Paging local Reolink expert @UncleRico for his thoughts. Perhaps you can find some bargains with the US$5 off US$35 code REOLINK1805?

    • +3

      Thanks yet again, @Clear!

Sorry, I can’t provide AliExpress links without OzBargain generating the stupid supposed spam error above. Not a lot to choose from that you haven’t already covered, unfortunately. My value pick of current specials is probably the Duo 2. It’s a 2 x 4mp twin lens cam with panoramic 180 degree coverage for wide area shots and is listed at US$87 before codes and coins. If purchased with an 810A or 820A you could use bigger AliExpress and Reolink coupons for an even bigger % discount and cashback. Honourable mentions to the CX410 at $58 and CX810 at $70 before codes which are considerably more advanced cams esp at night. I only use my 820A’s and 510A (5mp equivalent of the 810A) indoors, in the backyard and in less active areas where their sub 90 degree field of vision, and lack of proper night vision or two way audio are not missed.

Reolink haven’t yet uploaded a listing for the new CX820, but if you manage to secure a deal on their first ColorX night vision cam in turret form factor, it would go gangbusters.

Also note, the 8CH NVR deal is not currently available at the original US$125 deal and has reverted to US$197, so hold off on bundling it until the cheaper pricing returns.

      • 810A or 820A with their 1/2.49" sensors and 2.0 f-stop, coupled with 8MP do not seem like a great choice for low light conditions. CX410 and CX810/CX820 might be a better choice, although 8MP could be a stretch on that sensor size.

        • Nothing surer. Base model 5mp 510A/520A and 8mp 810A/820A are best suited to low priority areas. The modest price increase for 4mp CX410 or 8mp CX810/820 when on special, is generally money well spent for any area where night time surveillance is important.

      Righto. Value bundle deal suggestion excluding the NVR which is currently unavailable;

One of these 810A or 820A at US$54.28
One of the CX810 at $70.45
      One Duo 2 at $87.20

That would give you a good base model cam, a great night vision cam and a fantastic panoramic dual lens cam to get you started.

Apply codes AUAS50 for $30 off $209 spend and REOLINK1793 for $10 off $199 spend and a coins balance of up to $4.24 for a total bill of US$167.68 or AU$266ish, minus any cashback or shipping credits for previous cashbacks.

All the said, if you don’t yet have an NVR, I’d HODL in the hope of being able to add the NVR for US$125 to qualify for $50 & $20 off codes and soup up even bigger discounts…

      • Thanks! Could it not be cheaper to buy things individually and get around 18-25 back on cashrewards for each item?

      • I was also trying to picture how well the 180 degree duo cams work if placed under the eaves 2.5m above a narrow walkway along the edge of the house. Would they capture the walkway and attempts to break into windows, or would they be capturing a zone further away from the house wall?

        • I have the Duo2 - it’s got pretty wide capturing angle both horizontally and vertically. I use mine to capture the entire frontage of my house and drive way. It does well. I think you would be able to angle it down to capture your windows across the walkway (mount it on the wall not the eaves, to get maximum downward angle). Though depending how long your walk way is, I’m not sure if 2.5m is high enough. But as I said, the angles are great on this camera so it might just work.

  • Have 4 x 5MB (RLC-520A?) cameras hooked up at home for the last couple years. Is it a noticeable upgrade to these 4k?

    • +1

      Yeah, incrementally.

But once you’re down this rabbit hole, I’d skip the upgrade to the base model 8mp equivalent and look at options like @Clear’s earlier 833A deal, or the current deals on ColorX models, the 4mp CX410 or 8mp CX810. You’ll really notice the improvement with those, esp at night.

      • @UncleRico Might be a strange question. Is the base panel / mounting plate on all of the dome cameras (for example RLC-520) the same for all Reolink dome cameras (for example the RLC-833A)? Is it as simple as twist off the existing camera, unplug the ethernet cable, plug it into the new camera and twist it back on? If not (and the base panel differs), are the screw holes in the same location? Perhaps wishful thinking.

        • Great question, but I cannot answer conclusively as I don’t have any done cams.

From the different turret models I have (including the 820A and 520A which are both turrets), the mounting and fitting mechanism is the same, but it’s not impossible that other models like the 833A turret or any of the domes may have different cable feeds or screw locations.

I’m equally curious since I’ve got some “universal” Reolink junction boxes from G. Craftsman so I’m waiting to see if I end up with any models which don’t align…

  • Apart from price, what is the difference between the 4k 8mp poe reolink in your previous post,

    • +1

These are base models with lesser LEDs, night viewing and no two way audio or alarms.

Simplest solution to manage Reolink cameras if I have an UNRAID server set up?

Bought one of the ones last night and this one haha

    • +1

Probably home assistant in a VM

      • I'll check it out cheers

    • +1

Simplest set up with unraid? Go buy the NVR lol.

Otherwise you’re looking at blue iris or frigate.

      • hah thought you'd say that.

        • +1

Yeah I have unraid as well, likely the two mentioned, or just fork out a little bit more and just get the NVR.

          Nope. Showing as $38.45.

Sure you didn’t have rebate shopping credits up your sleeve?

    • +1

Showing US $10.23 for me. I was able to buy two and use a $2 US coupon too.

Bullet and Dome are the same price.

      • Well I’ll be. Must have expired previously but available again.

        Thanks @gerenuk!
