Was on Starlink site today and noticed Standard Kit on special!

Looks to be Regional Areas Only due to "congestion" charge within Metro Areas - Tested for VIC and NSW Metro Addresses. Regional Appears to be fine and no additional charge.

The Generation 3 Standard Starlink Kit is on Sale via Starlink (at the moment). Highly likely that being Starlink have done the Sale, all retailers like JB, Harvey Norman, Officeworks and Bunnings will most likely lower their prices (usually within 24 hours). - Due to Regional Areas only, retailers don't drop ther price or price match.

This is more suited for homes and businesses with fixed locations.

          But on the Residential Plan you can get 200 to 300 Mbps in Australia.

          Upload is an overall downside to Starlink unfortunately.

          I don't see how….. Ping on Residential is like 20 to 30ms. I don't see how it would be lower.

          Maybe I need to trial this on my Starlink Mini and see what it returns.

            throughout the day one minute it's 80mbps the next it's 250mbps

            for upload it's low as 4mbps but sometimes seen it 27mbps max 37mbps

            i have a feeling lite plan maybe more predictable consistent

            i do a speed test every hour, my averages are quite high

            data from past week average

            221.06MBps Download
            21.12MBps Upload
            44.25ms ping

            data from past month average

            209.49MBps Download
            19.71MBps Upload
            53.21ms ping

            i think ping could be better for similar reason why idle ping test and loaded ping test is slower, whether starlink optimises artificially limited connections im unsure

            i only read from one source about better ping but felt it made sense

              The ping doesn't make sense to me for being on Residential Lite. Like, ping in ping, how it can be lower just because of the plan? Anyway, something to test on my mini I think.

              As for your ping, that is very high! Your averages are lower than mine, so you must be away from either the Sydney or the Perth POP. I am in VIC.

                However it is true different plans can experience different levels of service variations.

                It is marketed as quality of service QoS and plans can have huge price mark ups in exchange for this commitment

                It determines the reserved capacity and increased transmission priority to maintain your service speed and latency while increased demand from other customers degrade the inherently shared networks.

    I think it's a little harsh to be critical of people using Starlink. I hate the fact that I have to use Starlink to access the internet reliably but my ONLY other option is Skymuster and until you have tried to work from home using that pitiful excuse for a communications system it's a little harsh to be critical of people who use the service. Likewise, I have no reliable mobile coverage where I live and depend quite heavily on Starlink for all my communications. I do not like the guys politics but Starlink has been a game changer for the way I work and communicate. I would much prefer our own government to have been able to provide reliable communications infrastructure to all taxpayers but they have not.

    Starlink is a game-changer for myself and my work which does a lot of regional jobs, no other sat service we used in the previous years ever came close to the quality we now get. Inner-city yuppies can downvote away but they're hardly the target market in the first place as they'll all have fixed-line NBN/Opticomm/etc anyway, so let them be salty at Elon.

    I don’t understand why people in metro and suburban areas would want Starlink anyway. You are usually better and cheaper off with FTTP/C fibre or a 5g connection. Fewer dropouts, faster latency.

    I have a few neighbours with Starlink and they can’t explain why other than some unfounded complaints about NBN in the neighbourhood.

                    Whereas Democrat Representative Maxine Waters has repeatedly called for violence, civil unrest, harassment, and assault of public and private persons throughout her tenure as a Member of Congress;

                    Waters: - Whereas, on October 20, 2017, Representative Waters told a crowd at an LGBTQ Youth Gala, “With this kind of inspiration, I will go and take Trump out tonight.”;

                    Whereas, on June 23, 2018, Representative Waters told a crowd, “If you see anybody from [President Trump’s cabinet] in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them! And you tell them that they are not welcome, anymore, anywhere.”

                    Whereas, on September 8, 2018, Representative Waters told a crowd of her supporters in Los Angeles, “I did not threaten [Trump] constituents and supporters. I do that all the time, but I didn't do that that time.”;

                    Whereas, on April 17, 2021, Representative Waters told violent protesters, “We've got to stay on the street, and we've got to get more active, we've got to get more confrontational. We've got to make sure that they know that we mean business.”;

                    Whereas, Representative Waters traveled across State lines to promote and encourage riots that led to violence and community destruction which is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison (18 U.S.C.
                    Whereas Representative Waters has threatened a jury if they do not find a guilty verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin;

                    Whereas following Representative Waters’ speech in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, the following events occurred,
                    
(1) More than one hundred protesters violated the 11 p.m. city curfew after Representative Waters told them to “stay on the street”;

                    (2) The Minnesota Operation Safety Net, a coalition of police agencies, found bags of rocks, paint-filled plastic eggs and paintball guns at the scene intended for use against police;

(3) National Guardsmen were fired upon in the early hours of April 18, 2021;


                    Whereas, throughout her time as a sitting Member of Congress, Representative Waters has repeatedly incited violence through her harmful rhetoric and led violent mobs in the destruction of public and private property and in protest against officers of the United States, including local police and national guardsmen;
