This is the non-bluetooth version of the 8bitdo Ultimate 2.4g wireless controller, but it has hall effect sticks. Only the black colour is discounted. Not sure if ATL but still a decent price I think.

    • Great pick up 👍

    Bluetooth version is superior iirc

2.4g will have less latency won't it?

      • Perhaps but Bluetooth should have both

      • +2

Bluetooth version comes with 2.4ghz dongle.

    • This photo of the package https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51NYK9-wG-L.AC_SL1500.jpg

Shows that it supports both Bluetooth and 2.4g.

    • This version has newer hall effect sensors, and much better latency even when compared wired, and a far better polling rate.

      • This version has newer hall effect sensors

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the hall effect "Update/Upgrade" on the 2.4G HE version simply refers to the fact that the original 2.4G version doesn't have hall effect sticks at all. Not that it's a newer hall effect sensors compared to the original Bluetooth version of the Ultimate.

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 (superseding this) released a couple months ago. It sits around $90 but some people will be interested as it has a number of improvements you can Google.

While both the 2.4g version and bluetooth version both have 2.4g and bluetooth, the official bluetooth version is made specifically for the Switch (diff button layout) and certain features will only work with the switch vs PC. Pretty sure you can get both versions working with PC and switch, but it's not as straight forward if you don't have the version intended for that device.

The one that works with switch is awesome. No more stick drift

I find their product naming confusing as hell.

Why do they have a 2.4g and BT version if both do 2.4g and bluetooth. Wouldn't it make more sense and be far less confusing to call them the switch and non-switch version? Am I missing something here?

      • +1

Originally the differentiating factor was that the BT (Switch) version had hall effect sticks, while the 2.4G was a cheaper version without the HE sticks (and flipped ABXY in the Xbox configuration).

    You absolute madman

  • o sh!t it works with a steam deck, o thats good having a 2.4ghz connection wireless on a stocked steam deck is going ot be almost zero latency!! way better than bluetooth.

the reviews arent' great though on this might be why they are discounting it.

  • The ones with hall effect sensors are great, you can calibrate them in controller, and then fine tune on the 8bitdo software if required.

    • How do you calibrate them, in 8bitdo software?

  • Speaking for the Bluetooth version, anyone have a few of these (or the SNES ones) and can comment on split screen experience? Can Bluetooth handle 6+ controllers? (We sometimes do 3v3 Rocket League). I have a few old Xbox One controllers with the USB receiver and I have a few drops out happen in a sitting

What's the deal with 8bitdo doing a billion different controller variations now?

  • Anyone knows how would you use this with Steam deck connected with XR glasses (rayneo, xreal, etc…) which occupies the single usb-c? Asking about 2.4hz connection not Bluetooth which should work without issued I think.
