemed reasonable and stock levels had been confirms so i was happy to wait for shipment.

      On Wednesday my order changed to awaiting stock, called back and wrote email to Anthony worried about stock levels.

      Anthony replied to my email half a day later confirming that their is stock of my product and my order will be dispatched shortly…..
      As yet, i have not received an email to say that my order is not coming (as posted above) but my order status has not changed either.

      P.S My Girlfirends bag arrived today; free shipping from America ordered on Sunday(8th) night

          I know my chances of them sending out my order is extremely unlikely but figured I would report them anyway so they think twice about shoddy behavior in future.
