  • Sweet, time to get some Mobile 1 Gold :-)

  • Gooood! Just in time. Need some stufff

  • any air compressor worth to consider?

    • +1

i just grabbed one from bunnings. $137 plus extra 5% off using ing's paypass. went this way because of the warranty, plus the fittings cost about half the price compared to SCA

      • Isn't pay wave rebate for purchases less than $100?

        • probably paid 38 in cash and put rest on the card.

        • Now there's an idea, probably.

        • +1

Ask to split in 2 payments, 99.99 and 38.01 :)

        • +1

I just said I wanted to pay $99 on one card, the rest on the other. Just flip the card around - card #1 (orange) and card #2 (black)… lols

        • Reckon I can buy a $300 item and split the payment 3 times? :p

        • @gotbean LOL
@mrhorseham of course, they're still getting the money, just that the checkout chick/guy might be sus of you, cause it looks like you're trying to use paywave dodgely (avoid signing/PIN), in that case just explain you have a cashback rebate going on at your bank, they shouldn't care too much :)

        • or just say it's a new card and you have a $99 limit per transaction until you go into a branch

      • I bought a compressor from Bunnings a while ago which had a 2-3 year warranty. The company selling them folded and I wasn't able to get a replacement or refund.

        • +2

That's Bunnings responsibility, not yours. Your contract of sale is with them, not the manufacturer. You would still be entitled to a refund under Consumer Law.

        • I'ld like to see this work with Solar panels. That's why their offering 20yrs+ warranty cause none of them expect to be around in 5yrs+ for you to go back to them for a warranty claim. Then good luck dealing with the German or Chinese manufacturer.

  • Needing to buy an angle grinder for a DYI job. does anyone know if this is a good deal after 20% discount?

    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Black…

    • probably surplus, but it will last you for life. i would probably go grab a $50 one from bunnings. 1200W is heaps

    • depends on the DIY job, but a $20 XU1 brand from bunno's could be all you need.

      • Thanks guys. I'm tossing between the above Black&Decker or the one below from Bunnings. I can pay a bit more and have a reliable machine for yrs to come unlike the GMC/Ozito drills I purchased which tend to die once the warranty is over.

        http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_angle-grinder-bo…

Out of these two, which would be the better grinder to buy?

        • if you can get the black and decker for 20% off, go for that. they're both great items so why not save $15

        • definately the bosch, B&D used to be good but like so many others quality keeps dropping and they are only just better than ozito etc. i hammer my bosch grinder and it still runs like the day i bought it.

        • Makita @ Mitre 10 for $85. I'd go the Makita personally, however for small DIY jobs I doubt the motor will give out on any of those brands (still steer clear of K-Mart tools, their woefully underpowered).

        • Thanks. Been checking Masters/Bunnings and didn't think about Mitre10. I personally rate Makita above those brands too so for $85, it's the pick of the bunch. Cheers.

    is this include gift card?

    • you can't buy gift cards for 20% off. if you pay with gift card you will get 20% off

buggers do this just after I've gone shopping, I think I need to sign up for that club they have

  • Perfect for me as I just lost my Mazda's fuel cap, and was going to buy a replacement CPC one from SuperCheap but baulked at the $16 (i think) cost.

    • +6

How does one lose a fuel cap?!

opening up for a sniff too often?

      • +1

so many people leave it on the roof or boot of the car when they fill up and then forget about it

  • +1

Time to do the usual, buy Penrite oil and matching filter for the next service. Don't forget your ING cards for another 5% bite.

    • +1

Find the model number of your oil filter, then find it's matching model in the Mobil 1 Extended Performance, K&N and Purolator ranges… then search Amazon.com (US) for them. You'll be surprised, you can get these much better quality filters for a comparable price to the Ryco filers from SCA!

      • What is the postage cost?

        • Not as much as you'd think - as usual, you have to spend money to make money (i.e. buy 2 or more filters for better value).

The first oil filter is about $8 shipping, and each additional filter is roughly an extra $2.50 or thereabouts.

I mainly use the Purolator PL10111 PureONE Oil Filter (for my old VXII V6 Commodore):

          http://www.amazon.com/Purolator-PL10111-PureONE-Filter-Pack/…

Buying 3 of those, including shipping, is pretty much dead on $30 - i.e. $10 per filter, comparable to Ryco pricing but a whole lot better quality.

The Mobil 1 Extended performance oil filters are $8 each for my car. K&N are apparently the same as Mobil 1 but with a nut welded on, so if you change your own oil, they say these filters are the easiest to change (they're $11 each for my car).

All you need to do is find what Ryco (etc) filter model you need for your car, then google it to find the equivalent PureOne / Mobil 1 / K&N model :)

        • Amazon is showing Mobil filters as not postable to Australia. The lower end Purolator, Denso and Bosch can however.

        • My apologies - you're right, the Mobil 1 filters can't (I'd heard otherwise, but I just checked).

However, the K&N HP filters can be imported, and these are actually the same as the Mobil 1 Extended Performance filters (just with a different paint scheme and a nut welded to the end). They cost a few more bucks than the Mobil 1 filters though. I'll probably switch to these once I run out of PureOnes.

The high end Purolators are the PureOne filters and they can also be imported. I have a half dozen still sitting in my garage waiting to be used :D

I originally bought a couple of PureOne filters from Amazon but some were faulty so I contacted Purolator and they express shipped a full box of 12 to me… can't complain about that kind of service! They'll take me a while to get through!

I'm also fussy about the oil used in my car (I use Penrite HPR10 in my car, which is 10W50 and runs great in my poor old 300,000km commodore!). I've still got one 5L bottle left in my garage from the last 20% sale, I'll grab another one tomorrow though :)

      • Interesting. I'll have a look. I use Ryco Z411 filters that sell for about $9 at the 20% off specials. K&N filters here cost about $20 in my size.

My car is out of warranty but I take it back to the dealer anyway due to their pretty low labour charges. They did however charge $18 for bog standard oil filters and $60 for 4L of oil, so now I bring my own and demand they use it (I'm also fussy about the choice of oil for my LPG car). After about 5 services they haven't kicked up a fuss. Some other service places do.

    • it's not on the ING card rebate man

      • My local Super Cheap Auto has a paywave/paypass terminal.

        • which one is that?

        • so anything with a pay wave is eligible? i thought it was only for the listed retailers…meh

        • +1

Anything with pay wave is eligible, just that retailers do not all have the new credit card machines that have paywave/paypass on it.

        • Noarlunga, SA

  • Finally, been waiting for this.

Time for some new wiper blades!

    • yes! exactly the same thing for me too.

    • +1

Man, I kept replacing my wiper-blades fairly regularly, but they seemed to stop working well pretty quickly.

Then I decided to get a new wiper ARM, with new blades on it (cost ~$26 for the front wipers) and it's good as new. Can't believe I hadn't done it earlier.

      inb4coolstorybro

      • +1

but have you got some of those bro endorsed brightly coloured wings that attach to the wiper arms to provide more down force and stylez?

      • over time with several blade replacements the small arms that hold the actual blades to the main sweeper arm bend and this is when you get less/no contact with your glass. A brand new arm assembly would be perfectly straight hence the 'good as new' feel.

        • Are these generic ones you get at SCA as good as the OEM ones from the manufacturer? I'm getting waaay less glass contact so I think I need new arms as well rather than just new blades.

(we can rebuild him - we have the technology!)

        • seems to do the trick. My mechanic calls me a SuperCheap junkie cause everytime he works on my car for 'major' work, he finds new SCA products.

        • Yeah, I have a fairly old car and I'm fairly certain the damn things were originals.

  • great deal. ~26% discount if combined with ING direct paypass.

  • -1

    Does this include gift cards?

    • +5

Yes it does, that's what is meant by the "excludes gift cards" bit in the description

  • +1

like clockwork, these sca 20% off sales ^_^

  • Ah my bad, missed that part while having a glimpse on the whole thread.

  • Thanks OP

  • Off to get some stuff that isn't usually discounted, like the branded Max Trax (not tread) and some recovery gear. $240 for the max trax is a steal :) Shame I missed out on the 30% off ProRack accessories last week to get some rack fitted tie downs.
