anyone know a good deal for a 3 month xbox ultimate gampass subscription?

    • +1

      that's the real bargin..

      .. anyone?

    • Ive not personally tried but apparently the vpn trick doesnt work as of the last month.

Not sure if eneba/cdkeys would sell our region codes at a discounted price, kinda doubt it.

So best would most likely be discounted giftcards to buy the gamepass core 12 month and convert it to ultimate.

By Azura, by Azura, by Azura!
Honestly though, one of the greatest game soundtracks ever made. Can't wait for the nostalgia hit of exiting the sewers at the beginning of the game.

    • You just hurt a lot of xbot tools feelings lol. I love it.
      Have my thumb up!

      • Wasn’t even meaning to do that. I just want to buy a physical copy of this game for PS5.
Although, I might just end up subscribing to Game Pass instead.

  • +3

Skyrim was my first foray into the Elder Scrolls series… and I loved every hour of it (150+). Without the nostalgia, is Oblivion worth playing or am I going to be disappointed?

FWIW - Fallout 4 was my first Fallout game, and I struggled with Fallout 3 and New Vegas - the mechanics felt too devolved from what I was first exposed to.

    • +3

I remember having a whale of a time with NV when it released on console, and still enjoyed FO4 even though it was divisive among die-hards. My apologies I know that wasn't related to you question, as I'm in the same boat. Probably worth a shot for the price of the sub tho.

Apparently the FO3 Remaster is on the way too!

      • +1

Thats correct the same people who have made the elder scrolls oblivion remastered (It also depends how well this game sells) are working on fallout 3 remastered

        • Honestly believe that if Fable gets pushed again, we'll for sure get it.

      • -1

Incredibly keen for a Fallout 3 remaster… Hopefully New Vegas gets one too.

    • -2

      is Oblivion worth playing

I haven't played it before, but from the brief parts of the live video I saw, it does look like they've made changes for modern day view. Things like much more characters are voiced, addition of a crosshair for bow and I think they added a sprint? Maybe wait and see when reviews come out but it doesn't look like its the same as you going from FO4 to FO3/NV.

    • -8

unfortunately i don't think you'll like it. remasters are usually nostalgia trips, and while they may improve on gui and graphics, it's the game mechanics that'll struggle to catch up

      • If you did any reading about the game, they have reworked many of the combat mechanics and even included a dodge button now.
This really should be called a remake not a remaster since it was built ground up using UE5.

        • -2

in regard to the OP asking a question while highlighting his preferences, i gave him a straight answer saying it will most likely not live up to his expectations. downvote bombing both us won't change this fact.

sequels are built from improvements in previous titles within the series. i liked oblivion, but it's a 20 year old game with some pretty outdated concepts with major balance issues which they've tried to address in the remaster. i'm personally not sold on it and i don't think it's worth the pricetag or experience right now.

i've also watched shroud and lirik play it.
          https://www.twitch.tv/shroud/clip/UglyPlayfulCatPipeHype-AT0…

you are welcome to nostalgiajerk away, but it won't change the reality that some people aren't going to like this game especially if they're used to newer titles

@Fabman: floor's open for you to put your opinion out there if you disagree instead of hiding behind an anonymous downvote

          • +3

@uzr89p9jd: Sure, you have given an opinion based upon what is effectively nonsense. You may have a valid point with many other games when a remaster happens, not this time. This isn't a remaster, it is a remake, the game mechanics have changed.

I'm warning people that liked the original that they might not like this as it has changed significantly, while you are warning people the old mechanics haven't modernised and are out of date. Part of the appeal back then was the engine itself and how you interacted with the world, Unreal doesn't offer that same experience. It will be different, better for some, worse for other, but definitely not the same. This isn't an old game with a fresh coat of paint, it is built from the ground up with different game mechanics. I'd personally have preferred Oblivion using the Starfield engine as I am someone often baited by nostalgia.

            • @FabMan: a comment being nonsense because you personally disagree with it is not a valid counter-argument. pre-charging your response with emotion is an analogue for cupping your hands over your ears before saying what you wanted to say.

yes, i agree that some things have been updated like: combat, animations, enemy AI, introduction of sprinting, leveling and scaling changes (much needed), but at the same time the game is still oblivion at its core. when he enters the imperial city for the first time and sees like 10 people, and assassins creed or red dead has cities bustling with life, is it really worth it? the hook for people buying oblivion remaster is because they've played the original. all you've tried to do was project your own opinion onto him precisely because you've played it, while he's outright telling you he's apprehensive because he hasn't played it.

the engine overhaul and building the game from the ground-up is one thing, but is it enough to sell someone who's used to playing modern titles on a recreation of a 20 year old game on a $70/85/100 price tag?

            • +3

@FabMan: i'd also like to point out that only the graphics were remade on UE5 — the game engine is still using the old gamebryo engine.

Bethesda and Virtuos say—in terms I can understand—that they've got UE5 handling the graphics and good old Gamebryo handling the core logic. That's a whole lot of game to put in one place.

              source: https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-elder-scrolls/hot-damn-the…

This isn't an old game with a fresh coat of paint

this means it's pretty much a fresh coat of paint

so there we have it. i'm a bethesda fan and own pretty much all their games and i don't think it's quite at the pricepoint that i'd recommend the game right now. instead, i'd suggest OP play original oblivion with mods, and maybe even try out skyblivion when it comes out

              • @uzr89p9jd: Ahhh, well that information changes everything and I'm more excited for it. I was just finishing off my statement when I saw this pop up, my statement is no longer relevant. I still don't think having numerous game mechanics updated will make it feel like the old version, but I will have to wait until I've played it to be sure.

I've played them all since Arena and if you enjoyed Skyrim you'll probably enjoy this though I obviously have no experience with this remaster. If you've got game pass you've got nothing to lose. I do question if it's worth buying though given it's $100 for those on PC (should be free for those of us that still have the original box and disc) and especially so given the upcoming Skyblivion release.

      • +5

“Should be free for those of us with the original” - I wish my car manufacturer also worked like that when they remake and release a newer model than I have …

    • I had the same question. I love the way Skyrim is not dominated by the story, so you can do your own thing. Is Oblivion like this?

      • Yes, you have lots of freedom in terms of where you spend your time, similar factions with their varying quests, lots of random encounters to discover, interesting characters and stories everywhere (and the main quest is also great, but can be done whenever you want).

    • +1

I think so, its a very similar game. i enjoyed skyrim but i found that the skills and leveling was dumb down compared to oblivion, which again was dumbed down from morrowind.

They looked to have fixed the issues oblivion had back in the day so im really excited to play it once more!

      • Cheers - I've grabbed a subscription and will give it a go!

Game Pass be coooking in 2025

April alone pretty much just paid for an annual sub itself.

Blue Prince has taken the internet by storm, I just finished South of Midnight the other day, I'm currently addicted to Crime Scene Cleaner, Expedition 33 releases tomorrow and now Oblivion..

Meanwhile Sony are jacking up their PSplus prices without increasing it's value and expecting us to be happy about it 😅

      • +1

        Crime Scene Cleaner is siccck

      • Meanwhile Sony are jacking up their PSplus prices without increasing it's value and expecting us to be happy about it 😅

As you well should be! Can’t have any of these ingrates complaining when Sony is so obviously delivering such value to their lives. Why, it should be twice as expensive just to prove the point! /s

Ninja Gaiden 2 Remastered last month too

        • I loved Atomfall also. Killer year so far :D

        And then Doom Dark Ages.

Just Blue Prince into Expedition 33 into Doom is wild.

Pull it and close shut the jaws of tooth decay!

added bonuses of gamepass ultimate at the moment Clair Obscur expedition 33 starring Charlie Cox, Ben Starr and Andy Serkis which releases in roughly a day or so on gamepass ultimate. Plus if you got 1 month today for Oblivion, you'd have roughly 1 week of gamepass ultimate left to play Doom The Dark Ages when it comes out next month. Not bad value.

  • This is huge!! Best game of all time!
    Love shadow drops

  • i just realized and tested out xbox live on my steam deck wow this thing can do anything.

    • You can play gamepass on anything, the processing power is done server side you just need a good network connection and speed. A phone would perform the same.

  • -1

Xbox gift cards are 10% off at macquarie marketplace if you want cheaper gamepass

  • Between this, starting Indiana Jones and TGC, and randomly downloading Star Wars KOTOR on my new phone just for kicks (I'm still amazed that this game, which once brought my PC to its knees, can now be played on a phone — mindblowing), it looks like my gaming life is going to be pretty packed for the next month.

    • +1

Indy was an excellent game, 100%'d and looking forward to DLC stories. Speaking of bringing you PC to it's knees, this is the one. If anyone is playing on pre-40 series, I definitely recommend Lossless Scaling app, let me play the game fully maxxed out with high-res textures at decent framerates on an RTX3090 (though NVIDIA claims it can't be done).

  • What's the best race to choose in your first play through?

  • Oh man, I love game pass already as I use it to play on my Xbox, pc and handheld. The value proposition only gets better with the number of good games they're pumping out this year. Can't wait to revisit oblivion

  • Looks like I'm re-subbing to Game Pass. I never did finish Oblivion back in the day, had it on both PC and PS3 but time got away from me. Looks like the perfect time to dive back in.

  • -1

we have essentially hit the point where most 'new games' are shit cough (Veilguard) that remaking the classics is all we got left

  • +1

I remember this game being a little too tedious on the xbox 360. Never got through it much. Time to give it a shot and see what the hype is all about!

  • A little de-saturated compared to the original colour-scheme but I'll take it!

  • Time to get the mods ported over.

  • -5

    You can't pick your gender anymore….no male/female

I'll give this game a miss..game has gone woke.

    • +3

The option for choosing the character sex is on the second screen after you pick your race. It's the last game you could call "woke" - you can't even select pronouns and characters refer to you by the chosen sex.

  • Bought 5 copies for each Xbox before realising it was free on Gamepass.

    • +1

At least with those 5 copes you actually own the game and it doesn't require an active Gamepass subscription just to play. The days of actually owning a game.

  • Anything to get out of making Elder Scrolls 6, eh Todd?

  • -2

All I hear are Crickets at Sony HQ.

I just played a bit of Obliv and its FREAKEN AWESOME!

All we getting is a Last of Us Re-Re-Re-Re-Release Directors Complete Premium "PAY-PIG" Edition.

    • Cry me a river you little xbot kid, keep supporting a satanic corp you brainwashed tool

      • -1

        keep supporting a satanic corp

Starfield wasn't that bad, was it?

  • As it is a remastered, there is good chance for a price drop. You can play it on game pass until then :)

Also there are apparently a bunch of bugs, and optimization is needed. So waiting before buying may be a good solution.
