Max Yearly (ARG): Basic $49,590 (~A$74.25), Standard $61,290 (~A$91.94), Platinum $72,890 (~A$109.34) @ Max Argentina (VPN Req.)

Knew there’d be a cheaper country out there for HBO Max. Argentina has come good and I managed to easily take out a sub over there with my Australian card.

Step 1: VPN to Argentina ON.
Step 2: Go to the deal link, and take out your account subscription with a new account.
Step 3: You may notice you get charged a bit more than the cost of the subscription, this was refunded to me a few hours after taking out the sub.
Step 4: VPN off, and enjoy!

Receipt for proof.

I used my Macquarie card with fee-free Currency conversion.

Enjoy!

Mod 4pm: Updated with correct prices in title.

Take a look also at BluTV in Turkey.
It will be replaced by Max starting April 15th
All the current BluTV subscribers will be transfered automatically to Max at that date.

    See : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BluTV
Or directly on Max TR website (it's at the bottom of the page)

BluTV annually currently cost 1200 TL

    • im giving this a go, seems like BluTV subs credentials will be transferred over to max. Hope it doesnt fail for me cause I already have a HBO max account with same email but no active sub.
Gonna have to contact to the bank if it doesnt work lol

      • BluTV logins are not activated and working on MAX app.

Just tested. No need for a VPN

        • Yeah can’t get mine to work either. BluTV was fine with a VPN, Max unfortunately says no active subscription.

I’ve contacted Max for a refund. See what happens

  • How much is real debrid or tor box again?

  • VPN'd to Argentina…but it is showing me prices in RM (Malaysia)….424.90 RM for the ultimate pack.

Yep I also failed with many options.

  • I signed up via Argentina last week with no issues using my People's Choice Visa debit card. Just went to cancel and got offered a discount for 6 months on the 4K plan to ARS $6990 (around $10/50 p/m) which I accepted.

    Happy days.

    • Did you originally pay for the 4k plan when you signed up?

      • +1

Yes, I did. Worked out at around $15AUD for the month originally.

  • Still annoyed ExpressVPN connects to an Argentinian location, but Max thinks it is Malaysia. Any free trial VPNs around?

Tunnelbear is a good free VPN. Windscribe is another.

      • Perfect. But none of my debit and credit cards worked. :-(

  • Gracias Mouchacho

  • Holy cow. Just tried another three accounts. Still nothing works.

  • Getting error that says cant use card outside of home country. They've either patched it or I have bad luck. Used macquarie debit card and CBA Ultimate Awards CC.
Also Philipines has it cheaper than Argentina by like $25 for the premium yearly

    • Philippines being cheaper is mentioned in the comments above…. but you've got to be able to pay for it there. The deal is that Argentina can be paid for.

      • Oh I see. To be fair I didnt try Argentina after seeing Philipines was cheaper.
Will give it a go if BluTV method doesnt work for me

  • The guys talking about sharing accounts, are Max cracking down on this? Saw a news piece that they are…

  • Just registered 5 minutes ago using NordVPN and paying with CommBank Ultimate Awards CC and worked perfectly fine
Got charged $112.60 for the platinum. which is still good

  • Regular Commbank Mastercard worked in ARG.

  • Has anyone given Indonesia a try? Converts to $60 a year.

    • We are unable to process payment methods issued outside of your home country. Please try another payment method.

      • Unlucky.

I feel like it might use a seperate Max account too. When I tried it made me create a new one. Didn’t want to risk paying if that was the case

  • Stremio

    • I always have issues streaming a lot of things from it. Buffering and what not even though I have 1000mbps NBN plan

Nup. Tried Argentina, Colombia and Phillipines using Tunnelbear and Urban VPN with 4 cards (MC and Visa). All invalid CC info.

    • Fairly sure it’s been patched now

    • Same, I even purchased a NordVPN subscription as good measure.

      Westpac DC - Fail
      BankWest CC - Fail
      NAB CC - Fail

  • Successfully signed up for Platinum using Humm90 credit card and NordVPN but when I checked the transaction on my credit card, it charged me ARS88196.90 ($125 AUD).
Humm90 not supposed to charge international transaction fees, so no idea how it ended up $125 AUD.
I cancelled the subscription and they offered me ARS58,290.00 for next year.

    • Hey mate, do you still have the subscription for one year? If so, happy to grab a slot if you are selling. thanks

  • +2

Ok that's weird, I was on Argentina VPN (Surf Shark) and the MAX app showed me $58.99 Annually for Platinum. I was able to sign up using my using UP debit card. And got charged A$92.
I'm selling 3 slots A$23 each for 12 months if anyone interested. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904723

  • If anyone has a spare slot they want to share on this, DM me! Happy to pay 6 or 12 months up front.

  • Signed up for a NAB & Bankwest credit card, both get the following error message when trying any other country:

Invalid credit card information. Please try again.

    • Yep.

      • I purchased a NordVPN subscription and still the same issue.

  • That's strange. I am trying to update the payment method on my existing Australian Max account and I'm getting the same error, do you think they blacklist cards when you try using a VPN to circumvent local pricing?

Invalid credit card information. Please try again.

When I was trying to sign up to circumvent local pricing I was using Windows Sandbox with its own browser and NordVPN.
