Logitech UE 900 IEMs - DickSmith's for $299.99

51

Saw this at Dicksmith's a while ago during their 40% off all headphone sale but was sold out.

It is a 4-way balanced armature driver and looks promising.

    People pay $300 for earphones?

    • +1

      Can it fly?

      • +2

        nope, but you will!

    • +3

      Trust me, it's worth it.

      • +1

$300 earphones but listen to MP3 lol.

        • mostly FLAC and some 320 MP3.

        • Probably VBR mp3's too.

      • I think that would differ deepening on the disposable income…
I.E. I don't think they would be worth it when I'd be using them from a $50 phone (LG L690F)…

    • People pay $1000 for earphones, even.

      • or.., a million or two for a car.

    • +14

that's a ridiculous comment with no foundation; for a start more expensive IEMs tend to have much better isolation, meaning you can listen at much lower volumes

What does quality audio have to do with hearing loss?

      • $$$ = loud?

        • Not necessarily, unless that's specifically what you're after.

    • +12

If you can't tell the difference between a $2 pair of earphones and a $300 pair, then you're hearing is as good as gone already.

The money you pay for higher end ones isn't to get louder earphones, it's to get better quality audio. As already noted, better ones (which don't have to cost as much as $300 btw) typically isolate better which in turn means you can listen to them at a lower volume than you would if you were having to listen to background noise. They're probably better for your hearing if anything.

I can't find any stores with stock… sorry i gotta neg it

  • I already rang dick smith earlier today.. all sold out online and basically almost no store has it..

i never knew earphones could cost so much, headphones yeah but this is just a piece of wire essentially.

    • +7

I don't see why headphones can be justified as costing hundreds of dollars but earphones can't? If anything, they are attempting to do the same thing but in a much smaller amount of space.

Following that argument, headphones are also just a piece of string held together with a leather band, and should also be cheap?

    Ok people
Why do you pay $999 for a 64GB iPhone, when you can buy a cheap android phone for $150 and get a 64GB micro SD card for $50
Toyota and Mercedes both get you from A to B

    The same idea applies here

Some people pay $1000 on audio cables alone which I think is ridiculous but that's what they wanna do

    • Time to move on from the apple vs android debate dude, phrase it how you like, that's what your comment boils down to

      • I can't exactly compare a 2G phone and a smartphone can I?

        • whatever floats your boat fanboy

        • -1

          and I use a Galaxy S3
          Snap

        • I was supposed to say
I use both Apple and Samsung products at the same time
          Snap

    • +1

Dumbest example ever. A $150 Android phone would be woeful compared to an iPhone 5, let's not pretend they'd be comparable. I work with Android devices all the time (I'm an Android dev), and I can tell you now that there's a lot more rubbish than gems.

Also, spending $1000 on cables is completely different to spending $300 on canalphones.

      • Ok it's not the same.
Toyota and Merc are not the same either. I've driven them
But you know what I mean.

They can do the same thing
Obviously $30 earphones and $300 earphones produce sound but I'd always spend more money to get better quality.

        I own 2 pairs of $300+ earphones/headphones and 2 pairs of $200 headphones/earphones.

        Relax people

I'm not here to judge I was just giving a simple example

Nothing wrong with paying $300 for quality earphones especially with dicksmith warranty.

    SRS.
I always buy my earphones from dicksmith and wouldn't mind paying premium for their warranty. Although my earphones only cost $70, I do intend to buy higher end one in the future.

Note, this is $300 for around 3 year base warranty. Which is about $100 a year. If you think $100 sounds like alot for headphones for a years use, then You are crazy lol.

This is coming from a heavy headphone user here who can listen to anywhere between 2-10 hours a day. Laptop/Walkman use ofcourse.

  • anyone know any decent earphones around the $100-130? Heading to the U.S next month and can hopefully pick up a nice set there

  • out of stock… missed this great deal

  • Dam I wish i could have got a paid.
