  • Great find, does anyone know about the quality?

    • +11

The rep "found" this on their own website, I think. ;)

      • Last time I had to buy one of these it cost me over $50. You can't argue with a great deal.

  • +4

Bought one because of the $7 price tag. Might find a use for this one day…

    • +4

      True OzBargain spirit.

  • Not a bad price for a PLL FM radio with voice recording. Its storage is woefully small, but you can't expect miracles for the $7 delivered price.

    • What's PLL?

      • Phase locked loop. Means of locking the signal on the frequency, as radios tend to drift. Nothing new though.

  • Just ordered and paid for 2, great price. I bought one a few years back and paid $49, so at $7 they are a steal. Lost my last one :( I'll leave a comment after they arrive and I've tested one of them.

    • +10

You know this is a pretty good price when a rep from another store (that sells audio equipment) buys two. :P

  • Does this have a built in speaker for listening to MP3s?

  • Ordered one. Thanks op.

  • just ordered 2! hopefully this will be good for uni lectures

  • +1

Considering just for the lapel mic…

Wireless? Audio-jack or will it fit in my Nikon?

    • +1

      Audio Jack - standard size.

  • +1

Site is struggling, suffering from ozbargainning I guess…. 8-)

    Site is erroring out…

  • +2

    site is down.

  • +2

Great if you don't have a smart phone

    • +1

but not many phones have STEREO mics!

      • Is there a lot of need for stereo in a voice recorder?

        • If you are recording music, big yes.

  • +1

How safe is this site? It's not one I've heard of before.

  • +27

Everyone - please chill out!!! You guys are crashing our site. We have 12,000 of these units in stock, so there's plenty to go around.

Im afraid increasing our server memory at this time is not possible - so if you get any error messages, please try again later.

    • +1

Ah that explains it. Maybe you should mention this by editing the blurb above using bold text or people won't see this.

    • +23

      Its not us…its Broden.

    • +7

+1 for having decent stock levels and good price.

    • Lmfao. ;)

    • +14

Consider it our free server load testing. Our gift to you for posting such a nice deal :)

    • Just got a server error on the last step of checking out after paying via Paypal. I got the Paypal confirmation that payment was made, but upon returning to the home page there's still one item in my cart. Is there any way to check if the order was made successfully?

EDIT: nevermind, managed to login to my account after a few times and it showed there.

  • Site is very slow.

    • +9

The site is getting smashed at the moment. You'll just have to wait. Again there are 12,000 in stock so there should be plenty to go around. If you get 403 Forbidden errors, please try again later.

Sorry for the stuff around, the OzB factor can be difficult to predict.

  • +3

Not a bad price for a PLL FM radio with voice recording

  • Expandable memory, Bluetooth or wifi on it? Maybe asking to much :p

  • +1

Can't get in. You Seagulls! :)

  • Had to go out after purchasing a recorder, came back and thought I would search the rest of the site…………………………………….or not, tomorrow maybe :)

  • I've had an Olin SD MP3 player before…the sound quality was atrocious but it worked.

    Thanks for the post rep.

The Olin website are claiming a RRP of $180.00 for this!
    http://www.olinlivenow.com.au/product/capture-now/part/62-OL…
Here's the link to the specs on this bad boy.
    http://www.westwell.com.au/resources/documents/OLIN-OVR100EM…

    • $180? Pfft.

  • +1

    Anyone recognise this?
    http://sieuthimayvanphong.com/images/catalog/sony%20p720.jpg

Our Olin rep did say they used the same OEM as Sony for these units - so we thought we'd check.
Not sure if it's a real model, can find plenty of them in Vietnamese retailers. The "sony" model is ICD P720. More memory - but otherwise exactly the same.

  • +1

    Good deal and thanks!

  • +1

Will attempt to record live music with it. Sound quality can't be worse than the sh*t sound recording quality of my galaxy s3 (the audio chip is crap, so no way to get around it with software, the single reason that makes me miss my iPhone).

    • I'm also interested in experimenting with some live music recording. Those loud pub rock gigs are always heaps distorted so I might have to sit a fair distance away from the drums and amps.

  • the same seller is selling these on ebay for $21.90 delivered. Better get in quick lol

  • +1

    ordered one, thanks op

  • Nice deal. Snagged one. Cheers.

  • +1

How do you make and ship something this sophisticated and cheaply ? Thanks JJ ! :P

    • +9

someone loses a crap load of money. :)

      • u sure?

      • I believe you but wondering which company is throwing these out the door and why?

      • If I had to guess, I'd say the manufacturer OLIN is losing out. If you look at their website, they list only 2 voice recorders (512MB model @ $180 RRP and 1GB @ $250 RRP). These models probably retailed at those prices when they first came out (ie. many years ago). The big selling feature of the 1GB model (apart from double the storage) is that it's bundled with Dragon Naturally Speaking software version 8 which only supports Windows 2000/XP.

Although a bargain at $7 & $14 respectively, both OLIN recorders are superseded models and are therefore being cleared out as end of line products (there are no replacement models on the OLIN website). In comparison, the Sony website has consumer voice recorders (with 2GB minimum) listed from $59 to $169, and professional models from $349 to $629.

  • +5

I don't even know what this is. Bought.

  • +1

Really can't argue with $7, but I think my phone already has these features.

  • How long will it record with 512mb? I'm guessing you won't get the 15hrs of battery life.

    • 9 to 291 hours depending on setting according to the manual.
After reading the manual I ordered a second one :)

      • So how does it compare to a phone considering the microphone is very small?
It only encodes in 128kbps mp3.

Anyway, playback on the speaker and earphones will probably be poor as it states 20Hz - 20KHz in the manual, last page.

Someone above mentioned that playback quality on their olin mp3 player was poor.

Anyway, there is most likely no loss being made, this is probably just obsolete stock being dumped.

  • Shows up with $13.36 or something for me.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

    • +6

If you +ve this deal, it will become $7…

      • Hey yeah.. that helped.

  • +5

Found the same unit for $2 with pickup available in NSW and shipping is $8.95 so current deal is cheaper depending on the number of units you are after: http://crazystu.com.au/Olin_OVR_100_512MB_Pro_Digital_Voice_…

There is also a 1GB model (OVR101) with BONUS ear mic for phone recording as well as Dragon Naturally Speaking Software for $9.90 (+ shipping $8.95):
    http://crazystu.com.au/voice-recorders/olin-ovr101-1gb-profe…

    • Nice find, the 512mb model only becomes cheaper when ordering 4 or more.

Edit: Considering getting the 1GB from there for the Dragon speech to text, or old version so not worth it?

    • The 512 MB model from crazy stu does not come with the in ear mic i guess, I could be wrong

    • +8

Wtf? Jungle Jumble and Crazy Stu are the same company - NASORA Pty Ltd

They are in the same building: UNIT 1-2 PACIFIC HIGHWAY, Central Coast 2250 WEST GOSFORD, NEW SOUTH WALES

Jungle Jumble address: 2/37 Central Coast Hwy (Pacifc Hwy), West Gosford, NSW 2250

Crazy Stu: 1/37 Central Coast Hwy (Pacifc Hwy) West Gosford NSW 2250

      ???????

      • +1

        Well noticed, K
Interesting… So can we have them for $2 plus postage?

      • Quite the detective, k. Didn't you solve another mystery here on ozbargain awhile back? or was that someone else, i forget what it was now.

      • Nothing wrong with this of course …

  • Hi Rep, I paid via paypal, after confirm the payment and click place order, it said on your website " Unable to place the order." I press the again and it said "PayPal gateway has rejected request. A successful transaction has already been completed for this token (#10415: Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional error messages for details)."

I received the receipt from paypal, but none from junglejumble….??

    • Maybe login to your account and see if it's in your list of things already purchased. Also check your spam folder?

      • I got the same message too. It could already charge for that transaction then you would get reply email from Paypal. I have got charged through Paypal, but I don't see my order history in JungleJumble site.

  • 512mb seems pitiful,
but if it the recording can really last from 9 to 250 hours
    then i might get one~!

    • +3

I carry MP3s to play in the car on a USB stick. 512MB is about 8 hours of high quality VBR encoded stereo music. For lower quality voice recording that could be many more hours. So the estimate is correct.

  • I bought two I think. Does anyone know about when delivery is?

I'd really like to have it for when I got overseas in 2 weeks time

  • Just ordered one, thanks! Great deal and great rep.

  • Rep, could you explain how the mic for recording phone conversations can be connected? I want to use it for recording phone conversation. I have a handset with 3.5mm headset socket.

    • Mic in ear, phone (any phone) to same ear - audio is passed through the mic and into your ear. Your voice is also passed to Mic - recording is surprisingly clear. Very impressive.

      • The ear mic is included right? I did tick the box.

        • yes

      • +1

I tried it and it didn't record anything, then I worked out that you have to plug the ear-microphone into the headphones socket, not the line in socket! weird…

        • I agree. That is counter-intuitive. I kept trying and trying until reality finally dawned on me ;)

  • im gonna order another as a gift for my friend who likes playing piano and singing
hope the quality is good x[

  • Hey Rep are you going to get the 1GB model too?

    • just grab two of them

    • We have.

      • +2

Could not find the 1GB on your website.

      • Cant see it either - link?

  • +6

Got 2, don't know why I ordered two, this morning I didn't even need one.

    • +2

      true ozbargainer xD

    • +3

We live in times of plenty and excess…

      • +2

We live in the age of cheap consumer goods and gadgets. Win :)

  • Wow.

  • +1

Adding to the list of stuff that OzBargain made me buy without me really needing it… Just because it is a BARGAIN!

  • hi rep, the site was very laggy and when placing the order the message 'unable to place order' came up while the money was still taken out of my paypal. I sent you a message on OzB with no reply.. If the money was taken out does that mean its on your system?

    • Same here, PayPal charged me and then JungleJumble cancelled my order. How are you going to resolve this situation?

      • If you have sent private messages to me, I have responded. Sorry about the inconvenience, our system was unreliable at best yesterday. All is good now as the system load has reduced.

        • I've been waiting for your reply since the 29th.

        • replied again on the same day but still waiting on a response from rep
