Slime Tyre Repair Tube Sealant 16oz (473ml) $28 + $12 Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Repco (Price Beat $27.50 @ Supercheap Auto)

110

Had a few bike tyre punctures thanks to some three corner jacks and decided to find a possible solution without getting my inner tubes replaced again.

This product is currently $40 at SCA for the 473ml size bottle however I was able price beat by using Tuggeranong A.C.T 2901 or Narrogin WA 6393 as the Click and collect locations on the Repco website. Unsure about other states stock levels, the Repco website isn't super helpful with finding other stores with stock.

Aka Bindi or devil thorn..they are nature's caltrops. Used to be huge problem in some areas but I haven't encountered any in a while.

Fyi for others, these are not for tubeless tyres.. but they can be mixed to create bulk sealant for tubeless (but I don't recommend this anymore anyway unless you're going through A LOT)

    This stuff does not work.

    • Has worked perfectly for me. I’ve used it in all my e-scooters and never had a flat in 3000km. Have found holes in the tubes that slime plugged.

    • Just used it Sunday to plug a 5 ml bolt hole in my car's tyre

Keen to know if this works for a bike tyre with a tube.

I found out the hard way it doesn’t work on holes in the walls of the tire, only the base

    • nothing'll help with a tyrewall breach

also this is a temporary solution, it'll throw your wheel balance right out

      • First part is correct, second part is not. If anything, it’ll self-balance the wheel due to centrifugal force.

        • bruh

            • @eggboi: if you're talking about scooter wheels i'd be willing to bet wheel balancing is not a thing on account of limited top speed and minimal circumference

as for a sports bike at the other end of the scale for eg this stuff'll very much throw your balance out

              • @0jay: All offroad competitive cycling pretty much exclusively uses tubeless tyres with sealant. So i can’t imagine that’s an issue. If you’re on a road bike tearing down a mtn at 70kmh, wheel balance is definitely important, but the faster you go, the more evenly sealant is distributed in the tyre. Also i don’t think road racers use this stuff. I would happily use it in a bike for commuting up to 60kmh, and i think it’s also intended for dirt bikes which can go way faster.

                • @eggboi: cycling…?

sport bike doesn’t give it away?

70km? you do wheel balance on your pushie or wha?

Used it with a scooter when there was a leak around the valve. It held about 20psi (normally 50) which was enough to get it back in one piece.

    • That’s hectic that it plugged a valve stem leak. Those are the worst.

      • The first time I've ever seen it work. The tube is hanging in my shed still with air in it.

        • “Straight to the pool room!”
