Great for people like me who needs international calls. But wish this has esim.

  • Clicking through to the link, page says, "New customers only" is there a work around anyone knows of?

Might need to update the title.

edit Or maybe I glossed over the "Starter pack" part of the title, sorry!

You should be able to port in your number if you are with another provider. If you are already with Coles then you could use a $2 Telstra starter sim to port out your number (no recharge needed) and then port in to Coles.

      Hope this helps!

I thought that might be the go, cheers for confirming.

      • Could use the Optus Network Trial. However, it becomes an internal port between Optus to Optus MVNO.

By the way are you sure the Telstra $2 dollar sim works. Without a recharge how exactly do you reply to the sms porting verification when leaving Telstra?

        • I did it last week so yes, I am sure it works!

You don't have to reply to the SMS, just have to receive the code and input it during your activation on the other network.
FYI - On Telstra you only get a week on incoming calls and texts before you have to add credit.

          • @mightywhiteoak789: Just to clarify how exactly do you input the code during activation on the other network?

My understanding you request the mobile company to transfers your number. Then they send your the code. Are you calling the phone company back or smsing the number using the new sim card?

            • @pandadude: Before you can use the new SIM, you have to activate it on the new network's website, using a desktop/tablet. It asks for your basic information including the number you would like to port in.

During activation you choose the option to use your existing number and provide the mobile number that you would like to keep. They send you a text message containing the OTP to verify that you own the number. You read the OTP from your phone and input it into the field on your browser. And then continue with the rest of the activation process.

              Hope it makes sense.

              • @mightywhiteoak789: Thanks. I will check the next time l port services. I might have missed it last time but will keep an eye out.

Would recommend the Moose Mobile deal ($12.4 for 6 months) with 40GB data- Optus network (4G and 5G capped at 100mbps)

    • +2

It's is $12.40 per month not $12.49 for 6 months.

      • $12.40 per month for 6 months***

4G only is a bit of a bummer

    • Bought it today, will move from Boost, Boost even have 5G, still not good anyway and expensive, even first time received SMS from them, giving me $50 discount on $300 plan but still I don't need that much of data.

      • I feel disappointed to move to boost 5g as I always cant get data work for the place I usually go, even Optus 4g can work fine with no issue. Can’t wait to move back!

        • Yeah, I can't even get signal from inside Coles supermarket of my shopping centre, I moved my wife to Coles mobile and it is fine now. Will move myself next month.

  • Rollover up to 500GB

More than the annual data allowance!
    Think you mean 50GB

    • Sorry cashless - wrong mate.

      OP is 100% correct
Copied directly from Coles Mobile if you'd clicked on the link and cared to check.

What this means is that you can accumulate and rollover up to 500GB data.

  • Can anyone chime in on why telcos are able to offer reciprocal text and calls to the 15 countries? I'm guessing Optus has relationships with other operators but keen to hear from someone in the know.

    • Because countries like the US charge both parties for the call, spreading the costs between the call maker and the call taker reduces the costs for the originating network.

  • Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions colesmobile.com.au

I’m confident you can always activate before the promotion end date rather than within the 30 days

  • Can we use Coles GC to purchase this sim?

    • +1

Yes, did that today, just pick up the card and use self check out

  • Argh still got hundred of GBs banked in amaysim.

    • Amaysim is great!

Agree. But there is no deal and 21 days till expiry.
