Got one for $1 a couple of weeks back.

I got one for $1 a few weeks ago.. it was ok, but pretty sure it had either cherries and coconut.. if it had raspberry and white chocolate, it was very light on.

    • its raspberry infused cranberries that you see and taste, there are also frozen raspberries in it but it melts when mixed in dough so its ratio is very low compared other ingredients that results in lighter taste of raspberry.

Thanks OP for the heads up. Always love a freebie. They somehow just taste better. LOL :-))

  • damn, out of the country then

  • Felt sick after having their raspberry and white chocolate one

    $2.00 per bun RRP??

Wtaf?! Who in their right mind is paying $2 a pop for a single hot cross bun?

    It's

one a penny two a penny hot cross buns

    not

$2 for a single bun you stupid suckers

Inflation. One penny back then in 1800/1900, is probably worth $2 or more in 2025. But I wouldn't know, I live in the present, not in an age old nursery rhyme

        Bah humbug.

        Enjoy your $2 buns… LMAO

I'm an atheist, so it's not really my wheelhouse, but isn't "National Hot Cross buns day" usually known as "Good Friday"?

When I google "National Hot Cross Bun Day" it shows 11th September but only in the USA. Why September I have no idea. Nothing for AUS.

It seems they have a 'day' for just about everything nowadays but as OP stated, this is Baker's Delight's "self-declared" National Hot Cross Bun day so clearly just a marketing ploy to get people to try one of their buns before Easter. I guess with a hope to attract people to their stores and increase sales.
      Pretty smart really.

  • Thanks OP

    These are actually really good!

yeah I got one of the $1 ones the other week, it was available via the Bakers Delight app.

I love their Raspberry and White Choc scones, but the Raspberry and White Choc hot cross bun wasn't nice at all. I didn't like it. Tasted heavy on the spice. And not even very hot cross bun-ish.

still a good deal for free though. someone will like it.

Didn't realise they had an app, thanks for letting us know - I'm assuming they have app only deals from time to time?

yeah I think it might be part of the loyalty program, doughgetters (which is free to join)
        https://www.bakersdelight.com.au/doughgetters/

you get a birthday freebie, and reward offers. And after you spend $55 you get $5 off a purchase. There's currently a signup reward of a free pack of hot cross buns with a $5 purchase.

They email you with offers that also show up in the app.

The most recent offer for me (which ended yesterday) was: "When you purchase a delicious Mini Cheese & Bacon Savoury Roll 6 Pack, you’ll unlock a FREE Hi-Fibre Lo-GI White Lunch Box Roll 6 Pack to pick up with your next purchase"

        • Awesome, will definitely download cheers!

I just picked up mine. They made up rules like "one per paying customer", adults only (I had my kid with me).

I set them straight and said 'one per customer', no age limit, no mention of purchase needed.

I hate it when staff make up rules on the fly

wonder if we visited the same place. I got a grumpy lady saying it’s “one per family”.

      • +1

Did you put her in her place? Employees like these are overstepping their role. It's irritating

        • +1

Luckily I saw your comment earlier and reiterated the same as you..it’s one per customer. She grumbled and asked if we were going to purchase anything savoury. Loool. Sometimes I wonder why they bother advertising if they’re reluctant to give them out 🤷

            @ozbargaincheapo: They're probably a franchise model.
Head office develops these promotions, the franchise has to follow. Sucks, but hey - they work under the Bakers Delight branding and are contracted as such.

  • Missed out at Wynyard station in Sydney CBD by 5mins. They were gone by 9am

Got lucky Seaford SA. Arrived at 10:45am asked the girl at the counter she said absolutely and no purchase was necessary.
