Google Pixel 9 Pro 128GB $0 ($1697 off) on $99/Month 24-Month SIM Plan (in-Store Only, Port-in Only) @ JB Hi-Fi

1410

Same deal that was on the Pixel 9 (expired) and is currently on Pixel 9a (until 23/04/2025).

Switching numbers back and forth is annoying so what I did for a brand new throwaway number:
1. Get cheap SIM only plan with Amaysim (cheapest as at 17/04/2025 was $10), activate on phone.
2. Go to JB, pick the phone and get setup on Telstra with the Amaysim number. Pay the $99.00 for first month, only money to change hands.
3. Next day on Telstra.com cancel the plan, they will have the cancellation fee of MAX $800

*Edit: Actual cancellation fee is $766.67 (from comments).
$766.67 + $99 = $865.67 in total.

So for only $15.67 more than the new Pixel 9A ($850) you get the top-tier of the Pixel 9 line.

    • Looks like it depends on the sales person you get at JB.

When I went in yesterday and said I am okay to take a new Telstra sim (based on few comments in here), the sales guy told me that this offer is only for Port-in numbers.

So I had to go out, get a new amaysim activated and went back in to complete the process.

      • cheers. ill try my luck

        • no go. multiple stores were adamant had to be a port-in. ended up getting a $5 ALDI sim

  • Does this also work for a larger capacity phone or only the 128 GB?

I did it with 256gb one, read my comment with steps above.

      • just saw it. Epic deal - just asked above on the 30 for 300 deal. Can't recall it.
Didn't see the 24month deal for the 256gb on website, I guess that is why you went into the store.

Thx for clear set out… If I can get a similar deal, my P6pro needs a replacement. Screen is auto changing brightness and sometimes I can't read it.
        .

  • Does anyone know if today is the last day for this or if tomorrow will work too?

    • available on the 23rd as well

  • I believe this desk is active till the 23rd, not sure though if the cancellation process is still the same

  • Now that I had cancelled the plan, I'd received the invoice for $766.59. However, the invoice doesn't give me any payment option. It just says due to be paid by direct deposit. I believe that's the direct deposit setup when I first signed up?

So I did this with the iPhone deal from the other day and this is my experience.

I bought a cheap $2 sim (Lebara) and activated it in my name.

I went to JB hi fi and signed up to the plan. I ported the Lebara number to my existing Telstra account. I had activated that sim about an hour prior.

Signed up all good, no issues. It deducted $99 from my account straight away. They definitely used a gift card as I saw them grab one and add money to it then swiped it to pay for the phone.

Went home and downloaded the JB hifi app and spoke to someone, cancelled plan. I was billed the invoice immediately ($766 and some cents).

I paid it off that afternoon, I tried doing it from the JB app but there didn’t appear to be payment options so logged into Telstra app and the invoice was there, so just paid for it through my Telstra app.

The following day I messaged someone on the Telstra app and asked for a refund on the $99 for change of mind and that I’d paid the cancellation fee already. She gave me the refund without drama. I also asked if there was any extra fees owing (this was the first time doing this deal and I was worried there’d be some hidden fees) and she said no other than the $766 I already paid.

So looks all good on my end, everything worked out.

    • did you have to wait until the $99 is cleared.. mine is still pending after 2 days.. wondering if i need to wait until it's cleared or if i can just ask for refund now

Mine was still pending and she still issued the refund back to my card

        • cheers I will do the same

    Similar to others with a major twist;

There has been some concerns or discussions in regards to the JB HI FI Contract Listed here.

The store rep actually mentioned multiple times that they do not adjust the cancellation/repayment cost (Referring to the CIS Repayment Cost of $800).

This was mentioned as almost the second selling point of the plan in store, then I confirmed with him that I planned to cancel to pay $800 for the phone and he agreed that's the best deal available at the moment.

The ongoing deal is that these phones are offered with a voucher of $800, and during specific promotions the voucher is increased but the rest of the terms remaining the same.

This was confirmed when I signed the CIS instore, he walked me through the terms and displayed that the contract showed a max repayment of $800. This was the only contract I signed.

This may help someone in the future.

    My steps:
    - $10 Amaysim Card.
    - Went through all steps instore with the rep.
    - Paid $99
    - Never inserted the new sim card.
    - Went home, downloaded Telstra App, and cancelled via LiveChat. Paid $766.59. (800 divided by 24, multiplied by 23 is $766.59 minus payment fee)
    - Waited until $99 charge was no longer pending in my bank, went back to Telstra App and opened LiveChat to request a refund for the $99. Took me two tries to talk to a support rep who was happy to do this.

    Great Deal!

      Where was the major twist?

      • +3

Bruce Willis was actually dead the entire time!

    • Any tips for what to say to get the $99 refund?
I know it’s luck for this. I’m getting the contract terms states no refund. Fair enough as that is the contract but would be great to give it a go again successfully.

i let them know that id paid out the cancellation fee and was seeking a refund on the first month payment on my change of mind cancellation. i needed to wait for the $99 to be processed (not pending) in my account. took me 4 different attempts to get it

      • I have just gotten the refund approved, I cancel the plan from JB apps, and request the refund from telstra app. I have not even paid the $766 as I waited that to be direct debited.

I just told the telstra rep:
"I have just cancelled a plan. I would like to request refund for the $99 because I have not used it. I will pay the cancellation fee as that has been set to be direct debited soon. Thanks"

I guess I am lucky enough to get this on 1st try

  • Can you use the free 7 day esim from Optus for this?

    • Yes you can, treated as prepaid plan

  • Just wanted to share my experience.

I have an active service with Telstra so I bought an Optus eSIM for $12. Went into JB and did the credit check and was told I wasn't allowed to but this plan as it would go over my max monthly spend. I called up Telstra and they confirmed this is the case and its determined by their credit check partner which is a third party company. I found this very odd as I have never missed a payment and have been with them for far too long - probably a good indication to switch so I dont get punished for being a customer!

Anyway, I was allowed to buy the $79 plan which ends up costing about $300 more out of pocket with a total cost of $1697 - $1050 (voucher) + $500 (voucher repayment) = $1197. Still a good deal!

I got a screen protector and case for half price cause the salesman felt bad for me missing out on the great deal.

  • Given that JB HiFi use a Gift Card to pay for the phone, is it possible to get the Pixel 9 Pro XL instead and pay the difference.
(difference would be $0 at the moment as 9 Pro XL is same or lower price then the 9 Pro at JB HiFi)

    • They told me in store no not possible as they cant use the offer with a discounted handset.

    • I wasn't able to, but there is a 1200$ gift card, so I traded in my old handset which came with bonus 100$, so all up paid about 1k for pro xl 256gb

  • Great deal! What a shame the 256gb is excluded I would have bought one

    • i know it's too late, but 256gb is not included as I have mentioned in comments couple days ago. they just dont have it promoted, but if you go instore, there is this deal with 256gb, and you just paid $147 difference, and that week you have extra $30 cashback, so total extra is $117 for the 256gb

  • Thanks for the great deal.

My S21 died just as i was on a regional holiday in Vic. I drove 2 hours each way to pick up a new Pixel 9 pro. The camera is awesome!!

    • Nice one! When did you get it?

  • I just know about this deal. Does anyone know if jbhifi would extend the deal ?

  • Finally got my $99 refund in my bank account today

    • How many days did it take?

      • 6 days from the day the refund got approved by Telstra + 2 days waiting for payment to be cleared, so 8 days total from the day I purchased the phone

        • Ah OK. Yeah our one just came through as well. Thanks mate

  • 4th time trying for the $99 refund and got lucky this time having it approved.
    Thanks OP for the deal.
