Yeah those Lemon Crisp Biscuits are so addictive. Salty sweet goodness. I have to not buy them cause I just can't stop myself eating them if they're at home.

I ignored the Lemon Crisp until I saw repeated reference to them here. A packet was bought when they were previously on special. Fast forward to now & several packets are bought every time they are on special.

Lemon Crisp biscuits and Biscoff spread on the shopping list.

Lemon Crisps are also 'accidentally' vegan, which was a pleasant surprise considering we can't have most of the things in Arnott's range!

Do yourself a favour and try Kooka’s Cookies instead of this American owned Arnott’s junk.
Kooka’s are Australian owned and Australian made, the main ingredient is flour, not sugar like Arnott’s, they taste so good, and their standard price is $5 for a 500gm packet, so much cheaper than Arnott’s standard price, they have to go on a half price sale to beat it!
Can get them from Woolies & Coles. The raspberry ones are my favourite, followed by the lemon ones, then the choc raspberry.

    • Does the biscuit have a salty tang?

    • Any recommendation for something that's just a nice cookie without too much filling or jam or other sweetness?

As "cookie" normally means something where the binder is sugar, you have to look in a different section of the store.

There's a thing you can buy that's sort of similar to toast, and you can nibble away while consuming very little sugar. I'm pretty sure Coles have it, but I can't find it online. Here's the Woolies page for it: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/661396/alw…

You can add whatever flavouring you like to it, like hommus or cheese or salsa, or even Vegemite.

If you want something that still has some sweetness, try savoiardi:
        https://www.coles.com.au/product/di-leo-i-savoiardi-biscuits…

        • Sometimes I crave like a Shortbread, no fillings etc, but it's still 20-30% sugar, + some fat, so not safe to snack on.
I try to move to savoury, but sometimes just want a sweet version.

I like salsa, but hard to set up and always end up letting half a jar expire…

@furyou: Ah, you want something yummy and not too unhealthy. As do we all!

            Here are a few ideas:

            • dried fruit, like dried apricots.
            • fresh celery, washed, cut into small sections, and then stored slightly wet in a sealed container in the fridge. Eat within a day or two.
            • Milk arrowroot biscuits. They're self-limiting, after you've eaten a few your mouth feels so dry you'll stop eating them.
            • If you're hungry, a hard-boiled egg is full of protein, and will make you feel full.

For savoury, you can dip the hard-boiled egg into spices as you eat it. Sprinkle the spices onto a plate first, and perhaps alternate between a few spices until you find what you like.

Some ideas for spices here: https://www.chefsresource.com/what-to-put-on-hard-boiled-egg…

Or you could try the mini-toasts I linked above, with a smear of margarine and a tiny sprinkle of sugar and/or spice (powdered cinnamon?). Eat it upside-down, so your tongue gets the flavour.

@noelhoi: My GF friends love these from Coles.

                  @trixieb: $7.20 for 250gr 🤣
I’ll try one next time i shop but thank God the steep prices of GF snacks have (generally) shooed me away from eating junk 😅
I tried hard to find smth similar to Lemon Crisp but the GF version… nada 🥲

  • Lemon crisps already cleaned out at my local. Be quick, or raincheck.

    • There was good supply at one of my local Coles. Bought three packs. Bought some Biscoff too. Winter kilos will start soon.
