  • You mean May-Aug 2025? If only we could go back in time 😆

  • Worth flying JAL over ANA for multi leg into Okinawa?

    • They pretty similar for economy, I’d say JAL for business is better though.
ANA planes getting abit old but service is great

ANA gives you a free return domestic flight which can be handy:

      https://www.ana.co.jp/en/sg/plan-book/promotions/domestic-ad…

      • Yeah that’s why I thought ANA would be the way to go. But just in case JAL experience was substantially better, would have tried JAL.

We’ve done ANA and we’re happy!

Wish I could turn the clock back to 2024

Whats rhe best airline that flys from brisbane to tokyo?

    • Singapore Airlines is pretty good, but as all their flights go through Singapore, you're up for a longer journey of 16+ hours. Sometimes their flights have good timings, for example on my last Japan holiday I left Brisbane about 2pm, arrived in Singapore, waited three hours, left Singapore a little after (midnight Brisbane time), then slept on the plane until arriving in Tokyo about (8am Brisbane time). Stored my luggage at the Tokyo hotel without checking in, spent the day touring Tokyo, then returned to the hotel in the evening and checked in.

Next time I go, I'll also look into flying to Sydney, then flying direct to Japan, so less time on a plane. But I'm not sure what happens if the BNE-SYD flight is delayed and causes you to miss the international flight, perhaps someone else on OzBargain can advise? Does flying BNE-SYD on an alliance partner airline (e.g. Qantas & JAL) help?

      • Thanks, I'll have a look into the flying to SYD option

Summer in mainland Japan is not fun

Booking JAL direct is ~$999 and worth it to get free seat selection and to avoid third party site issues: (booking scams, fake insurance, change/cancellation nightmares, surprise re-occurring fees, credit card disputes and incompetent customer service).

Melbourne tip: early morning connecting flights can be added for ~$94 by searching on the JAL site for MEL-HND.

But overall, this time of year is too hot in Japan for me. But JAL will add a free flight to Sapporo (+taxes) where it's cooler.

  • Probably unlikely but would there be any deals coming up for Japan flights in Sep/Oct?

  • Just wondering if there are flights from Aus without meal and IFE? (Except budget airlines)

    • +1

Not really, wouldn't be a pleasant experience flying such long distances without a meal or entertainment.

  • Bag 23kgx2??? Pack 2x20Kg rice and 6kg for your bag. You can sell the rice US$120 for a 20kg rice. So US$240 for 40Kg rice. Good deal?
