I just load audio books into my Plex server and the kids have access to an old phone that is only connected to the local network so they can’t browse anything, they listen to audio books for hours!

My older does both, physical books, ebook reader and ipad for graphic novels
My younger one is mainly for music
Yeah our 4yo loves his. A mix of music (MYO generally) and audiobooks, so use as white noise and also downtime/calm time. Doubles as his clock so he knows what time to be quiet in the mornings until.
Great to be able to have volume limiting options on there overnight too.
