Hopefully it’s this price when I have money again.

Its right there in the advert how much P&H is.

So why isn't it right there in the title of this thread?

Or would saying it cost another $35 make it sound too expensive?

    • +1

you can pick up in store for no additional cost

    • +3

C&C is free from the 32 stores across Australia.

  • would this be overkill to power a cctv?

    • +1

I would think so considering there's poe units and mini solar panels you can get

  • +5

Just a heads up: don’t take too long to test it out after purchasing. Mine was faulty from the get go (and their returns system is slow and painful) but the replacement one was fine.

  • Out of curiosity, how do you plan to use something like this in your project?

    • +2

I want to put several on my tourer roof.

      • How big is the roof of your tourer then ?

My next van I also want at least 300-400 Watts of Solar, just need bigger roof space.

I got 3 x 170w from supacheap a while back on my canopy. If I can fit 4 or six on the cab roof but have them on drawer runners so they’re stacked would be cool.

          • +2

@Elpres: In theory sounds cool, but those corrugated rough roads would be brutal on rooftop runners

me thinks, but done right could be done successfully. I imagine dust would also be a challange.

I found a local solar company advertising old house panels on FB for $5 each so I went and grabbed a few to toy with, they also had a lot of odd brandnew house panels they was selling really cheap, 300w to 400w panels for $50 to $100 each, some were odd left overs from installs, some the grid-connect certification had expired or some such issue… Example> https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/953111423041939/

I have 2 x 100w panels on my Hiace, I'm toying with the idea of measuring up to see if I can fit one of these 300-400w panels on there to use with the Victron 100/20… (if my roof vent was a bit further forward it wouldn't be an issue, as it is it will be a squeeze I think)…

Just an idea, it may be worth asking around at local solar installer/sellers to see if they have any cheap odd house panels…

I got 2x 250w on my shed where I got cnc laser and 3d printer. 300ah batteries and inverter. I got mine from recycle centre (tip) for $35. Running all of that and a 60l fridge. Haven't needed to top up power yet. Last few cloudy days brought batteries down to 72% so take few days to top up to 100%. Also using it as backup if main power goes. Got a 3000w inverter.

      • Sorry I'm very noob at this. Can you please list the items that you need to put such a system together?

        • -1

You need an electrician if you need to ask. And pretty sure you need a electrician regardless based on our laws. You can't even run your own network cable through the roof without a cabling licence.

        • +1

@web50 hard to tell as so many different systems and configurations. A "simple"12v system is
          12v battery. (I suggest lifepo4)
          Solar panels
MPPT (solar charger/input). This connect solar to battery.
          Inverter from battery directly.
Don't forget fuses and you need good cables. Won't work with extension lead cables.

When adding batteries and other things such as shunt (measure battery). My shunt and MPPT are synced up with Victron gear so know input and output and controls solar that way. Then it turns bit more tricky. Cannot give more advice as not electrician and you should check the information above is correct. BUT it would get you up and running. When getting things such as MPPT be sure you size it for your size solar or you want to add another panel down the track. Can get expensive. And it would be cheaper to have normal power. I built it more for fun and to have that backup if power goes especially for our fridges/freezers, office computers and Internet.

    Ahhhh yes 4WD Supa Centre.
Alternate between "SAVE MORE WITH THIS BUNDLE" where another product is bundled with the item, for less than the price of the item, so that they…

Can then say next month "WOW THIS IS HALF PRICE COMPARED TO LAST MONTH"… except it isn't half price, you could have gotten it in a bundle for cheaper.

  • Just buy a few used ones from marketplace for $10 each

    • +1

Be careful with the marketplace panels. A lot are house panels which provide much higher voltages (30-40v) and might not be suitable for the rest of your setup.

  • +1

Still need a controller if you want to go camping with it.
