Just browsing at BigW and came across what I see are great bargains in the phone and computer section in Glenorchy Tasmania. Presume these prices are nationwide, and I have not seen cheaper anywhere else!!

Vodafone Pocket Wifi 2 - $15.80 down from $78 - Photo - http://alturl.com/pii39
Includes 6GB of data and 94 day Expiry !!!!!

There have been other deals posted for $29 and $39.50, but this is the cheapest I have seen. Links in the other posts indicate possible cheap ebay unlock @ http://alturl.com/obkru
** Please don't bag Vodafone, they are getting better, and consider the price ** Perfect for Mums and Dads!

Also there were:
Belkin N150 Wireless Adapter - $8 - Photo - http://alturl.com/4k2o3

Belkin N300 Wireless Adapter - $12 - Photo - http://alturl.com/nzsc9

Plenty of adapters left on the shelf, but I grapped the last 2 Pocket WiFi's @ Glenorchy.

Is the pocket wifi locked to Vodafone? or I can use other network sim with it?

    • Locked I think, I can't test as I only have vodafone sims :), but possible cheap unlock via the link I gave in the OP.

    • +2

I unlocked mine for free using Vodafone's website, WITHOUT activating it first. Website said there was a problem, and to please provide a mobile number so they can contact me. They sent a SMS in 2 days asking me to try again… unlock worked :-)
      https://unlock.vodafone.com.au

      • Just had a look and they wanted $25 to unlock.

        • No its FREE!
(It states Unlocking your device online saves you $25.00.)
Vodafone just sent SMS to say my unlock code is available - via Vodafone unlock site!
          (Took 2 working days)
Handset Unlock Procedure for IMEI: ***************
          Your unlock code is: ********
          Manufacturer/Model: Huawei_E585

          Worked & FREE!

        • I wish it was that easy: http://i46.tinypic.com/23locwx.jpg

        • Did it today - it was!
Entered my IMEI on https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/ a few days back, it said they needed to get back to me so left my mobile number, they contacted me by SMS today - try the site again as my IMEI had been added to their system. A minute later it was unlocked. Simple & Free!

        • Did you not look at my screenshot? I'll keep checking, but I am not getting the "we'll get back to you message" and I'm cat inlay not putting in credit card details to test it.

        • Saw it ($50-25!!) - but I never was sent there - just that my IMEI was not on their records & they set up the system for me to get unlocked free. Easiest way.
          So did you get 6G & 94 days as the op said - I only got 3G & 30d.

I would re enter IMEI & try again, contact Voda, or use the free process in http://www.wikihow.com/Unlock-Huawei-E585-Mifi-Router

        • -1

Entered the IMEI for a second Pocket WiFi2 (still to be unwrapped) into Voda's unlock site - gave me the unlock code immediately.

  • +1

who cares whether it's voda, it's unlockable & has 850-900-2100 bands so is carrier independent.
I can't see it on their website so I guess it's store by store

    • Interesting isn't it, there are lots of wireless products (routers etc) in-store not on the website. The N150 is listed @ $48.88 and the N300 is not listed at all.

    • Can I get some recommendations for carriers please?

  • +3

Anyone else see this in their stores?

  • Is it possible to buy Belkin N150/N300 Wireless Adapter online?

  • Not bad for $5 a month!!! + from me!!!
Hopefully there's one at my local Big W!!!

    • +2

      !!!!!!!!

      • +2

        $15.80 ÷ approx 3 months (94 day expiry) = $5.OO a month. Kind of!!!
        edit:
Or are you picking on my over exuberant use of exclamation marks? ;)

        • +2

          !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • +1

          !!!!!!!

        • +1

Wait, you can still use the actual device after 94 days.
          Don't throw it away !!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • I was more thinking data usage / plan costs over a period… not the actual unit itself!
Then again… If you can't get a recharge with that kind of value, you may be better off getting a new one each time and resell the unit!

    • Thought it was 3GB over 30 days.

      • Not sure, but OP wrote "Includes 6GB of data and 94 day Expiry !!!!!"
Ps. These exclamation marks have not been inserted by myself, but are are duplicate of the OP's" ;)

        • It' had 94 days expiry on the box without any reference to GB's I actually rang them and they confirmed 6GB and 94 days. I will be activating mine in Feb, and transferring an expiring ~11GB from an existing account.

        • I think there are 2 types- $79 one has 3gb/30 days, $99 has 6gb/90 days. I thought this was the $79. Anyone activated it?

        • I haven't yet activated mine, but I rang Vodafone to confirm and they said that if it states on the box 94 days expiry then it includes 6gb of data. If it states 30day expiry then it includes 3gb of data. These should have been $99 stock RRP price from what Vodafone cs said

  • Wife was in Epping Plaza (Victoria) and checked in the Big-W there. Had a sticker on the shelf for the Pocket WiFi 2 at $15.80, but had already sold out.

  • So no one has managed to grab one in Sydney so far?

Either it's not on special or the shelves are still full !!!
    I hope the later ;)

  • According to http://everydaygiftcards.com.au/Redemption#fragment-2

    All BIG W Stores accept
    WISH Gift Cards

So I take that those ebay purchased DSE WISH card bring it effectively to .9*15.8 =14.22.

Know if its the same one as this - http://dicksmith.com.au/product/EB5018/vodafone-pocket-wifi-… ?

    • +1

if you live in/close to Glenorchy TAS, yes

    • +1

While I had the DSE gift card in my wallet, I actually used the 5% off wish card (via entertainment book), so $15.01 for me.

    • yair still have the de branded K3771 to fall back on in any case, quite an easy FW change too.

  • +1

OK, so this is not a catalogue special. Just a in-store special probably.
    Ah well

  • no stock @ bankstown
    Was just their

  • Headed to Big W Werribee Plaza now… :)

    • keep us informed

    • +1 keep me informed please

    • One in cabinet, purchased by me, marked as $79 but scanned up as proper price.
Interestingly the people ahead of me were purchasing cheap Vodafone smartphones for $20 each, Haweui or however its spelt…. Not marked on shelf, assuming pre-paid handset.

    • Also could not find the wireless N dongles either :(

  • Picked up the last 2 pocket wifi's from Robina on the GC.
Were marked as $79 but came up as $15.80 when scanned.
    Thanks OP

  • Grabbed last 2 at bendigo,
    Thanks OP

  • Are these things 3g? So no point with Telstra new 4G right?
Vodafone ran a 3G network right? I am not bagging Vodafone - this is a serious question.
    Thank you

    • Where did 4G Telstra come in from ?
This is a thread about Voda wifi mode.
And yes, Voda currently only have a 3G network, with 4G coming 'sometime next year'

    • These Pocket Wifi's will work on Telstras 3G network, as they support the frequency Telstra uses. 4G is not supported, and 4G modems are sold at a premium, probably still around $100 price for USB dongle.

$15.80 is an amazing price. I bought the Virgin Modem when they first came out, and it was $230, a spare battery was able to be purchased and it was about $50 or $80.

  • Picked up the last one from Big W Hervey Bay…thanks OP!

  • +1

Got the last two at Belmont, WA. Sounds like it is nation-wide!! Product code as per the receipt: 8241581.
    Thanks OP!

    • Thanks for the product code.
      Can't d/l receipt at work.

  • +1

Just picked 2 up from Big W in Muswellbrook NSW. There were plenty left.

  • OK, just called Plumpton, Auburn, Rouse Hill, Blacktown. All out of stock. This probably means it was a Australia-wide deal. Got in too late. :(

Top Ryde store might have some though. I'm too far away though

    • I was in Top Ryde coincidentally when this deal was posted. I asked and bought the last wifi pocket they had in stock. Top Ryde is definitely out of stock. I rang Rockdale, Campsie, Auburn and Macquarie Centre - all out of stock.

  • Thanks! Rang my local BigW in Brissie (free PennyTel call!) & got the last Pocket Wifi 2 put aside.
    $15.01 on ING Paywave!

  • Got one from bigs calamvale in QLD

FYI, unlock codes are only $2.26 on eBay

  • No stock left in Tweed City Big W
Kmart looked like they'd price match till I stupidly told them there was no stock at big W.

  • Bigw in menai got old stock pocket wifi for 40$ with 3gb data 1 month

  • just checked Big W in Auburn. the n150 going for $39.50.
    couldnt find the n300.
    the wifi not on special.

    • Did you get them scanned? Other stores had the wifi at full price and it scanned @ $15.80

      • I have to love when that happens. It happened to me with the Hobbit Swisse promo. I decided to buy it even though the price was different from online and it scanned the online price. Go figure.

    • Too late, I bought the last two there at 7pm. The $8 one called "CONNECT N150" . see op's pic. Not sure what's the difference.

  • I called Top Ryde Big W and they said it was $39.50 too. SKU in the photo and in store are different. Apparently they have the newer stock or something. But I might be stopping by there anyway and will try to scan it and see if it scans at something else.

Just got back from BIGW Glenorchy and they had quite a range of discounted networking equipment, biggest bargains were the Belkin Wireless N150 and 300 dongles though. I did pick up a Belkin Surf N300 router (Belkin F7D2301) though.

  • I once tried one of those services with a huawei ideos u8150 and it took about 3 weeks to get a refund. It didn't work and the guy was trying to tell me to put the code in again for the fifth time which locks the phone btw. He couldn't understand why I was hesitant to try it for the fifth time.

  • This is tempting me…even though I will have no use for it… =\

  • Only other place I can find that might pricematch is Dick Smith. Anyone else found any other stores?

Here's a nice wireless card to put in if you plan on making a WiFi hotspot for your wireless n300 adapters.

  • No stock available for sale (only one on display, refused to sell it) at Stafford City QLD @ 8pm Thursday 27/12.

  • Great deal, nabbed the last Pocket WiFi 2 from the Taigum Big W. Thanks OP!

    • Any of the other items available there?

      • Sorry KLoNe, I'm not sure. I actually phoned ahead—the sales guy put the last unit aside for me, and I sent my bro over to pick it up on my behalf.

  • wondering, once i unlock this one, can i use overseas sim card, and use it on overseas.. any idea?

    • +1

Yep, did that in Vietnam, works fine unlocked!

  • How can I get the 6g data

  • South yarra Vic is out of stock and bigw Doncaster is scanning at $79

    • Show them the receipts posted above….

      • I think they're $79 because they're the PRO model, which is perhaps the new model.

My prev. post should have said BigW southland is scanning at $79. Doncaster confirmed the $15.80 clearance price (even though the sticker said $79) when I asked, however they didn't have stock.

  • Big Wobble u in Brisbane CBD are also scanning at $79

  • No Stock available at Waverley Gardens ( Vic)

  • No stock at Seaford store in SA.
Any chance anyone's able to pick one up for me and post it to SA? Would be much appreciated!

    • +3

Scratch that, victor Harbor SA has 5 so I have all 5 on hold for pickup tomorrow and will be happy to post out to others that are wanting one

      • I will take one with much thanks. If you have any available.

      • I would also like one please if you still have some.

      • I will take one if you have one to spare. Thanks
