Recently bought the fit3 after our $125 GT2e failed after3 years.

The touchscreen came unglued from the body. Tried glue, but it came off again, so bought the fit3.

Got one of those case units for it, so the front doesn't fall off, but the water resistance is stuffed …

I still use the original watch fit that was used before we got the GT2e, and still going strong.

One of the biggest changes with the fit3 is that so many of the faces now cost money, whereas most were free with the fit.

Enough free ones around for the fit3 though.

    • Did you take it back to the Huawei store and speak to the staff for a replacement?

      • Got it from Amazon UK via the AU store.

I was OK with the 3 years of life for the price I paid. Better than some other watches I have had.

If I had paid 3 or 4 times that, I would be more inclined to complain.

      • $125 and after 3 years. I think it has a good life already.

    I am still using GT3…

    • +3

My dad is still using the GT3 too! Battery life is still great even after 3-4 years of use.

      • My battery died after just over a year :/ been meaning to replace it.. but just haven't gotten around to it

I'm on the GT3se, it's rock solid, never skipped a beat, amazing GPS use and battery life is still best in class compared to all these other smartwatches with apps that sap the battery in a few days.

  • Is there a subscription service?

    • No. The app doesn't even need to be connected to the 'net to get the data from the device. You do need a Huawei account to set-up the app (from memory), but once that's done you don't need to be connected.

Also, unlike the Fitbit I had previously, which required location services to be on every time you wanted to get the data off, you only need location services on when initially connecting the watch, or if you need to reconnect the watch. This is much nicer for those of us that don't have location services on by default.

Location services being on, of course, is another bullshit move by Google.

I recently upgraded from GT 3 Pro to the GT 5 Pro. GPS sensor is much more accurate, for me definitely was worth the upgrade.

    • Can the GT 5 pro do contactless payment via NFC and what about ECG?

      • It won't support contact less payment. Am using GT5.

        • Damn that's the only deal breaker for my next watch, I'm sticking with the GT3se unless the GT5 pro can do payment.

      • You have to enable ECG with a bit of a workaround, as by default it doesn't have approvals for Australia.

  • Should I buy the Huawei Band 9 from AliExpress instead? It seems much cheaper therein.

  • Oh yes! Been waiting for GT5 Pro to go on sale, a friend had one in the party, quality built.

  • A scientific review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS8XM5fmHHQ
To sum it up: GPS - great, the rest of the sensors average at best.
Battery life as usually - amazing

Huawei coming back from the ashes?

They build cars now. Where is Apple car?

    Hi,
Just to confirm, NO Huawei watch (5 or 5 pro) supports NFC? If not then sorry this is a deal breaker for me. I currently have the samsung watch 4 classic and routinely use NFC for quick payments out and about. I want to switch to Huawei for the GREAT battery life, especially compared to Samsung watches but if no NFC then ill have to wait. Quick google search shows that NFC but only in EU and US markets? Hopefully in Aus soon too then.

    • I can confirm NFC does not work in Australia. Pretty sure NFC doesn't work for any region outside of China.

My Epix Gen 2 sapphire's start/stop button failed @ 11 months. Garmin support does not exist. Rebel said they would deduct the price I paid $695 from a new one, which costs $1695.

    Garmin are dead to me.

    • Wow, thanks for that, I appreciate the heads up… although one or two stories are usually not enough to turn me away from a product, if it gains good feedback and reviews, however at that price, anyone voices of concern are much louder than normal. And no support, very disappointing. I'm never touching Garmin, cheers!!

      • I have 8 Garmin devices and only the HRM Pro stopped working. Garmin replaced it even though it was six months out of warranty

    • I just had my 2.5yr old forerunner 955 replaced by garmin due to dead pixels appearing on the screen. Requested support via their online form and they were quick to email me back, ask for photos, and then offering an exchange.

    • Don't think any Huawei watches have access to Strava if that matters. That sucks though re Garmin.

      • I use Huawei GT-Runner. I checked Huawei Health app. In section Me - Privacy Management - Data sharing and authorization. There are adidas running link and Strava link to sync fitness data. I haven't tried it yet to link Strava.

My account is Hong Kong region. I chose it since the first time I got it in Sydney. A lot of free nice watch faces as well. There's NFC for my watch, but I don't have related bank cards (very limited options). Choose Hong Kong region for the account ;-)

    • it has 1 year warranty tho. have you tried the ACL with Rebel?

    • +2

I'm not going to drop the issue, but there are only so many hours I can listen to that piano music on their 1800 support number. I sent them two emails using their form—no response—though I did receive a "Confirmation of email submission." Their chat always displays, "Sorry, a chat specialist is not currently available. Please try back later."

I have my home automation platform integrated with Garmin, utilizing various AI-driven automations based on metadata, so I previously had a positive opinion of them. My Fenix 5 from years ago still works.

It has now been 12 months and 10 days since purchase. Initially, I assumed the button issue was caused by firmware update 20.16 because the screen would also freeze of the watch face, so I waited for a new firmware release (20.22), which followed shortly after. However, the button still didn’t work. I then attempted to roll back to firmware version 19.41 and spent days trying to recover it from a boot loop.

  • This or Galaxy Watch Ultra for $100 more?

    • Galaxy watch Ultra has the same size battery as the galaxy watch 5 Pro, you'll get around 2-3 days max battery life depending on usage. So in terms of battery life this'll beat it hands down.

    • Where is the galaxy ultra 599?

  • How is the IOS functionality? My old Huawei did not like to intergrate very well and IOS functionality was limited.

Bought a GT2 in June 2022. Still going strong. Battery is amazing.

I have actually just bought a GT3 and weighting for delivery. It was on sale and most reviews I find say not much different from 3, 4 or 5. Apparently better GPS from GT 2 to GT 3.

Great watches. Don't have all the bells and whistles… But great for health tracking.

I've had a Samsung Watch before and got sick of charging it.

Whats the point of having a watch that tracks sleep that needs to be charged every day like a Apple or a Samsung.

Also… Paying on your watch was annoying… And who doesn't have their phone on them like 99% of the time?

Anyway great watch for Fitness and Health Tracking.

Only other negs that I can think of… You need to side load Huawei Health as it doesnt come in the Play Store. And you can't share to Strava… So if you want to show off your activities easily… Not necessarily the watch for you.

Oh yeah… And you can easily put on a 22mm metal band and they look quite good as a dress watch. I wear mine 24/7.

  • Don't really use NCF, so not a deal breaker for me. I want to primarily use the golf functionality, I did notice in reviews the only gripe is that distances are displayed in yards only. Some comments refer to a future update to allow changing between yards & metres. Anyone know is that update has been released?

    • That's been fixed. It allows you to switch to meters now.

      • Thanks heaps mate. You have one and use it for golf? Happy with it?

        • Yeah, it's awesome. Having a big display helps for the mapping of holes/greens. Shows distances to front/middle/back of green, plus you can change screen to see distance to bunkers / water. Scoring works great. Cool feature is after you have finished a round, in the mobile app, it has hole replays and shows where you hit each shot.

The only feature reserved for the Ultimate is the Caddy feature, so it won't do club recommendations based on your settings. I haven't tried the Driving Range feature yet, so can't speak to that.

          • @dubo1981: Just hit buy based on your review. Thanks heaps for the info!

  • I have the GT4, and the battery life is crazy good! This is me coming from Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.

  • I still use Huawei GT-Runner that I bought during Black Friday 2022 and have used it since 1 Jan 2023 until now. One of the best purchase and among the best Huawei smartwatches after Huawei GT3 Pro in term of heart rate accuracy.

From the list above, Huawei Band 9 has better heart rate accuracy than other Huawei smartwatches. Check YouTube "The quantified scientist" for real tests of smartwatches, smart rings, etc. in term of heart rate accuracy.

  • Any thoughts on the Huawei watch ultimate? Looks amazing but too expensive

    • Too expensive? Just choose according to your budget. I still use Huawei GT-Runner that I bought at $249 during Black Friday 2022. It's more accurate than Huawei GT5 and GT5 Pro according to real tests that anyone can watch in YouTube. Check "the quantified scientist" channel. Check Huawei GT5 Pro real tests for example. Huawei Band 9 is more accurate too.

  • This is a fantastic watch, I've had it since Black Friday. Use the golf feature regularly, and recently used the skiing 'workout' tracking in Japan.

Mostly use it for HIIT workouts, hiking, sleep tracking, flashlight and to answer calls. I also enabled ECG, arterial stiffness, and pulse wave arythmia analysis which is not unlocked by default (region locked). Looks pretty good for runners tracking Vo2 Max and stuff like that too. Ask any questions you like.

I don't miss the NFC feature, as I always carry my phone anyways.

    • I registered with Hong Kong region. Did you choose Australia for the account? No ECG for Australia account, I think.

Try to register a new account and choose Hong Kong region. Maybe a lot more free watch faces as well 😀

      • Once you've enabled the region locked health funcitons, you can switch back to an AU account. It doesn't remove the health features.
