Large discount on this specific model, unsure about the amount of available stock.
However when I bought this watch I got a delivery date of the 30th of April.

Nice
News of garmin going to a subscription model have me rethinking this…
is that all new models or will it also retroactively apply to this? I've been using mine with strava premium and its been game changing
Anyone's guess really. But look at any company that has gone to a subscription model and see what they have done then make an assessment of what you think might happen then.
Why wouldnt they make it retroactive and get more revenue what are you going to do go back in time and not buy?
If it is an advertised feature, they can't. ACL won't allow it or you can take it back for a refund.
@Flutterby: They can, it just comes at a cost (as you've given). Australia is a tiny market and the small percentage of people who'd return their watch would be barely noticeable if they believe the uptake in the subscription service will be big enough.
Garmin Connect+ is optional. You still get to use the base version of Garmin Connect for free, but the extra premium feature will now require subscription (which IMHO not worth it).
They've stated that existing services and capabilities will not be moving to the Connect Plus subscription.
There are some badges that are already only available with Connect Plus, whereas previously all badges were free. Yes they are "exclusive badges" which are probably worthless, but it isn't a good sign of things to come.
Yeah, that doesn't sound ideal. I've never been in the slightest bit interested in the badges but there are definitely some who get benefit from them.
I think that just shows that nothing is truly off the table. Sure it starts with no changes to existing services and capabilities. Fast forward a few generations down, and who knows what they'll put behind a pay wall…
Obviously I hope I'm wrong, but for now I think I'm gna go Coros, Suunto or Polar
@yourpants: I've had a Suunto. It was pretty good. It was certainly better than my Garmin Epix for swimming. It worked out the pool length automatically (I swim in 25 and 50 metre pools).
wtf is that rrp?!
belongs in 2022, which is probably worse. After the fenix 7, prices have gone up a lot. Garmin smells dollars and now wants subscription too.
Either way this is a solid deal if you don't mind white. Sapphire too which is a bonus.
also, bands can be changed pretty easily.
As I mentioned, the side of the case is also in white, while the bezel is brushed metal.
I use one of their inReach GPS units where they've just changed the pricing structure to be quite a bit more expensive. I can't help but think that the increasing availability of services giving LEO satellite comms to standard mobiles has got them worried and they're doing as much of a cash grab as they can across all of their product lines.
Too bad the black sapphire isn't the same price, still rocking a Fenix 6x
Same
Seems like a price error?
51mm in white has been close to this price (about A$700) at some overseas sellers for some time. Seems like this is an unpopular model.
Interesting, I guess that checks out. Great price if you're after the OLED and don't have a tiny wrist!
Great price. I have the midsize version - good watch!
wanted the 47mm but bought the bullet at this price - worth keeping an eye on amazon, they should automatically price match at some point
Does rebel sport price match? The rebel dollars are pretty good and you can get cashback.
yes they do
rep I chatted with got hung up with the colour not being the same and refused to match (I can't find the white model on Rebel site)
YMMV
Well obviously you have to match the exact item, not different colour
@mandelbrot: yes thats fine, but in terms of getting this price/deal from Rebel (& getting points, cashback etc) price matching is a no since they don't stock the same model.
Thanks. Already have a Fenix 7X Pro, but can't pass up this at the price. Even if I don't end up wanting it, can hold onto it for a pressie for dad or something.
Thanks son
The display is a HUGE upgrade from the fenix 7 series
I prefer MIP in general so not really an upgrade for me. But yes, AMOLED looks nice.
Can't stand the look of the white, otherwise would jump on it. Fenix 6 still going strong though…
what? just change it
The sides of the watch are also white (if it was silver like the bezel, it would be ok)
paint it over with a texter
I love my Fenix 6. It’s still going strong. It just seems like a waste to upgrade and have a perfectly good watch going unused
I've had one of these since Dec 2023, don't have anything to offer in way of criticism. The battery life is probably the best part, usually only charge once a week and that's while recording 4-5 workouts. Without working out, it'd probably last close to two weeks.
The screen is also beaut to look at and doesn't have any scratches, and I'm far from careful with it. This price is a steal.
How does this compare to the instinct 3 and are the bands on these easily changed and readily available?
No contest. The instinct 3 amoled might be comparable, but this is a lot cheaper.
damn you got me - wasn't planning on upgrading my fenix6 but Sapphire and that screen got me….
damn my small wrist :(
Yes this thing is massive, way too big in my opinion for an everyday watch unless you are the hulk. Wish they had the mid sized one to replace my 935 which is still going strong.
The likely reason these are going to cheaply, even relative to other 2+ year old Garmins such as the FR965 and FR265, is the Epix/Fenix 7 code base is no longer being developed. All new Garmins like the Fenix 8 are using one code base, the Forerunner one. Discussion here today: https://www.reddit.com/r/Garmin/comments/1jnz0ul/developer_t…
Put simply - unlikely to be any new features, and bug fixing may get a bit scratchy as they will not be a priority.
Good info.
Nah mate, stop reading reddit. Was just price error
They were below $1K a few weeks ago (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/897949). The similarly aged FR965 and FR265 are not getting discounts.
Aahh okay, anyway, I still pull the trigger. Thanks for the info. $649 ain’t bad tbh. 🙏🏽
cheaply … is the Epix/Fenix 7 code base is no longer being developed
My non-Pro Epix just got "20.28" update 28 days ago. I'd say it is still supported.
I didn't say it's not supported. It is starting to miss out on new features, even compared to an old watch like the FR255. See https://www8.garmin.com/wearables/PDF/WearablesSoftwareUpdat…
Showing $1449 for me. Already gone?
Showing $1449 for me
showing $1449 to me. Am I late?
no keep trying
Lol, fixed now. Game over, in time while putting my card details. Tsk
Better deal than $30 Prada sunglasses 👍
Great deal if you got it.
I'd say this was a price error on JB's part.
gone so seems lie price error?
Damn I was reading the review and gone
Seems like all orders have been cancelled (including mine). You didn't miss out.
I have the 42mm version for 2 weeks now, only downside is the nap tracking doesn't track my naps… very common issue which garmin doesn't want to fix

Same.
Yep, mine got cancelled this morning too 😂
Too good to be true :/
Any lawyers know what chance someone would have claiming the cost of associated accessories already bought in anticipation?
LOL
I tried to price beat at Rebel yesterday, but they didn’t have the white one. They almost sold me the black one, but unfortunately, they changed their mind in last mins because the price difference was too much.

not even a voucher for our troubles, poor form JB
Same to me, got cancelled. They should honor it; it was their error, not mine.
Does anyone have any experience dealing with situations where you made the purchase using gift cards that were bought solely for this purpose?
I bought gift cards via an employer reward portal - not at a discounted rate, but using financial rewards that were credited against my account by my employer. I used $650ish of value from my rewards account to buy JB Hifi vouchers, specifically for this watch. If I can't get the watch now, I don't want the gift cards. Unfortunately the portal doesn't allow gift cards to be cancelled and refunded back into the rewards account, meaning I have $650 tied up in JB Hifi gift cards that I don't have a use for.
it happened exaclty the same to me no alternative than keeping the card and use at the next purchase….
It's painful. Your options are limited. Not in the market for a new TV or phone in the coming year or so?
You could try and sell the gift cards in Classifieds, but people will be expecting a discount from face value. Alternatively, you could try and swap the cards for an equivalent value with another retailer you need in the meantime.
