Will probably only get cheaper as more people avoid travelling to the US given the current political turmoil.

Didn't know Ozbargain was so political ha.

  • They don't actually work. AA comes back with an error after entering all your details. It's been like this for weeks (I've tried multiple Minneapolis dates over the last few weeks coming in at $1200 and none work). Then a few hours later its replaced with something like $2k+, is it a bait and switch by the airline?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/884820

Read some of the comments here. Some options for you to try and find available fares. Had the same issue and eventually ended up buying from aa.com

    • I am able to click through to the AA page and book these at the prices above - try the linked price above for Melbourne to Atlanta

      • I get right to the button the proceeds to the payment page then instead it presents an error page that it is not available. Then returning to the price listing shows the exact flights I chose at at least 50% more in price than a few minutes before. I have tried directly via AA page, and also via US AA page in US dollars, and nothing works - I admit I can only go during peak period so perhaps those dates have wrong pricing, but regardless, the price shown as lower to begin with and I could not get it.

        • That so weird, I am on the payment page now—apart from actually entering a credit card number and buying a flight (which I dont want to do, ha) it's allowing me to buy these at the listed prices

          • @CheapFlightHunter: Or do you mean once you have entered credit card details and hit 'pay now' you get the error?

I heard the rain storms ain't nothing to mess with but I can't feel a drip on the strip

yeah nah, cancelled plans this year for a family trip to the US because of orange twat and space karen. Going japan instead

    • +11

Same, heading to Greece and Italy instead. Didn't really want to be in the US when they roll tanks into their allied neighbours. Anything to be just like his hero.

        • Critical thinking doesn't exist on Ozbargain. MSM hive mind at display here.

Most people here are on reddit which consumes woke left ideology and are unable to decipher reality.

          • @compound: Agreed

@Danstar: He was supposed to start WW3 like what the MSM narrates, not advocate for peace!
              How dare he!

Political uncertainty is a red flag when travelling, you may or may not agree with a nations politics but that isn't what matters,
It's whether it will be stable, the usa is currently far from stable,

For all we know if our flights were to arrive in may, we don't know at this date there muggy be a sudden $100 tourist arrival tax per day, or % of total holiday levy.

We just can't know , we changed to japan also

I’d be more scared of lib Ts who are causing chaos (again)

@ceej11: Still going on about that 1 thing?

I’m assuming you just flat out ignore what the democrats do?

              • -1

@Danstar: hahaha yeah, just tried to overthrow the government psshh it was basically nothing. How good is trump for pardoning all of them, great stuff… Those dems through, they want more than 2 genders so they're clearly the assholes right? /s I spose this orange (profanity) crashing the share market, cozying up to russia, pissing off decade old allies, rug pulling crypto..is completely fine? idk why im even bothering to reply tbh.

What do you mean "stable" ? US is green on the government's travel advice website, you can't get better than that.

          • -4

@MrZ: TDS makes you see /believe things that aren’t there/happening

          • -1

@MrZ: The travel advice scope is physical safety

the cost of your holiday is not on their measured guage.

High fluctuations in travel costs is the danger to travellers wallet and potentially threat ability to enjoy and fund a holiday

          • @MrZ: https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/article/uk-germany-issue-us-tra…

Several European countries have added travel warnings for their citizens travelling to the United States in light of concerns they could face problems at the border because of the Trump administration’s policies.

In the wake of the stricter U.S. rules, citizens from other countries were refused entry or detained, including a Canadian. Vancouver entrepreneur Jasmine Mooney spent almost two weeks in various detention centres. Mooney was detained earlier this month after she applied for a visa at the U.S.-Mexico border, but she says she didn’t have much information on why she was jailed.

In another case, U.S. border officials on March 9 prevented a French space scientist from staying in the country to attend a conference and deported him, accusing him of writing “hateful” messages on his phone against U.S. policy, AFP reported.

        President Musk

  • miami is the worst man, unless you're some rich clown. If you like cuban food or whatever just go to havana it's way cheaper and way less numpties

    • -1

lol Cuba. Australia doesn't even have an embassy there.

    • +1

…but it costs $4k to get there

    • I haven't been to Miami but would think that it would be an amazing place to visit if you're single.

  • Some very cheap flights in peak time. You unfortunately can't do stopovers but you can leave from different airports and still get the fare. e.g. Fly to Salt Lake City, Return from Detroit/Minn./Atlanta.

  • Flight from Melbourne to Detroit has got layover at LA for 2 hours. is it enough?

    • All depends on how fast immigration goes through. At least this is all part of the same itinerary so its up to AA to rebook you on the next flight to Detroit if you miss it.
