I am also wondering what defines "professional" Bookshelf speaker?

      • +4

Do they make casual bookshelf speakers?

        • +2

          Amateur series

      • professional and $89 don't go together when it comes to speakers.

  • The M60s look nice. Anyone have any actual experience with them?

    • Unless you need very compact speakers, the Edifier R1855DB will be a much better option and $20 cheaper too.

They have good reviews in many places online.

      • +1

Yeah, the compactness is what's most appealing to me about the M60s. I'll check out the others too.

        Cheers for that!

1855DB is too large for nearfield desktop use, which is why compact speakers like the Audioengine A2 are popular.

        • @OzHan The R1855DB are not huge speakers (approx from memory: 15cm Wx 25H x 22D). That's nothing for most people desks to accommodate and many people use them this way.

I recently linked a Reddit thread in regards to this (or similar size edifier speaker set), on a recent OzBargain post, where someone was also wondering about desktop use.

          • @wonderboy4: Its all relative, for me with dual monitors on desk already there's no way I can fit them.

            • @OzHan: That's fair enough, but your comment kind of proves my point, as most people don't have multi-monitor setups.

              • @wonderboy4: I have 2 monitor, thinking to buy 2 speaker, use the old speaker to sit my curve monitor on. Use the new one + plank of wood for keyboard + mouse. Voila, I have a standing desk

      • They are twice the price (R1855DB)…how does that make them $20 cheaper? Am I missing something?

        • +1

$20 cheaper than the M60s, which is what this thread is talking about.

          • @Maddsyz27: I was referring to wonderboys comment that specifically referenced the more expensive model as being $20 cheaper.

            • +1

@alxr0101: Yes, the 1855DBs that waterboy mentioned are $20 cheaper than the m60s while performing better. The prices are all mentioned up top.

      • Why $20 cheaper for the R1855db? Where is that price from?

  • +4

I have the R1700BT Edifier Bluetooth speakers and they are pretty good for computer speakers…

  • My brother bought the Edifier R1380T for $79 and says they're crap because they have no bass so he doesn't use them, I don't imagine the older model for $149 could be considered a deal…
Anyway I was wondering if anyone was knows about solutions for bass for my brother, I think that model would require a splitter but it's so hard to find a decent sub for cheap and wondering if it's even viable vs trying to sell them used and buying some better speakers.

  • can anyone who owns this confirm if its actually a 5.1 channel speaker?

    • +1

Don't have to own these speakers to see they're 2.0ch not 5.1ch

      • -1

Probably got AI inside that can produce 5 sounds from 2 speakers

    • +1

I can confirm this is 2.0 channel from Edifier TW official website. The page title states "2.0 Channel Bluetooth Speaker".

    • 2.0 channel, Bluetooth v5.1

  • 1380DB Purchased last week. I wasn't impressed at first, but after a few days of playing full bass songs on them, they sound a bit better now. They take some time to bring out the bass, so be patient with them.

    Also, get a $5 coupon on a new sign-up.

    • Did you adjust the EQ on the side of the speaker? I've found mine to be very bassy at times and had to roll it out.

      • +1

Yes, the EQ is set to full base. To achieve good bass, I need to increase the volume significantly. I prefer bass at lower volumes, but considering the price and size, these perform well.

  • Almost bought some new keycaps and switches from Centrecom today then remembered how terrible their no returns policy is

Go out of my way now to avoid them, getting harder with their free shipping over $75

    • No returns?
Surely they can't refuse returns for faults/warranty claims.

      • Returns for Faults/Warranty is fine. But they don't allow change of mind or "oops, I got the wrong product" without any form of a restocking fee even thought the product might be unopened. My dad had a battle with them and lost even though it was brand new in the unopened box!

  • What would be the "next level" above R1855DB?

    • Probably the S1000MKII, I have the discontinued S2000Pro (basically equivelant to the current S1000MKII) and they are amazing speakers.

They are occasionally on a good special https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/892520

  • Can I use these as height speakers (for Atmos) on an existing 5.1 + AVR setup?

  • Was about to checkout, but shipping killed the deal. Thought it was free shipping over $79?

  • +1

Ordered the R1855DB (solely) to pair with the Soundburger.

    Thanks OP.

  • Not bad for the price, it is 2.0 channel speakers with Bluetooth v5.1

  • The Edifier M60's are now listed at $180. Even better buy
