How is it better than a Model 3?
Pretty much every review still gives the Model 3 the edge. Better handling/driver dynamics, quicker charging, more efficient, less intrusive safety nannies.

If people are still whining about Carplay/AA just get a 10 year old Corolla and put an Aliexpress head unit in if that's your biggest "must have".

As for BYD - They have far nicer offerings in the Chinese domestic market than the scraps we get offered here.

        • -1

The other points you've made are reasonable, but you're selling fewer safety features as "less intrusive safety nannies"!
You can turn them off in the BYD, by the way.

    • UBS top engineers compared BYD Seal & found top tech with 15% better value than Tesla, 30% better than EU cars

      • We read this the fist time and discounted it. Now you are just spamming.

      • Isn't it the same company which is about to go bankrupt and is expecting govt bailout

    • yes but it is a BYD seal

model 3 is easily worth the extra 9k

      stop being ridiculous

  • -4

    😂😁😆😆🤣🤣🤣

  • +2

Tesla needs to be a lot cheaper to be a bargain.

  • -1

Watch the videos of how poorly these cars are put together. Absolute junk.

    • bmw pricing for lesser than 90's kia quality finishing

  • -1

Anyone drives the crap from Tesla don't have my respect.

    • +6

I'm never going to recover from this

      • I'll check when I see you again - how crappy you feel ;) UBS top engineers compared BYD Seal & found top tech with 15% better value than Tesla, 30% better than EU cars

        • Didn't ask but thanks

  • Not many discussing the discount. More interested in drama

  • Can you also get a novated discount on top?

  • +1

Driving a Tesla in 2025 is like driving a Volkswagen in 1935.

You’re making a public political statement and must live with the consequences.

    • +2

      lol, lmao even

    • it's a bit weird that you are supporting terrorism on a public platform

  • +8

The way I see it buying a Tesla is not a bargain no matter how much they reduce the price.

The US is using their economy to control domestic policy in sovereign nations and they want Australia to do things like get rid of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme which will end up making Australians poorer over the long term.

    • +2

It's mask off now. Dismantling the PBS was hidden in part of the TPP deal that was proposed by the democrats. The USA have also prevented Australia from taxing its natural resources effectively and chains us to the failed neoliberal ideology that has destroyed their country and is destroyed ours.

None of this is new and none of it goes away when Trump stops being president

  • Given how much better/cheaper some of the Chinese cars are these days, the only reason to buy a Tesla currently/in the past couple of years is to proudly fly your fascism flag.

    • -7

The chinese cars are also junk.

Test drove a couple before buying a Model Y. Anyone who thinks they are the same has never driven one. Landfill cars.

      • +2

        LOL

      • +3

@Oxenfree123c You either have very poor tastes or just trying to justify your fastly depreciating investment haha

      • Fanboyism is always sad to see.

      • Teslas sold in Australia are also made in China. So, your statement holds some truth.

  • Why don't they just move away from fixed price selling.

The price moves will be a little more discreet. Now every knows.

It pisses of recent buyers. In the negotiation mode you might hear someone got a big discount on the same car you bought and you can think to yourself that they got lucky to find a dealer desperate to meet their quota, now it is rammed down your throat that everyone is getting the discount and your resale value is also collapsing. They become unlikely to be a repeat customer.

It also scares off potential buyers as they have seen price drop after price drop and don't want to buy and see it cheaper again next month and also you start wondering why they are discounting them and people don't want them.

  • So many cucks….

    • +5

Just a bunch of people complaining about a president from a country they don't live in who works with a guy they don't like who owns a company that makes a car they will never buy or can't afford…

      Sook fest.

      • -2

Make sure you tell that to your insurance company when people scratch swastikas into your small-willie Cybertruck.

        • i think you can get surgery for that

the projection isn't going to help you, please look into it

    • Nothing gets me going like a big American man (profanity) my economy. More tariffs daddy!

Just waiting for the new Model Y prices to drop, and I'm in.

    • -2

Do not forget and be in for their new model lethal weapons, too! I'm sure you will get them free and even you will be paid for to clean the area. trompet and your bibi will drink their whiskey on people's blood on the beach in TV footage!

  • +3

These things are falling faster than Kim Kadarshians underwear. They'll bottom out just a little above the superior Chinese EV cars.

The Tesla brand is tarnished and if you're seen in one, it speaks about your political views. Unless Musk steps down or sells the brand to China, Teslas will continue to nosedive.

    • +2

" if you're seen in one, it speaks about your political views"

What BS. Never has anyone ever bought a car based on "political views".
What crap. Yeah, like any Aussie is buying a car based on views on some muppets on the other side of the world. Where/how do you nutters come up with this stuff?

      • -2

Oh sorry. You must not have the " I bought this car before Musk went crazy " sticker.

You cannot dispute the fact that falling sales are also a result of the owners extreme political views.

        Toxic association

    • -1

You're going to spend $80K to endorse your political views? Ridiculous.
I buy a car based on every metric, bar political stances of the CEO.

Are you one of these people who support damaging Tesla's?

  • Nothing like a flaming Tessla……

  • +3

“If you buy a Tesla today, I believe you are buying an appreciating asset, not a depreciating asset” - Elon Musk, April 2019

    LMAO

    • +1

Then he thought BYD is bad, now they sell >2x more & raising ;) 15% better value & tech than Tesla according to top UBS engineers

  • Good deal but this was actually $1000 cheaper in March for those purchasing via novated lease. Also they were bundling 5000km free supercharging + UMC cable.

    • Yea, but that deal is over 😅

  • +3

Sorry, I don't support tariffs on our country.

    • +1

tarrifs won’t raise price in australia as we import little from the USA, means maybe beef gets cheaper in australia as needs to be sold somewhere, like cheap local lobster when china want importing, cheaper gas if we weren’t exporting , tarrifs from trump won’t impact the average person, only some CEOs. if the price of steak comes down i will eat more as then i can afford more.

      • You live in a fantasy world of misinformation.

      • It will hurt Aussie farmers. Australian market is not big enough, i.e. there is not enough domestic demand, to absorb the surplus of stock.

      • Look at your super and see if the tariffs have made any impact on it. Anyway, should not support this guy until they stop targeting Australia.

  • Honestly these would have to half in price for me to buy one. F#@K space karen.

    • You still would not buy one.

  • +6

    Sooo… it's a bargain, right?

Nike shoes are made by children. Apple products by factories with nets outside upper floor windows, to catch jumpers. We're all hippocrates. Partly because we have limited country of origin options with most things.

Is Musk richer with every Tesla sold? Yes. So you're either okay with that, or you make the Chinese communist government stronger by buying a competitors vehicle.

Or… you buy a Subaru. Any model. Made in Japan (ours are). GREAT resale. Boring but good at everything and exceptionally safe.

    • +1

Subaru missed the EV market and are in catchup, as are many companies, EV need batteries and few companies make them. BYD was battery manufacturer, just added motor and car body to their core product, tesla makes own batteries, bmw, merc, subaru all depend on others for batteries and that limits their supply chain.

    • This! Research into the Chinese forced labour concerns in the vehicle supply chains seems to have Subaru among the better of all the corporations.

  • Supporting fascism…yeah nah

  • +1

    Buying this shit is Anti-Australian

  • +3

Bad deal will plummet in price throughout the year.

  • +3

Poorly made product and years of promises not fulfilled (eg: https://elonmusk.today/ )

It’s way too risky to buy a Tesla now based on constant price reductions, tariffs and depreciation,
Any money saved through fuel savings that used to be there are now eaten up by risk.

Many other brands have better cars available at similar prices that are not full of empty promises and do not hold as much risk.

    Valid Neg IMO

    • +1

depends what value you place on enjoying something now, like wait till winter for holidays when cheaper vs summer holiday now ? id rather pay a bit more now and enjoy now.

  • +2

    Not supporting a nazi

    • +2

      What a silly comment

    • Well said

    • -2

How is Tesla associated with Nazis. Everyone in Australia's a sheep here after all the fake news brainwashing. Elon did a salute that nobody even knows about for nearly a century. And it wasn't even on purpose, he was just passionate about the democratic landslide win they managed to whoop on the democrats.

      • With all that tinfoil rhetoric you forgot to add in "wake up". He didn't do it in purpose, twice 🤤🤣

  • +1

Anybody had any experience with its random breaking feature?

  • +2

The turbulent CEO makes poor business decisions and political affiliations that are effecting the sales and resale of Tesla vehicles.

  • So the used Tesla’s price must have plunged, too.

  • -1

anyone buying a tesla now deserves what happens to them. then again the bunch is not the most informed

    • While Elon is a huge shareholder, there are over 100,000 talented people that work at Tesla, who have put together a supply chain and a number of great value vehicles, which have generally improved over time through software.

I really feel for the tens of thousands likely to lose their jobs due to their CEO’s poor public decisions. If he was booted from the role, and people were evaluating the product purely on value and merit, the vehicles are still very hard to beat.

I don’t own one, but wish Elon would leave so that the company can get back to innovating.

    • +1

Nothing has happened to me. Did I deserve that?

    • Your grammar suggests you're not very bright at all. Bit ironic, hey?

    • -1

Hey Einstein, let's cut the bitterness, and the awful grammar.

  • +1

How are people allowed to down vote this just because they dont like trump?

    • Every dollar spent on a Tesla goes straight to the pocket of Donald Trump’s main enabler.

    • Don't we have the same thing with caged eggs here?

Weird how we don't have it with CCP supporting companies, or Nestle products. It really is what is in the public consciousness at the time of the post.

    • Perhaps there's more to it than simply disliking trump, such as the salute flinging Mush And Bannon?

Or maybe it's the enabling of genocide in Palestine that people don't like?

Perhaps being associated with a trade war that's crashing markets and about to trigger hyper inflation?

Or the toxic masculinity of a rapist?

      Difficult to say.

    • -2

This is how it works here. Unfortunately.

  • Dont need a target on my back or the hate that comes with owning one

And I wont support the hateful robber baron that heads the company

  • +1

Price in title deceiving. Not actually that cheap when including ORCs.

  • +2

I would buy a Tesla, but the GPS is broken. It has an insatiable desire to turn right into Canada and Greenland.

  • Not worth it, with price drops likely and better equipped competitors.

  • +2

If you not in hurry, just wait, Tesla is having bad sales number currently, I am sure they will keep having sales in the future.

    • Are they? Still the top seller in March.. good value for a amazing car

      • Far better cars available for less from reputable OEMs, not syphilitic South African autists.

  • +2

$2500 is not nearly enough compo for being the most hated car on the road

  • Tesla is poor quality and has been stagnating.

Needs to have a much heavier discount to compete.

    • +1

I disagree on the quality, apart from the Cybertruck. But I do agree that they need to make the pricing more competitive……especially as I'm looking at the new Model Y

      • -2

I disagree, there are manufacturers making much safer batteries for cars, yet we don't hear about them, because they aren't from a white / western country.

        • +1

He said that Tesla's were poor quality. I disagreed.

          What was your point again?

          • -4

@gasman70: Point is, Tesla, barely scratch the surface where it counts. the most important part, the battery, and that the most unreliable part of a tesla. where these Chinese manufacturers are building better batteries that are easier to replace and / or repair, are safer, and wont lock you in your burning car if they fail (especially in the event of impact stress) and start to catch fire, burning you alive. I would not want to own a Tesla. and i don't feel safe being a passenger in them either. THAT IS MY POINT. But you know, you do you, support the musk machine if it helps you sleep at night.

          • -3

@gasman70: Teslas might look the part, but when you dig a little deeper, the cracks show — literally and figuratively. According to a 2023 Consumer Reports reliability survey, Tesla ranked 19th out of 30 car brands, with frequent issues in build quality, hardware, and software integration. Common problems include misaligned panels, flimsy trim, and paint that peels faster than a Pom in the Aussie sun. JD Power’s 2023 Initial Quality Study reported Tesla owners experienced 257 problems per 100 vehicles — well above the industry average of 192. And let’s not forget the battery degradation: studies show Tesla batteries lose around 10% capacity after just 160,000km, and when replacement time comes, you’re looking at a bill upwards of AUD $20,000. Once out of warranty, you're essentially rolling the dice on major failures. Add to that poor resale value — with some models dropping over 30% in value within the first year. They're flash, sure, but they're not built to last, they're not the status symbol they once were, and for what you pay, that's a real stitch-up.

And while Tesla is getting worse, these Chinese EV brands are absolutely on the charge. BYD is killing it, they actually outsold Tesla in late 2023, and their cars like the Seal and Atto 3 are better built, better value, and packed with more features for less coin. XPeng’s doing mad things with smart tech too — their P7 has driver-assist features that make Tesla’s Autopilot look half-baked (i mean, tesla did that on their own, pretty much half baked, especially with the switching off before an accident controversy coming from owners in other countries). Then there’s NIO, pumping out premium EVs like the ET7 with battery swap tech that’s quicker than a servo stop, obviously we don't have that here, but might be the way of the future if EV actually takes hold. Even Zeekr’s stepping in with sleek, long-range cars that make the Model Y feel overpriced and undercooked. Honestly, while Tesla’s relies on its hype (mostly from musk), these brands are cranking out EVs that are cheaper, better made, safer, etc.

  • Thanks OP - good deal!

  • -1

Are the NPCs still told to hate electric car man?

  • +2

For anyone who blames Tesla.. remember that's the ONLY competition out there against the Chinese innovation/cars.
Said that all these price cuts are impacting the ICE cars.. all the media hype says about Tesla sales are getting crushed, wanted to see the same 'sales data' for European car brands..

Telsa should be selling its car business and focus on Battery and innovations. No one can compete against Chinese company innovations as they are way ahead.
