  • why these good monitors(LG/Lenovo) doesnt equip with USB type C ????

    • +3

USB type C wont do 1440P 180hz anyways so who cares.. dongles fix the issue for laptops

      • What kind of dongle? USB-C is handy so it charges the laptop at the same time, rather than running a separate cable for power.

    • What are the USB ports on the monitor for? What kind of devices can you plug into them?

      • laptops, its handy when you want to run dual monitors off one HDMI port and 1 USB-C port. thats the standard for laptops
otherwise you need a display port to usb c or hdmi to usb c dongle add on

        • Do gaming laptops run high refresh through thunderbolt? Or do you still need to use hdmi/dp

          • @krisspy: hdmi/dp : the new HDMI ports can do high refresh rates

    • Majority of gaming on a desktop uses a desktop and desktops rarely use thunderbolt for video out… Actually I don't think I've ever seen a gpu with thunderbolt

Great price, i got 2x of the 32" versions (32GP850) for $480 on amazon a month ago and very happy with them.

the 180hz 10bit colour works well. You must use the included Display port cable though to get 1440P 180Hz 10bit

  • Only if the delivery was sooner

    • Mine says delivered 1 to 2 days after dispatch

      • Showing delivery date of 28th April for new to city Melbourne

  • Can anyone confirm if the USB means built-in KVM?

    • Nup, not at this price point

  • What does this have over this to justify being $100 more?

Heads up, these probably still have the issue of the screen sending a disconnect signal after some amount of the screen being asleep. Then when it wakes up your PC has to adjust to a "new monitor" being connected each time

    • I am reading that it might be the cable issue.

Or it could be an issue where you use combination of DP and HDMI. I used to have this issue when I use them in combination for some reason. Never figured out why.

      • It could be, but quite a few hours of testing different cables and combos hasn't been successful for me or many others online

I have mine set to a black screensaver to get around this as it is annoying and i couldn't find a solution.

      • I might end up doing something similar. It's not the end of the world, but life is better without these small nuisances

        • Yeah another quirk is i don't think you can update the firmware without contacting lg. The software stopped supporting firmware updates for this model and i think they only give out the firmware if there's a real issue.

          Happy to be corrected.

also been looking for a new monitor, for anyone in a similar boat, another to consider:

    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/alienware-27-gaming-monitor-…

it's $400 but it has different pros and cons to the LG in OP

  • hope theres 4K

    • Not 4k, with lesser refresh rate you can get business monitors
