That price delivered sorta ok but otherwise 👎

    • 3.6 not great not terrible

wouldnt waste the electrons in my EV to drive to the local red rooter for this 'deal'…

      • +4

That’s battery capacity that you will never get back.

Red roosters prices are insane i dont know how theyre still in business.

    • Possibly the Four N Twenty Pie deal 🤷‍♂️

    • +8

Not really. Their chicken pieces are 1.5-2 KFC's equivalent and taste more like chicken.

      • +1

Certainly not as well flavoured for sure.

        • Their roast is way salty, fried chicken is not bad - KFC is too salty.

          • +3

@Flutterby: If you like kfc hot and spicy, you gotta try their reds hot fried chicken! Thats a bomb (May be both ways for some lol 😂)
Jokes apart it’s too good imho!

            • @Ohreally: I have. KFC town Hall has not n spicy all year around. Probably better than RR.

              Not the standard stuff tho.

KFC in Asia is the bomb, and rather consistent and are all crispy.

Japan KFC is at another level. The shop felt more like a cafe than the greasy stores we have here.

M… No idea why KFC is still popular in AU (fine, wicked wings are good).

              • -1

@Flutterby: Um, Japanese kfc has consistently been rated the worst in Asia. The only thing going for it are the all you can eat locations

                • @Hydrool: Go there, try it, and then reconsider.

No joke. Australia is easily one of the worst in the world (wicked wings being the exception).

                  • @Flutterby: Been there, tried it, you’re wrong. No joke.

                • +1

@Hydrool: As far as I know this is due to the fact that in most Asian countries besides Japan, the age and weight at which chicken is usually slaughtered at is much less than what is typically seen in western countries resulting in 'juicer and more tender chicken'. From my friends in various parts of the chicken supply chain (farming and processing, one in Malaysia and one in Australia), farmers usually aim for 3kg per chicken and age can vary between 50-60 days before slaughtering in Western countries while most of Asia can vary from 1.5kg to 2kg while age is usually kept to around 32-35 days, any more and the feed to growth of the chicken isnt really financially viable for them.

                  • @Ozbargainer9371: Adding to this, the chicken in (south east asia at least) is usually cooked in palm oil, which makes it next level tasty - but not as healthy

              • @Flutterby: We were in Japan in January and my boys brought home some KFC. I thought their chicken pieces were a lot smaller than those served in Australia. Also, my MIL was in Copenhagen this month and had KFC. She said they cut chicken wings in half and call that 2 pieces of chicken. So, it's much better here in Australia.

                • @Krakatoa: Just the size or taste too? I find the origin chicken prices from KFC in AU to be always soaked in oil and close to being burnt.

Japan ones I have had (and other Asian European countries) to be freshers and less oily. O well

                  • @Flutterby: Japanese chicken is pretty consistent, except for Christmas. That time is the worse!

I have eaten there a few times and it's less oily and pretty crispy then the typical Australia one. Australia has similar ones but it's almost like every branch is different. There's some that like to make it crispy, some not even crispy at all. Some super duper dripping in oil or some just completely dried out.

The chicken is way smaller in Japan also

              • @Flutterby: Everything in Japan is next level. Compared to America which serve barely edible 'food' there's so much processed crap in it.

    • +2

The chips r second only to KFC imo

      • +2

You gotta try the chips at Jesters my man, most consistent and tasty in the fast food game

    • I thought my local red rooster didn’t have much customers but then they extending their operating hours to 3am wtf I don’t think there’s a demand that much for that red rooster lol I am yet to go there at 2:30am and buy alot of chicken to see their reaction lol

      • +2

OzBargain Red Rooster meet up at 2.45am.

  • They really should continue the Four N Twenty Red Rooster Chicken n Gravy Pie hey peeps ?

  • +1

Their fried chicken is 1000x better than their roast chicken

    • Yeah ordering the fried chicken once really ruined the roast option from there for me. Though it has to be just right, too many times I get ones that are just drenched in oil, or dry as hell.

  • +5

this should probably be the standard price. even a little high for that.

    • +5

$16.75 normal price for the 6 pack.
Chips and gravy aren't really worth more than $3 to me, so it's a saving of a dollar or two at most.

Red rooster is great, but their 'deals' almost always blow.

      • if it came with a drink it would be "ok"

      • Even the app has mediocre deals.

  • +2

Red roosters taste not bad but this deal isn’t all that cheap tbh I would hardly call 6 pieces of fried chicken, large chips and large gravy for $19.95 a bargain.

  • +1

This should be normal price, seems vit expensive still

  • +1

How is this getting upvotes, it’s still expensive.

  • I love RR fried chicken but this deal sux….

  • +1

It appears that OzB may be the home of Aussie KFC connoisseurs.

It is hard enough to understand why people eat it in Oz, but more amazing that they waste the opportunity by eating in when in a foreign country, when there is a whole new range of different and exciting foods to be tried.

lmao, come on guys, the kfc deals are much better, is there any reason you guys prefer this?

  • So sick of this Click and collect BS. They are acting like they don't have a delivery service anymore. They used to do deals like this back in the day for delivery but have noticed these past several months they have started moving away from giving out awesome delivery deals in favor of click and collect.

They only seem to release 1 new delivery deal every 1-3 months but give out several click and collect deals within that time frame.

  • NO red rooster in Sydney CBD :(

  • Only 6?! Man I remember back when KFC Family Feast 10 pieces fried chicken 2 large chips gravy + slaw and 1.25L drink regular price of $21.95

  • KFC is better

    • Red rooster fried chicken clears KFC original

  • RR Crunch Box $5.50 for 2 PCs and small chips. 3 sets will net you 6 pcs and 3 small chips which will equal to the large chips for $16.50. So, basically an extra $3.50 for the large gravy. Not really a deal imho.
