Frameworks Wall Decor By EB Games from $49.00 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ EB Games

Frameworks Wall Decor

These are individually numbered and made by EB Games. The original price of $149 was a bit too high in my books but now they are on sale and stating from $49 for the PS3, Wii, 360 controllers. Couldn’t really make it yourself for that!

Wii & Nunchuk $79 (was $179) and 3DS consoles $98 (was $249) wall decor also available.

I have two of these both the PS3 & 360 and they are very well done. Made from MDF with a Glass front which really makes it shine.

Great for collectors!

Delivery is at a extra cost as always but these are also available on some selected EB stores.

It's just a way for EB Games to get rid of the excess broken pre-owned consoles they have lying around and make money off it.

It comes with the deconstructed console, thats the whole point.

      • Yer you need to attached a little bit of hanging rope on the back between the two latches if you want to wall mount. That’s it

        • The original comment mentioned/asked something about the consoles being whole or in working order.

  • +1

Are they made from real parts or just fake parts?

    • +2

Most likely real parts. Would have been cheap trade ins that never sold.

Seems EB Games is looking at ways of making more $$. They're now also purchasing retro games to start selling soon. I'm in the market to sell my Dreamcast PAL games. I thought I'd humour myself to see what they offer. Ha…

This video popped up in my feed a couple of weeks ago… The Slow & Sad Death of EB Games

        • +25

Everyone loves to bag EB Games for selling all the other random shit that they do, as well as just games… But like, what the hell else were they supposed to do?

Physical games used to be near 100% of game sales, I think they are now like 30% or so… They had to do something… They couldn't just accept a more than 50% drop in sales and shrug it off like it was nothing… What do people expect?

They are still a handy place to easily trade in old games… Sure you get less than if you want to go to the trouble of selling your games on eBay or whatever, but it's just so easy. I just think of it as like every 6th game I buy is free (and I almost never actually buy them from EB, just trade them back there). Try doing that with digital games… Pay more upfront and the second you buy it, it's quite literally worthless. At least physical games retain some value.

          • +5

@Binchicken22: Yeah at least you can resell physical copies and swap them with your friends easily to.

          • +1

@Binchicken22: I read this in reddit (I think) so take it with a grain of salt, but I remember reading that EB Games and AU are one of the few regions in the Game Stop group to turn a consistent profit, precisely because they branched out from just games to all this other crap. Unsure if I believe it; I haven't set foot in one in a decade. On the other hand, all the stores I used to visit are still open and they're not completely empty when I walk by. They must be doing something right.

        • +3

Their death has been greatly exaggerated.

Gamestop (the global owner of EB) made a $131m profit their last financial year and managed to raise billions while the whole meme stock thing was going on (which was brilliant). It should have been a terrible year for them, there hasn't been a new gen console in years and most of their revenue still comes from consoles and games, but they're turning it around.

Granted, they would have made a loss if not for the interest they earned, because they have billions in cash and very little debt.

          • +2

@freefall101: You had me until the last line… So basically unless they really shape up their business they are literally better off closing everything down and just being a bank account :/

      • If you use facebook, check out the retro pages or ebay - that seems to be the easiest way to sell them for decent money.

Wouldn't happen to have the fishing controller you'd like to part with?

    • Real parts

  • They definitely look cool. But if I want one I want them all! I'll stick with my display of all the retro controllers I have on display. :)

    Great for collectors my arse

    • +11

      Sounds like a smelly hobby.

    • +1

No thanks, I already have one

  • +7

Those RRPs are ridiculous. May as well spend the money on actual functioning retro consoles or controllers.

    • +1

Those RRPs are to make it look like a bargain when you buy it for 30% of the price.

    • Thats what I did and I put it together myself. It was a nice activity with my wife, she did the photoshop bit and I provided some assets I built with HTML and simple CSS and then we glued a gameboy colour into a nice frame.

  • +2

Very cool, but something a bit more retro than 3ds would be nice.

    • goes and hangs one of his dreamcasts on the wall with a concrete nail and annotates directly on the wall with a permanent texta

  • +4

I wonder if you can reassemble them into working condition… Not sure if it would be worth the time to try, but could be a way to get a cheap 3DS or controller?

    • Thinking same. But I would extrapolate that these devices are in frames for a reason. They no longer work - but it's not to say that if you know your electronics that replacing a resistor, capacitor, or IC that you couldn't get it working, oh and you'll need a battery, power plug, accessories that are not included.

    • Would've bought the 3DS if it was the XL variant.

  • +1

Clever? Or at the very least interesting way to recycle faulty devices.
Think I will do the same with the butt load of elite controllers that have failed me.

    • 4 have failed me. All with the RB button issue and all replaced under warranty

      • that's so weird am I the lucky one? I got white elite controller (core edition) around 3 years ago, no complaints, working great like on day one. I of course realised then that core edition doesn't come with the accessories incl. rear paddles that was the whole point, so I ended up bying the accessory set separately, but apart from that no issues whatsoever. maybe white ones are better somehow???

        • Halo one nil issues, bought better paddles

          • +1

@King Steuart: Ha, my halo one stuffed up as well. I thought it was only me, but seems to be a common issue with the RB button. Was playing too much Halo I guess.

  • +3

    That's today's impulse purchase sorted.

I find the PS3 and xbox controller shape kinda hard to look at now but the 3ds tempted me. Shame the wiimote and nunchuck combined frame was OOS. I'd even buy just the frame for that and use my own brand new controllers in it

    • The frame itself is nice a deep with a flat backs that’s flush with the edges. In my books better then the sunken back ones you get from IKEA which also now use plastic over glass

  • Most sold out. Got the black console and the 360 controller as the PlayStation one no longer delivers to my area. Cool as F.

  • +3

what no hoes does to a mf

  • Great idea to upcycle!
Bringing new value where it no longer serves a purpose or meets a market demand.

  • +7

I'm quite surprised by the negativity in this deal - I assume most people clicking on an EB Games link are gamers. $50/$100 for a piece of quite unique framed artwork made from a physical game console seems more than fair to me.

    • +6

I bought the PS3 & 360 ones and then after posting this deal for the Wii & Nunchuk and Blue 3DS

The quality of the work in my books is great

I just think there is a lot of hate on EB games even when they do a good thing

      • How much were the full consoles?

  • -1

    Delivery is $69 more lol

    • If you're close to a Zing or EB, head in store and see if you can get it delivered for free there. Just did that at my local Zing (got the blue 3DS and a Wiimote a couple of hours ago).

Also, had a bunch of gift cards then realised the website only accepts one gift card at a time. Zing was able to combine 4 gift cards into 1 (that's when I asked if I could order and pickup at store to avoid the $11 shipping to my house - they said yes if it's ready to ship from their warehouse).

I'm guessing only people renting in Brunswick and Balmain spent $249 on a deconstructed gameboy ironically to remind them of their smashed avo breakfast they also can't afford, all just to realise their landlord won't allow them to mount it to a wall.

These prices are now fair if it's pre-owned.

  • I can see why these are on deep clearance

  • +7

I can tell none of you guys here own a home or buy decor for it if you think this is expensive.

To get a frame made for your artwork or piece a size like this would cost $200 easily. Not to mention finding a clean enough retro hardware and spending 1 hour deconstructing it.

  • The 360 controller is acceptable I guess, but for me, for the original price they wanted,

Not capping the S in DualShock (or in PlayStation), referring to a Wiimote as a Wii Remote, these are things that make it look like $2 knock off garbage.

Sure, who would look for that crap you say…well, I guess the target demographic probably. If you're nerdy enough to have a framed smashed out Wiimote, you're probably nerd enough to know it's name.

    • You got one then hey?

      • +1

Honestly I was tempted to buy the PS3 one for a mate. Bought his first house last year and has a couple DBZ posters but not much else put up, but there was no stock nearby :'(

Like others have said, if it's a quality frame and whatnot, 50 bucks is more than fair, 150 eh whatever, but 50? For the right person it's a great gift.

  • Damn, most of them are out of stock. Would have loved to buy a few for my nephew and myself.
